SOLVED. YA - Read in late 90s/early 00s. End of world fiction--think it may have been religious/cult related. [s]

This book was end of the world, apocalyptic type fiction. Fairly sure that the main characters were a teenage boy and girl (they may have fallen in love through the duration). I believe they were either apart of an end of the world Christian group or part of a cult. There was a scene at the end about them sitting on a hill and watching the world burn around them.

The cover was black and orange. I think the words "book" or "wings" may have been in the title but I might be wrong. The author's last name would have been later in the alphabet as it was on the bottom shelf of a small YA section in the library.

I'm not 100% sure if the world actually ended or not.

I would have read this in the late 90s or early 00s.
