”Mmm. He did. He still looks more like you though. There isn’t gonna be a way to hide it. The other weres are gonna know who their dad is,” Kai commented, concern edging into his voice as he watched their sons. He wanted their sons to be safe, to protect them. Someone had already been mad enough to try and kill him while he was pregnant, who was to say that someone else wouldn’t try? Kai shook his head to himself and nuzzled into Nyx’s shoulder. He just wanted them to be a family together, to raise their sons together. But they couldn’t because of that damned hierarchy. ”You’ll come see them as much as possible, right?” he queried, his voice muffled by Nyx’s shirt.

Kai took a deep breath as Nyx assured him. The more time they spent together, the easier he seemed to be able to tell what he was worried about. "Just come over as much as possible." was all he said in response. He sat there in quiet for a few more moments until, inevitably, Desmond began to cry. Kai straightened himself out and started to bounce him gently to try and calm him. After a few minutes of that, Kai's mother stood up and walked over. "He's probably hungry again. I'll go warm up some milk and feed him. You rest, hon," she said, gently lifting Desmond into her arms. "Alpha, follow me. We'll put him in a swing out here and Y'all can have some quiet time," Kai's mother instructed. Nyx may be her leader, and she still respected him by saying his title and not his name, but when it came to the health and care of her grandkids, she didn't give suggestions or leave things open. They had to be done and they had to be done when she said so.

"It's only my duty, Alpha. He is my son and they are my grandsons. I would never not care for them," Kai's mother replied, ignoring what Nyx had said about his title. She was old and set in her ways. She followed tradition. "Place Isaiah in the swing right there. Make sure his head is between the cushions," she instructed, gesturing with her chin and watching Nyx for a moment. She returned her attention to the fussing pup in her arms and shifted him so he was held in one arm while she put milk in the microwave. "Go back to Kai, Alpha," she told him, keeping her eyes on Desmond.
((Sorry. Life's a bitch.))

Nyx nodded slightly, biting his lip but not gonna force her to call him Nyx. “If you want, I’m usually up at night. I can get up and take care of them if you’ll teach me a bit..” He offered softly. He kissed Isaiah’s forehead gently. “It’s okay little one..” he assured softly before gently setting him in the swing with his head between the cushions as he was instructed. Nyx straightened and looked at her. “Are you sure there’s nothing more I can do?” He asked, feeling like he was just gonna be a bother if they wouldn’t let him help.

Kai's mother took out the bottle and placed the nipple in Desmond's mouth, looking up as he started to feed. She smiled softly at him, holding the bottle in one hand as she held Desmond in the other arm. "I will certainly teach you, Alpha. I will teach both go you. However, for now, go spend time with Kai. This will be the last time that you two can be alone. Enjoy it," she prompted, looking back down at Desmond as he fed. She then made a point of ignoring Nyx but turned towards the baby swing to keep an eye on Isaiah as well.

Kai shifted in his bed as he listened to the soft murmurings between Nyx and his mother. The talking soon stopped and moments later, Nyx appeared in his room. "Mmm. That's good. Maybe we can just rest a little bit," he replied, leaning into Nyx. All things considered, Kai was exhausted but he wanted to spend some more quiet moments together with Nyx before their lives became the epitome of chaos. Having twins was not a exceedingly rare occurrence for weres. What what be insane was raising to young were boys. They would be spazes until they mellowed out at about 5 or 6.

Kai shook his head and looked up at him. ”I want to spend time with you,” he replied, tipping his head up and kissing his cheek. At that moment, he was struck with the realization that furthering their relationship from where it was was going to be exceedingly difficult with twins in the mix. Especially since they would never be able to go out, even if Kai’s parents watched their sons for a few hours. ”Yeah. I want to stay up with you,” Kai stated again, resting his head on his shoulder and curling close to him in the bed.

Nyx watched him for a moment, smiling softly st the kiss. “I know you do. I just don’t want to be keeping you up.. you’re probably not going to be getting much sleep now anyways.” He commented. He shifted and wrapped his arms around him. He kissed the top of his head. “I love you Kai..” he said, resting his head on his.

Kai shrugged. "I won't get to see you much either," he replied softly then smiled. "I love you too, Nyx." It had taken him so long for him to fall in love with Nyx, especially after the struggle at the beginning. Yet, now that he had, Kai could not deny that he loved him. He loved Nyx and he loved their pups. If only things had been different and they could be open and show their love and raise their pups together. "I wish we could raise them together," Kai whispered after a long pause. He wanted to make sure that Desmond and Isaiah knew their daddy and knew who he was and that he loved them. Kai wanted all of that and more.

"I hope so. I really do," Kai murmured, his eyes growing involuntarily heavy with sleep. He tucked his face into Nyx's neck and curled close to him, his hands resting on his chest. Kai said a few more unintelligible words before his eyes fell and he drifted off to sleep.
((Sorry this is short. Should we skip somewhere?)

((It’s alright. Mine was short too. We can skip, I don’t know where to though?))

Nyx sighed softly. It was early evening and he was finally done with stuff for the day. He hadn’t been sleeping much between going back and forth to Kai and the twins and getting up with them whenever they woke up in the night. He went back to his apartment and took a quick shower, getting dressed before heading back fo Kai’s place. He finally had a key so he quietly let himself in. He smiled and shut the door behind him, looking around for Kai.

Kai was absolutely exhausted. Their sons were now two and a half months old and there were some days when he wished he didn't have two little ones relying on him. At the moment, both boys were in their cribs in the nursery, hopefully napping for a few hours. Kai sat on the couch and closed his eyes, letting out a soft groan. He nearly drifted off before one started crying again. Kai let out a heavy sigh and pushed himself up off the couch. "Me too, baby. Me too," he murmured to himself and swiftly made his way into the room. It was Desmond. "Oh. Baby boy. What are we crying about, hmm? What's wrong?"

Kai jumped a bit as Nyx wrapped an arm around him. However, he was his saving grace as he took Desmond from him and held him in his own arms. "He's probably hungry. I can warm up some milk," he replied quietly, reaching up and giving him a kiss on the cheek before leaving the room to heat up the milk for Desmond. He took one bag from the fridge and emptied it into a baby bottle, then placing it into the microwave. "It'll be done in a couple minutes," Kai informed, rather absentmindedly. He wasn't sure why he had said that since Nyx knew how it worked by that point.

Kai was hesitant to do that. It wasn't because he didn't trust Nyx, because he did. Kai trusted Nyx with their pups more than almost anyone. But the mothering part of him wanted to stay near them just in case something happened. He was drawn to his pups because he wanted to protect them and be there for them. At the same time, a nap sounded absolutely wonderful and his bed was the most inviting place at the moment. "Alright. I'll lay down for a while. Wake me if you need anything," Kai answered, looking over at him. He brushed his thumb over Desmond's cheek affectionately before padding off to his bedroom, softly closing the door. Kai sat on his bed and didn't even bother with the covers as he laid down.

Kai was asleep in minutes, stretched out across the bed, not in the mood for caring. He was exhausted and all he wanted was sleep, he didn’t care how he got it. Kai rolled over as Nyx came, causing him to face Nyx as he slept. He mumbled quietly as he was jostled and shifted closer. ”Nyx,” he whispered, talking in his sleep. A nap with Nyx probably would have been better in Kai’s opinion but he would take what he could get.

Kai fell back asleep, curled up close to Nyx. As the two laid there together, the twins slept peacefully in their nursery. But only for a time as Isaiah woke up a few hours later and decided to scream his lungs off. He kicked and screamed in his bassinet, wanting attention and to be fed as he elder twin had been only a few hours ago.

Isaiah calmed down a little bit when Nyx picked him up but continued to cry and squirm. He looked up at his father, his green eyes bright through his tears as he peered up at him. Isaiah fussed as Nyx got the bottle ready but once it was in his mouth, the pup settled down. He down the down the bottle in no time, cooing and squirming when he had finished.

Isaiah, being stubborn so young, showed no signs of sleepiness and raised his hands, making grabbing motions at the air. Isaiah gurgled, cooing and squealing. He clearly intended on staying up for the time being.
Kai had woken up, the curse of a weird sleep schedule, and had padded out into the living room. He leaned against the doorjamb, resting his head there too. Kai's lips turned into a soft smile as he watched the two of them together. He didn't get to see many moments like that because he was usually asleep when Nyx was there. "Bring him to the bedroom," Kai suggested softly, still smiling sweetly at them.

Kai turned and walked back into their bedroom. He sat on the bed and scooted over to his side. "Here," he murmured and gently took Isaiah from Nyx's arms, laying him down on the bed so that the pup would be between them. Kai laid on his side and propped his head up with his hand, elbow on the mattress. "This is worth missing sleep for," Kai commented quietly, placing a hand on Isaiah's stomach and making gentle circles, hoping to calm him to sleep. He looked up at his mate and smiled softly at him. Oh, if so many other things were different. But Kai was happy, content, with what he had.

Kai returned his answer to the little pup as he grabbed at his daddy's fingers and smiled a naked smile, no teeth in sight. "It's not, if I'm being honest, but I wouldn't trade any of it in. All those terrible things brought us here, as cheesy as that sounds. We have two beautiful pups and while how we're together isn't ideal, at least we are. As long as they grow up to know you, I'm okay," Kai stated, giving his speech in soft tones. He watched their pup the whole time but looked up as he finished speaking.

"It's probably going to be quite a while still. My mother said that I didn't sleep through the night consistently until I was a year and a half old but every child is different. So, in other words, I'm not so certain as to when that will happen. Hopefully soon for all our sakes," Kai answered with a soft chuckle. He fell silent for a moment as he watched their pup but was still listening for Desmond's cries, if he was to wake up. He leaned forward a little and placed a kiss on Nyx's cheek. It was something he had been doing a lot more often recently.

Kai smiled and kept the smile over his face as he brushed his thumb gently across their sons's cheek. For a while, he just laid there with the two of them, not once hearing the elder twin cry. The moment was peaceful and sweet and he loved it so much. When Isaiah had finally fallen asleep, Kai took the little pup into his arms and sat up on the bed. "I'll be right back," he whispered to Nyx, although he wasn't looking at him. Kai tiptoed to the nursery and almost grinned when he laid him down and let without either of them stirring. Kai made a quick escape and crawled back into the bed, pulling the blanket over himself.

Kai curled up close to his mate and rested his head on his chest. "I'll see what I can do about falling back asleep," he quipped but still stayed close to him, sleepier than he would care to admit. "I hope you can stay during the day soon so we can spend some actual time together. Even if it means the pups are up too," Kai commented, drawing random shapes on Nyx's chest.
((I'm sorry that these keep getting shorter.))
