(Since there’s gonna be a twin, do you want two boys or a boy and a girl?)Nyx was still out meeting with the rest of the betas and most of the tribe, them already putting the attacker on trial. They never liked to wait for that sort of thing, preferring to serve justice as quickly as possible.
The note was long. The handwriting was quick and messy, like Nyx s hand had been shaking at the time. ‘Luna, I’m so sorry you got attacked. I guess I wasn’t being careful enough about seeing you and everything and I put you and our pup in danger. I’m so sorry...
I have to go through the whole trial thing of the attacker now. Which means I have to claim that I didn’t get you pregnant and that we aren’t together. It’s practically denying you again. But there’s no choice. If I don’t do so, the beta won’t be killed and could come back and hurt you again or get other people to do so. I can’t put you at risk like that. I can’t. Im gonna make sure this bastard dies for just trying to harm you. And then after this, I don’t know. I’ll try and keep seeing you as much as I can but I’ll need to be super careful still.
I love you though, Okay? Through all this Luna. I love you. I’m gonna do the best I can to make this right for you and for our pup. I’ll try to be better about protecting you two. I’m sorry. I’m sorry this happened. I’ll try and come see you as soon as I can. -Your Luna’

I'm flexible.))After he finished reading the letter, Kai set it down on his lap and clenched his tremoring hands. It was comforting to know that he would go this far to protect him. he knew it would take a lot to deny him for the second time, especially now that he was pregnant with his pup. Kai took a deep breath and closed his eyes, settling himself. Hopefully, it wouldn't take him long and Kai could see Nyx again soon. For now, he rejoiced in the knowledge that he was carrying a male pup. Kai had imagined a boy since the beginning. He had always wanted a son. Kai would have loved to have a daughter too, make no mistake. A boy had always been what he daydreamed about when he thought about his future. "I love you, little one. So does your daddy," he whispered, gently caressing his belly.
((Two boys is good with me. I just wanted to check and see)It was almost nightfall when Nyx was finally done meeting with the pack about what to do with the attacker. His speaking part was done for testimony at least as was the attacker’s. The other members who would act like a jury wanted to speak to dr carter though to learn of the extent of Kai’s injuries and if it would’ve been fatal had Nyx not quickly intervened. But all that would continue in the morning. The attacker was locked up tight for the night and the trial would likely be done and the punishment served by tomorrow.
It took Nyx another hour or so but he finally got away from everyone and made it back to the hospital. He quietly went in and to Kai’s room, the hospital pretty empty and quiet. It would stay that way the rest of the night. He tapped lightly on the door before pushing it open. He came in and shut it behind him before going over to Kai. “Hey...” He said softly.
Kai waited up for as long as his body would let him. After a while, he dozed off, his hand resting on his stomach. The sound of Nyx knocking woke him and as his Luna stepped into his room, Kai rubbed his eyes. "Hey," he murmured softly, looking at him with a tired expression. A nurse had come in a while beforehand and given him some more painkillers which were part of the reason why he was so tired. Not to mention the whole ordeal he had gone through. "Will you sit...?" he queried softly as he looked at him. Nyx looked just as tired as he felt but who could blame him? Now that Nyx was here and Kai could smell that sweet scent, he wanted to be near him and to be held by him.
Nyx came over to him. “Yeah. Of course..” he nodded, pulling over a chair and flopping down into it. He looked Kai over worriedly, trying to hide his own exhaustion for a few so as to not worry him. He gently reached and put his hand over Kai’s hand and belly, relaxing slightly once he did so. “Sorry it took me so long to get back here. We did most of the trial stuff already...” he explained softly, shifting and watching Kai. He bit his lip lightly, wishing he could just never leave his side so he wouldn’t have to worry about Kai being hurt again.
Kai intertwined his fingers with Nyx’s, watching their hands before he looked back up at his Luna. ”It’s okay,” he replied softly. ”I understand. But hey. I have something exciting to tell you,” Kai announced, a small smile creeping onto his cheeks. He hoped that amongst all this, Nyx would be able to find the same joy in it that he had.
((Sorry it is so short. I kept falling asleep while writing.))
((It’s alright!)Nyx rubbed his hand gently with his thumb. Being near him and seeing that he was Okay was calming him down. The tension was gone from his shoulders, him now slumped a bit in the chair with exhaustion. He smiled softly at the sight of Kai’s smile. “Really? What would that be?” He asked softly, thinking to try and figure out what it was.
Kai bit his lip and he smiled as he waited. "Well, Carter said that when he was making sure the pup was okay, he found out the gender," he explained, playfully leaving him in a bit of suspense. "It's a male pup. We're gonna have a little boy," Kai finally said, the awe in his voice the same as when he felt the baby kick for the first time. Quietly he shifted their hands so Nyx's was under his. Gently, he led his hand to the spot, away from his wound, where the baby was kicking. "Are you happy?" Kai questioned, looking up at him. He hoped he was, that maybe it would brighten what was left of his day. While Kai had come to admit that he loved Nyx, he wanted to please him and make sure he was happy too.
Nyx nodded. He raised an eyebrow when Kai paused but smiled a bit when he told him. “A boy? That’s awesome Kai..” he said softly, smiling at him. He rested his hand gently on Kai’s belly, feeling the kick. “Yes. I am happy. I’ve got an amazing and strong Luna. And we’re gonna have a son.” He said, a bit excited as well. Nyx moved close to the bed, leaning over and kissing Kai’s temple.
Kai's smile broke out into a larger one and he happily received his affections. He hoped that one day the two of them could just be mates. He wanted a happy little family, one that he could be proud and brag about. That's all he wanted out of life. Kai took a small breath and held onto Nyx's hand a bit tighter. "Will you come tomorrow?" he queried softly, looking up at him. He wasn't exactly keen on having him leave him at all but he knew that Nyx had things he needed to do... To protect him and their pup, their son.
Nyx smiled gently at him. He didn’t think too far ahead about the future most of the time. Mainly because it stressed him out as he tried to figure out and plan really far ahead. He nodded. “Yeah. Of course I’ll come back tomorrow to see you. It’ll likely be pretty late though.” He commented, shrugging slightly. “And I can stay till early morning with you tonight if you’d like me to..”
Kai chewed on his lip and he gave a slight nod. "Alright. You don't have to stay long if you're too tired. I want you to sleep too," he murmured, reaching over and touching his cheek gently. Kai's feelings towards Nyx had grown since a few months ago. As days had gone by and they had spent more time with one another, he had grown more affectionate towards his Luna. Kai cared deeply about Nyx. He wanted him to be okay and take care of himself. Sometimes it scared Kai a little bit that maybe he would stop caring for him.
“It’s my job to keep an eye on you and watch over you though.” Nyx reminded him softly. “Plus, I don’t really have anywhere better to be.” He commented. He looked him over quietly. He loved him, that was for sure. When exactly that he started loving him, Nyx wasn’t sure. He just knew that now he would do absolutely anything for Kai, whatever he needed or wanted. He yawned softly and shifted slightly in the uncomfortable chair.
Kai didn’t have the heart to fight him. ”Just make sure you get some rest, okay?” he questioned, his expression tender and his eyes soft as he waited for his answer. Kai made a soft noise as their son kicked and he gently placed his hand on the spot, massaging it. ”Calm down, little one,” he murmured, his lips tilting up in a smile met just for their pup. ”Only a month and a half and we can meet this troublemaker,” Kai commented happily, raising his eyes to look back at Nyx once more.
“I will Luna. Don’t worry about me.” Nyx assured him gently. He smiled softly at him and glanced st Kai’s stomach when the pup kicked again. He glanced back up at Kai and nodded. “Yeah. Not much longer. And he’s definitely seeming like a bit of a trouble maker. Or maybe he’s just excited to meet you already.” Nyx commented, shrugging slightly.
Kai lived the thought of their pup wanting to meet them. ”Maybe so,” he replied softly and watched his stomach as their pup moved and kicked. Kai couldn’t wait to meet him. And to think he almost could have lost their pup. Kai bit his lip and teared up a bit thinking about it. ”Thank you, Nyx. I don’t know what you were doing at my apartment and I really don’t care but thank you. You saved my life,” Kai whispered, choking on his words as he spoke. He couldn’t think of something that made him more sure that Nyx loved him.
Nyx felt the kicks and gently rubbed Kai’s stomach. “Settle down little one. It’s alright..” he said gently, guessing that it had to be making Kai sore with his stomach being all stitched up. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there just a Little bit sooner..” he mumbled. “I didn’t have anything to do for a bit and I wanted to check in and surprise you and that’s why I was there..” he explained quietly, keeping his hand on Kai’s stomach. “I’ll Always protect you, Okay?” He assured softly.

Nyx felt the kicks and gently rubbed Kai’s stomach. “Settle down little one. It’s alright..” he said gently, guessing that it had to be making Kai sore with his stomach being all stitched up. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there just a Little bit sooner..” he mumbled. “I didn’t have anything to do for a bit and I wanted to check in and surprise you and that’s why I was there..” he explained quietly, shrugging. Nyx noticed Kai tearing up and stood up, leaning over and lightly kissing his forehead. “It’s okay Kai. I’ll protect you.” He assured. Nyx sat back after a moment, watching him. “Do I need to go by your apartment and get you anything? I’ve got a lot of time so I can go and be back pretty quickly.” He offered, shrugging slightly. He didn’t know how else to help him.
Kai raised his chin as Nyx kissed his forehead and he gave a weak nod. He didn’t doubt that he would but his exhaustion was finally catching up to him. ”Hmm? Oh. Probably but I can’t think of anything at the moment. My brain is too tired to think,” he replied with a quiet chuckle to himself. ”Actually, could you just get someone and tell them that the pain medicine is wearing off?” Kai queried, looking up at him. He thought as he did so. Nyx was incredibly dedicated go him. It was hard to miss that. Kai hoped that that led to their pup having a pretty strong relationship with them despite the fact Kai didn’t think he’d been around pups too much. Then again, it was always different when it was your pup.
“Okay. Well just let me know if you think of something?” Nyx asked softly. He nodded slightly and got up when Kai asked him to get someone. “I’ll be right back.” He assured before quietly leaving the room. Nyx came back after a minute with a nurse, an older lady with dark curly hair. “Hey Kai.. he said your pain starting to come back?” She asked softly, coming over to check on him and the pup. Nyx came back in. He stayed out of the nurses way, sitting back in the chair by the bed. He slipped off his shoes and sat criss cross. He was still worrying and it showed, him being s bit more fidgety. He watched Kai and the nurse, listening.
Kai watched his mate leave the room, returning only a few minutes later with a nurse. He had stopped sitting up a bit and had moved to lie down completely in the hopes it would relieve some of the pain. ”Yes, ma’am. It’s pretty uncomfortable,” he replied quietly, his face occasionally screwing up from the pain. His hands started to shake from the pain and he reached out one of his trembling hands to Nyx. Kai needed the support, as much as he hated relying on people. If this pain was bad, what was birth going to feel like? Kai didn’t want to know.
The nurse nodded. “Alright. I can give you some more medicine. Just so you know, it will likely make you and your pup sleepy. So you won’t feel him moving around as much but we’ve got a monitor on him so we can make sure he’s okay..” she explained. “I’ll go get you the medicine.” She left for a moment. Nyx took Kai’s hand and put his other hand on top of it. He rubbed his hand gently as he spoke with the nurse. “I’m sorry Luna.” He whispered, not knowing how to help him. He bit his lip worriedly. “How can I help?” He asked, looking over st him.
The nurse came back with a vial of medicine and a syringe so they could just give it to him through the Iv. “This should help Kai.
Kai listened quietly as the nurse spoke and he habitually put his hand on his baby bump. The thought of not being able to feel his pup moving around scared him but he trusted the nurse. His eyes followed her around for a second before falling back on Nyx. ”Just stay with me,” he replied, giving a lopsided smile through his pain. His free hand trembled still and he gripped the blanket his laid under, trying to stop the shaking. A few moments later, the nurse did some adjusting to his IV then quickly and efficiently gave him the pain medicine through the IV, afterward putting him back on the fluids. Kai gave a small nod of thanks when she had finished and closed his eyes, willing it to work quickly.
"It's just cause the medicine we give you goes to him as well and will make him a bit sleepy and more relaxed too. But considering how badly your stomach is damaged, him settling down is probably for the best for both of you." She explained as she finished giving him the medicine. She glanced at Nyx. "Come get me again Alpha if he needs anything." She said before leaving.Nyx nodded. "Understood ma'am." He watched her leave before focusing back on Kai. He moved his chair close to the bed. "I'm not going anywhere. I swear." He assured. "Not until you send me away or I have to go."
Kai gave Nyx a weak smile but still held on tightly to his hand. He let his head relax on the pillow and squeezed his eyes shut. Kai finally opened his eyes after some minutes of quiet, turning his head to look at Nyx. He had the urge to thank Nyx again but he pressed his lips together to keep the words from escaping. It wasn't long before he started to feel drowsy. Kai's eyes moved down to his stomach, having not felt a kick in a little while. "I can't wait to see him," he mumbled absentmindedly. It wouldn't be too much longer before he would be asleep. Which would probably be for the best since he did need to rest quite a bit more to get better.
When Kai closed his eyes, Nyx shifted and slumped a bit in the chair, trying to relax and stop worrying so much. He glanced around the room quietly, trying to figure out what more he could do for Kai to help him. He glanced at Kai when he spoke. “I know. I can’t either.” He smiled a bit at him. “Just close your eyes and sleep Kai. I can’t promise that I’ll be here when you wake up but I will come back as soon as I can if I’m not here.” He told him quietly, rubbing his hand. Nyx checked his phone, making sure Riley or anyone didn’t need him. Even if they did need him, unless it was really important or something that would affect him and Kai, he wasn’t planning on leaving.

Kai laid in bed, exhausted but happy as he held not one, but two, baby boys in his arms. He had agonized for two hours when he had finally given birth to the first one. Kai had thought that was it until he started contracting again and gave birth to another boy. While unexpected, Kai loved them both immensely. Once his parents had helped clean him and his sons up, they moved from their bathroom to the spare bedroom. Now, he laid in bed, waiting for his dad to return with Nyx as had been arranged. He looked down at the older of the two twins, marked by the Alpha sign on his neck, as he started to fuss. ”Shh. It’s okay, baby,” he whispered, rocking the little boy in his arms as he mother held the younger in her arms. The boys both had marks on their necks that showed their status. The older boy was an Alpha and the younger was an Omega. Those marks would fade as they got older and when they reached 16, those marks would be tattooed on their wrists. Kai held the older twin close and gently kissed his forehead as he cried in his arms.
Nyx finally arrived with Kai’s dad. He thanked him quietly for driving, grabbing his backpack and getting out of the car. Kai’s father led him inside and to the bedroom, knocking softly on the door before letting Nyx come in. Nyx came into the room, setting his backpack by the door. He went over to Kai, tilting his head for a moment when he realized Kai and his mom were both holding a bundle. “Twins?” He asked softly in surprise, smiling a bit and looking at Kai.
Kai looked up as someone knocked on the door and Nyx came in. He nodded slightly and smiled at him. ”The young one was a surprise. He came almost an hour after his brother,” he stated softly, looking up at him. Kai wanted to enjoy this moment with his Luna. He wasn’t going to talk about or worry about their pups’ new social status. For a moment, he wanted to live his dream of having a quiet family and enjoy the moment altogether. Kai’s mom walked over to Nyx as she held the younger one in her arms and gestured with her chin to a chair by the bed. ”Sit and I’ll give him to you,” she told him with a light smile.
Nyx grinned and nodded. He leaned down and gave Kai a quick soft kiss. He pulled away after a moment. “I love you Luna.” He told him softly. He looked down to their son in Kai’s arms for s moment, completely focused on them. He glanced up at his mom and nodded. “Oh. Alright..” he sat down and took the pup from her. He held him gently, looking st him in awe. “Hi there little one.” He said softly, excited and happy to meet their two pups. He glanced back at Kai after a moment, still grinning. He didn’t care about their ranking marks, just wanting to be with Kai and their two sons.
Kai’s eyes followed his mother as she laid the younger pup in his Luna’s arms. His heart melted as he watched Nyx’s expression go from excitement to pure awe. This was what he had always wanted. He smiled as he watched them but his eyes quickly turned back to the older twin as he started to fuss again. ”Shhh, now. You’ll wake your brother,” he murmured, rocking him gently and kissing his forehead once more. He looked down at the pup, his blue eyes bright. The older one was the only pup that inherited any of Kai’s physical characteristics. The older twin had bright blue eyes and blond hair which certainly would not darken more than Nyx’s. The younger twin was the spitting image of Nyx. He had the same hair as his older twin but instead had Nyx’s dazzling green eyes. Kai loved his pups all the same. After a moment of the sweet silence, his mom having retreated to another chair in the corner of the room should they need her, Kai looked back at his Luna. ”What will we name them?” he queried softly, holding the older pup close to his chest.
Nyx held the younger pup close in his arms. He pressed a soft Kiss to their forehead, smiling a bit. He glanced back to Kai. “I dunno. Jem, Desmond and Roe are the first names we talked about initially.” He shrugged, trying to think and see if the names fit their pups. “I can come sit with you if you want so we can be closer.” He offered to Kai, wanting to be close to him but also knowing he was exhausted and probably sore so he didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.
Kai nodded. ”Of course you can come closer. Don’t be silly,” he replied with a sweet smile. He looked back down at the pup as he opened his eyes just a tad and squirmed in his arms. ”What if we name the older one Desmond Roe and the younger one Isaiah Bailey?” he murmured softly after thinking for a moment. Kai let himself think about their statuses for a moment because he wanted a name that would represent their elder son’s status. Something strong and powerful as he would likely become the next Alpha of the pack one day.
Nyx smiled a bit. He got up, careful to try and not rouse the younger twin as he moved and sat on the bed right by Kai. The pup woke up slightly and squirmed a bit, starting to fuss. “Shh.. it’s okay..” he said softly, rocking him gently until he settled back down. Nyx wasn’t 100% sure that he was doing stuff right but he was trying his best and was extremely grateful that Kai and his mother were there because he knew there was no way he’d be very good at any of this on his own. Nyx smiled a bit, looking st their two sons. He noted how they both looked a bit more like him but at least one had gotten Kai’s pretty blue eyes. He shifted and stayed close to Kai. “I like those names. They’re both good strong names for them.” He agreed softly, looking between their two boys and repeating the names in his mind.
Nyx’s response made Kai smile. ”Desmond and Isaiah...” he whispered, kissing Desmond on the forehead. The little boy cooed, squirming in his swaddled blanket. Kai held the little bundle close to him, looking down at him with adoration. He loved his two sons more he ever could have imagined. They were his pride, his new reason to live. Kai could not imagine what he would have done if he had lost them those few months ago. ”I’m so happy,” he murmured, leaning over a bit to rest his head on Nyx’s shoulder.
