This thread is where you can chat about all things PIFM, ask questions and once books have been read, review your selected reads. A complete free for all.

PLEASE NOTE:

PIFM is meant to be FUN and not to be taken seriously. I would appreciate it if all participants just chilled and not get worked up about voting, who votes, who doesn't, etc. Please bear in mind that some will just want to vote, many don't come on everyday and most of us have time constraints. I just want a relaxed approach to it all and for you all to just enjoy the process! I'd really appreciate your courtesy in this matter. Many thanks.

I fear we got two discussion threads instead :-) Do we hijack one of them?

Suppose we should -- need to get the originator to re-name it.

message 5: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Christine, I haven't voted for anyone's June list yet and I'm NOT astaring until May, so I would deeply appreciate it if you took my name OFF your list of people who have voted for your June list.

I'll get it sorted later today.

I won't be posting July threads till at least the end of May.

The 'Place Your June Selection' thread was there, just under the wrong heading. I've now corrected it.

I'm not sure why in April, June selections are being listed?! Anyway to avoid any future confusion I'm not going to post upcoming lists too far in advance, I think that's probably for the best.

So, like I said, July threads will go up towards the end of May and so on.

Hope you guys continue to enjoy PIFM. :)

Supposed to be getting better here for us in the UK over the next few days. A mini heatwave apparently. I'll believe it when I feel it!! Just been dreary rainy days of late.

Kirsten (kmcripn) Yeah, I thought we must've been somehow moved from one side of the Cascades to the other considering how much it rained yesterday.

Angie Hay (angiebam) | 8 comments Christine wrote: "Well at least it’s not snowing lol"

I wish. We just got a foot and half of snow over the weekend and more to come Wednesday. So OVER this 20 degrees and snow. So over it!

message 22: by Amber (new)

Amber Martingale Deal with it, Angie. According to https://www.popularmechanics.com/scie... , warmer average temps means more snow per storm but a more rapid melt...once it actually starts to melt.

Thanks, I guess.

Melanie (meldoc) | 634 comments My my...I’m reading your threads about warmer weather as we dig our way out of an ice storm lol. Last year we were in shorts, this year our poor Robins and Spring Flowers (as well as freezing humans) are so confused. Sadly Christine it WAS snowing here yesterday...but that’s ok...I turned the fireplace back on and grabbed Greg Isles first Natchez Novel.

Years ago the seasons used to be proper seasons. Cold winter, warm summers. Now it's changeable all year round. The seasons just seem to merge.

message 29: by Perri (new)

Perri | -43 comments rain rain rain, I should have had my garden tilled a month ago and planted with peas and onions. Well, I am getting a lot of reading done :)

message 30: by Angie (new)

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 1462 comments I envy all you snow troubled guys. Since I moved from South-Germany (small town) into a big city in Central Germany I rarely see snow at all and even if it sometime snows during the night it lasts seldom more than one or two hours in the morning. This winter I even stayed up several times to watch it snowing. Other than that I would not see snow last winter.

Since Mid-February it was exceptionally mild we had two weeks in February with temperatures between 15° and 20°, another two in March over 20°. OK most of the time it was still raining but we had already a few summer-feeling-days.

Unfortunatelly I love snow and since an accident 11 years ago have to stay out of sun and heat - so I'm still not as happy as most of my neighbors. It's just impossible to get it right for everyone :-)

For our American friends: 15°C = 59 Fahrenheit, 20° = 68 and 25° = 77 (and we already got 25° twice this year and both during weekends - so most folks are really happy)

Perri | -43 comments It's beautiful, Christine! Agnieszka do you know the town of Ulm? My daughter did a home stay with a family there. Thanks for the temperature translations. :)

message 36: by Angie (new)

Angie Hay (angiebam) | 8 comments I've never been either. I have a sister in law that lived there for 5 years, you'd think I would have gotten my act together and would have gotten out there, right? Nope. My dream is to see Cologne. I hear good things.

Today seems to be way better weather-wise. It's sunny clear blue skies and 30. Can't complain I suppose.

Not really, I traveled twice through the city but you don't see very much from the main routes.
My sister lives near Colonge and she said as well it's a nice city though if you are already there, Düsseldorf (the next big city in the area) is beautiful as well. If you want to visit Cologne you need to check the weather in advance. In periods of much rain with high levels on Rhine the city is usually flooded - each year at least twice (the last 10 years) for several days or weeks.

I haven't even begun to think about gardening this year :(

Patricia Bergman (marshop) | 1229 comments My sister moved to Kentucky from here & is freezing her tush off right now. She tries to stay indoors with the heat on.

I went to college in Oklahoma and it was cold enough that they had heated sidewalks from some sort of blowers. Really cold!

Oh brother, right? My husband works for Metro Transit and all the buses he's been working on this last winter have had a crash itself or someone crashed into them. It's been a busy winter for the union.

You'll find this funny then, when it is in the 30's or 40's we have our windows open while driving! How sad is that? :D
