Hi Francisco welcome to the group! You are in good company everyone here loves books. I think 12 books is a great goal but remember it is not about the number of books you read it is more about enjoying the ones you finish. I think with all the challenges and friends you are going to make here it will make reading easier and more fun.

Hi Myesha welcome to the group! We are happy to have you. I hope you have lots of fun reaching your goals here with us. Please look around and join the fun!
Oh my, this challenge group looks amazing! I wish I had discovered it sooner! But it's great that I can add my books I've already read in 2018. I discovered this group through a friend .I'm from Canada, 48 year old mom of three.
Now that my kids are getting bigger I can finally find some time to read!
I like most genres but psychological thrillers are my favourite.
Looking forward to reading, challenges and hearing from people from all over.
it is nice to meet you. I hope you enjoy being in are group.

Thanks for the welcoming comments! So much info but I may start withe the turn the page one and a monthly one.
Hi everyone!I'm new to joining groups on here but I have been on GoodReads for a while not. My 2018 goal is to read 20 books and so far I have read 5.
I'm looking forward to see what this group brings.
Hi! I'm Adam, from Sydney, Australia. I've always been an avid reader, but ever since the amount of schoolwork has picked up over the last few years, I've been reading a lot less, so now, in my final year I hope to read 52 books; that is, one for every week of the year. I've been on Goodreads for a while but haven't ever used it as something other than a personal reading log so it'll be fun to get to know the social side of the site and get in touch with fellow readers. I joined a book club here in Sydney last year whose subject matter changes vastly every month, allowing me to broaden my horizons in terms of reading material. Feel free to check out my profile and discuss any books we may have both read! It's so hard to find people who read that much, especially in my age group so a conversation about books is something I'd love! All the best for your goals,
Adam
Hello, fellow readers. My name is Cassie and I currently live in North Carolina. While I am not new to Goodreads or the yearly reading challenge, I am new to the whole group situation. This is my first group and I thought what better way to start off than with the 2018 Reading Challenge group. I was actually drawn to the group because of the name.
My reading goal for 2018 is very modest. It is 30 books and I am 5 books in already. I think I may be selling myself short this year. I know I can read more but sometimes life can just get in the way (life meaning the 3 daughters and 4 cats).
As for the types of books, I have a very eclectic taste in books these days. I used to really be into YA, romance, and thrillers but that switched to a lot of Paulo Coelho, Liane Moriarty, and Sarah Addison Allen and now I have been reading a lot of suspense novels. Who knows what tomorrow may bring on the reading front?
Happy reading and thanks for having me.
it is good to meet you here. I hope you enjoy being in the group with us.

Hi Cassie welcome to the group! I think you will love our group here. We are super friendly and all love to read. I think 30 books is a great way to spend the year. Tons of challenges to do and many pages to turn. I hope you enjoy your reading adventure with us.
Hi, my name is Chloe (or CB)! I teach Latin and Special Ed, so many of my favorite books relate to one or both of those topics. I love anything about mythology or ancient history/philosophy, and nonfiction is what I tend to seek out on my own, but of course I love Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson series (and Kane Chronicles because Ancient Egypt is my true favorite). My recent favorites have been This Is How It Always Is, Out of My Mind, and I actually was pretty hooked on the Lunar Chronicles for the student-led book club that I co-sponsor (I like YA novels and dystopian/sci-fi stories). My all-time favorites are probably The Little Prince and works by Roman authors, like Ovid, Vergil, and Seneca. I also love Jane Austen and the Brontes! So basically, I like most types of books.I'm trying to read as much as I can this year, and I'm open to many different recommendations! I like any good novel, but sometimes I have trouble picking one to start with because the books on my own list are usually nonfiction. I was trying to pick a reading goal for 2018, and it seemed like 50 sounded reasonable. I started by putting my goal as 100, but it kept saying I was already behind (I've read 14 so far). So 50 it is for now, and I hope this group will help me stay on track!

120 sounds like a great goal! I'd like to get ideas for sci-fi and YA books to read, so I'd love to hear if you find some good ones this year.
C.B. wrote: "Mark wrote: "Hey, I'm Mark from Ohio (recently, mostly Colorado though). I'm a reader through and through. It's funny how an arbitrary goal with no consequences can be motivating. Anyway, the two of the best books I've read this year are:
Strange the Dreamer and
The Library at Mount Char
50 seems like a much more manageable goal :) Good luck and nice chatting! Also, could you recommend a book for someone who generally doesn't care much for classics?
Hi, my name is Maria Freitas. I’m from Brazil, in city named Manaus, that is in the middle of the Amazon rain forest. Books have always been the way for me to see the whole world and all the other lost ones.
I’m really a bookworm so any tipe of book that you guys suggest I will probably take it haha...
I’ve actually always wanted to join a community but every time I get afraid of sounding stupid in front of a bunch of people online... but someone told me to give it a try... so I guess this is me trying.
Right now my reading goal it’s to read this year 15 books... I usually give up in the end of the year but I hope you give me some strength. 😊

Wow, that sounds like a really cool place to live! Welcome to the group and good luck with your goal! :)
Hello everyone! My name is Will and I am from Riverside, CA. I joined a book club locally and Good Reads is definitely helping me stay on track to reach my goal of 20 books this year. I am mainly interested in non-fiction, including science, philosophy, social critics, religion, etc. I am currently reading fiction books, particularly Latino authors that fall under magical realism. I hope to have great conversations on topics and books we've read!
Cheers!
Will

Hi Will I am so happy you decided to add our group to your list of hobbies and book clubs. I find that Goodreads and this group help me read not only more books but more books out of my comfort zone. I would love to branch out into more nonfiction and look forward to seeing what you read this year.

Hello everyone! I'm Kristian and I'm 23. I currently hail from Knoxville, TN. I set my challenge really low-6 books. I haven't really read for myself since high school but I'm now graduated and unemployed. I hope to actually surpass my goal, but we'll see. I'm basically having to teach myself to love reading again.
I like reading sci-fi and fantasy. The first book I'm starting off with is "The Immortal Coil" by Jeffrey Lang. It's a Star Trek: The Next Generation book about Data.
Wish me luck!
hi there I am happy you joined to group. also I like star trek I have watched the movies but not read any of those books yet.

Dean Koontz wrote one of my favorite books ever By the light of the moon, it's not an outstanding story but the characterization made me love it.
Hi everyone,My name is Ariel, I’m from Massachusetts. Reading is my hobby. I love historical fiction, I love to learn through the characters first person or narrative accounts. I usually am drawn to books with a female main character. I also enjoy memoirs. I am looking to expand my preferences. I tend to read very long books 1000 pages on average (shorter is fine, too) and I love series. The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon is my current favorite.
