I think she did a great job on character development too. Enne didn't even annoy me anymore! Levi still felt kind of whiny throughout, but he went through serious shit like the whole novel so can't really blame him haha. 😅 (hide spoiler)]

I still don't understand what it means that Enne seems to be one of the royals. I know she's in danger because of it, I admire how she fought of the girl who read her blood.

I'm joining a little late, story of my life.

So this is a book that I tried really hard to get a review copy of but couldn't. So I'm thrilled to finally get my hands on a copy and have the chance to read this book. I just finished Strange the Dreamer and wanted to follow it up with something that wouldn't totally disappoint me and send me into a reading slump. So I have high hopes for this one.

Day 1 end of Enne's ch (or the first chapter) (view spoiler)[ The setting seems reminiscent of what I would expect to find in a Dickens tale or industrial London. I also didn't expect a prissy, high strung lady to be the main character, but maybe I should have read the blurb. I already kind of don't like Enne. Probably because she referred to the City of Sin as disgusting and I think it should be fun and exciting. She's trying to stay out of trouble when I want to read about it. But it looks like the plot might have her in some regardless. Also appears that the POV will switch, so if I don't like her I'm not totally lost.


Also, I'm super excited that there is a gang. I have always been obsessed with gangsters. (hide spoiler)]
