Review:
I enjoyed this latest installment in the series although I did get frustrated with Lucia and her stubbornness to keep her secrets from Garreth. A lot of the bad probably could have been avoided if she had but then again, we might not have a book if she had! I didn't like the way that she found out her abilities weren't taken away and therefore that made everything okay. I would rather have seen her either choose Garreth in spite of the threat. Of course, all's well that ends well and, as always, we have a great set up for further adventures.

I was utterly bored. You read a lot about what other people say happened. Then there is a little bit of actual hauntings. The main female character denies, denies, denies that there is actually a haunting. Yet she experiences it herself. None of the characters are really interesting to me. The story dragged.

Review:
This is one of my favourite series. Anna is an Omega wolf and a lot stronger than she seems. To others she appears weak and they feel they have to protect her. Her husband Charles is the outward strong one, the assassin of the pack. But this book shows how his heritage makes him doubt himself and also how much he really needs Anna. There are some awful villains in this book but they all get the punishment they deserve.

Review

This is the first book in the Virgin River series and is a reread for me. Melinda Moore answered an ad for a community looking for a nurse/midwife. At first glance, Melinda decides this is exactly what she needs to move forward. She has recently lost her husband and needs a new start in a place where no one knows her. She wants the time to heal and not answer any questions.

Sitting in a ditch in the middle of nowhere, Melinda begins to wonder what possessed her to accept the Virgin River job. The cabin offered to her is an absolute dump, and the old doctor wants her as far away from him as possible. She vows to leave at first light. However, a new mother has other plans for Melinda when leaving a new born baby at the small office/makeshift hospital. Melinda decides to stay and attempt to locate the mother. She also is enjoying the company of Jack, the local (and only) owner of a small tavern.

This was such a fun series. I listened to the entire series on audio, and the narrator is outstanding! Although you can read each installment out of order, I suggest that you do read in the series order since new characters are introduced and then re-introduced in future installments.

A Duchess in Name by Amanda Weaver

Review: This is the first book in the Grantham Girls series by Amanda Weaver. I really enjoyed this book, I will be continuing on in this series. This story centers around Victoria who is not eager to marry, but at the same wants to marry because it will get out of thumb of her parents who seemed to care more about their ambitions then that of their daughter's.
Little does Victoria know that her father tricked and swindled a prominent Lord who is on the verge of ruin to have his son marry her.
I really liked it this plot. I thought this was very well written. I have to admit that the hero in this story was a "jerk" ( This was the kindest word I could come up for him) for the better half of this story. Once he gets to know his wife, he eventually starts to become more bearable. I like the message in this book that a house is not home- its the people inside it that make it a home. I would definitely recommend adding this to your tbr.

Review:
A January Bride was a fun and fast read. I loved how Maddie and Art got to know one another through notes they left for one another, before meeting each other in person. This led to both of them assuming things about the other person, including both of them thinking the other was elderly - lol!

Even though the story is on the short side, it didn't feel hurried or stilted and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

If you enjoy clean contemporary romance and are looking for a shorter book, you should give this book a try.

What can I say? If I didn't love the characters so much, I'd say it's just another serial killer in NYC book. But I do love the characters, watching them grow and change. It's what keeps me coming back. I enjoy the police procedural and suspense - those are interesting - but it's Eve and Roarke, Peabody and Ian, and the rest who I come to read about. I wasn't disappointed this time around, either. I love to watch Eve struggle to balance her growing acceptance of feelings/emotions she has for others with her need to be a by the book cop. Good stuff.

Review:
I was pleasantly surprised, in some ways, with this book. It was originally written back in the 90s but didn't feel dated to me. There were probably times when a cell phone would have come in handy, but for the most part, it could have taken place now. Maybe a little too much awe in the ability of one of James' fellow agents to ferret info from his computer, but even in the current world, a lot of us stand in awe of just what hackers are capable of. There were 2 mysteries within this story, only peripherally related, and it lent a nice twist to the suspense because for awhile you are sure how, if, they related so they sort of acted as red herrings. There was a lot of evil in this book, it could have easily turned into a horror story, but I appreciate that it didn't. The fact that these types of people exist was enough, I didn't need to read gritty details of what they did. In all, I liked the tone of the book and will probably continue to read the series. I may never catch up, but I'll read them as I can.

Because Roarke either owns most everything or has a piece of nearly everything, the majority of the stories are tied to him in some way. Which makes them tied to Eve. Reva works for Roarke in a high security position. Reva's mother is also Roarke's assistant. So this one is very closely connected to Roarke. There's some confusion in what is going on until the story starts getting worked out. And even as the story gets worked out more questions arise. But, like all In Death books, by "The End" you have the full story.

This was a predictable story, I guessed how it would end very early, but there were still enjoyable moments. I particularly liked the wedding scene, it was humorous and similar to Jane Eyre but with a twist. The way the story is told was too wordy/description heavy for my liking, I found myself zoning out and having to re-read sections because I was bored. However, the parts with the characters speaking were very good. All in all, this was an okay read but probably not one I'd recommend.

Another great thriller/mystery. It did get a little confusing but that didn't last long. I was able to pick up on a couple things that didn't fit the original profile. I read this book back in the 80’s and had forgotten about it until the movie was released. Normally, I steer clear of children’s and young adult books. I thought the storyline was ok and to me resembled Narnia. I attempted to listen to the audio which was horrendous. After an hour, I wanted to literally throw my Ipod across the room. The narrator, who happened to be the author, has the worst screeching voice that reminded me of scraping a chalkboard with one’s bear hands. I will continue with the series since I purchased the boxed set for my daughter. She clearly preferred this book more than I did.

I didn't like this one as much as the beginning of the series. Melanie was turned into a whiny, needy heroine. Greyson was just an ass. Neither were really redeeming. The story was mainly sex or about the Underground, even this lacked. Not much about the relationship forming. Hopefully the series will get better again.

Review: This is first book in the Four Hundred series by Joanna Shupe. I absolutely loved this book. I have read some good books for this challenge. But this is the best for me so far. This book takes place during the gilded age. The main character Nora was sent away to live with her Aunt and Uncle in America ( New York) after her father discovered that she was involved in an inappropriate relationship with an artist name Robert. Hoping to get back to Robert. She devises a scheme to create a bigger scandal....that her father will be forced to bring her back home. Hence, having the scandalous Julius Hatcher pose as her fiancé. Julius goes along because he wants a way to get into society and find the men responsible who ruined his father during the great stock market crash. But things get complicated as feeling develop between Nora/Julius. I thought all the characters in this book was written very well. I thought that Nora was bratty at first, but she grew one me. I have to say that I never thought I find the stock market interesting. I highly recommend this book.

This was a difficult book for me. I found it quite interesting but at the same time I just about fell asleep every time I tried to read it. I think my problem was that even though I found the subject fascinating it was dry and there were so many names of all the Doctors and other medical professionals who worked with the cadavers. I did like the part where it tells about how a person can be turned to compost after they died. In the book it is not quite there yet but looking at the internet it seems it is now possible. I could imagine myself being turned into compost.

I was surprised at the level of emotion in this book, especially at the beginning when Raphael and Andrea are seeing each other again for the first time. I like that in the end they both had to work at repairing their relationship but they didn't let their pride and previous pain override their desire to work it out. The magic storyline was a little convoluted to start out but I stuck with it and finally figured it out. I also liked seeing Kate from another person's perspective. That was kind of fun.
