It's not a hopeful start-right away Warner is having a really rough time dealing with the loss of his father, Juliette is struggling with the reality of being leader (although she sounds so stupid that she expected none of this, surely she's not that naive), and there's already distance between Warner and Juliette. He's hiding from her that the other leaders want to speak to him instead of Juliette, and I'm not sure why. I do like how he and Adam are beginning to get to know each other, it's really nice to see. The writing is so different, none of the characters feel true to who they were in the previous series and there's only weeks between the 2. It's lost it's spark and the writing seems sloppy-there's no direction, or perhaps too many directions, there seems to be no planning and things keep coming out of nowhere. I'm reading because I love these characters and I want it to get better, but so far I'm disappointed. It's nice to see Kenji get a love interest though, and Warner and Juliette finally got some cute scenes just over 20% in. (hide spoiler)]

My husband deserves the best. To be honest, I can't say Warnette's story is the most interesting thing to me because... Kenji. I am really happy Tahereh shared a bit of his background, but I need MORE! I cannot wait to see other Supreme Leaders, we might get finally some good dystopian vibes.

I am not convinced about Castle either, he is def suspicious. Maybe traitor? The best moment in the book so far? Seeing Addie so beat up. YOU DESERVE THAT. And I don't care about your apologies, I will never forgive you, bro. (hide spoiler)]

I wonder what the poison has done to her that she's experiencing hallucinations. It's so frustrating that Warner won't just tell her what he knows, so many issues could be avoided if he did. I like Nazeera a lot, she's a strong woman and I hope she's on Juliette's side. (hide spoiler)]

Emmaline is almost predictable, and what Warner did is just who he was before he met Juliette. Many people complained about world building and lack of information in three previous books, now we are finally getting it.
I can tell it's gonna be one hell of a ride, becase... OMG? Juliette having sis? Warner torturing her? What the hell? The only thing keeping me sane is Kenji and his jokes. Not sure how to feel about Ibrahims... I really hope Nazeera is good though. Am I the only one who imagined her as Tahereh? xD (hide spoiler)]

75 % (view spoiler)[So Nazeera can fly. Wow. Expecting something like that though. I hope she'll help Juliette because... man. Warnette broke up... I mean. NOOOOOO. It was to be expected after revelation, but still... I am proud of Aaron to tell her. I really am.
And the funniest thing? Eventhough I felt completely heartbroken after the breakup and was worried about Warner's possible overdose, I was laughing. Damned Kenji and his way of talking!
I might be a little bit masochistic, but I want to see Juliette destroy the shit out of the world. Go, J the Destroyer. Show your true powers. That's all I want rn. And making up with your amazing boyfriend, of course. (hide spoiler)]

First... drunk Juliette? Would be good if she didn't have million other things to process and deal with. Her haircut? Well... I guess Warnette got pretty bald. I don't care about Lena at all. Not necessary for main plot. Juliette's new ability is kind of... Idk.
She killed almost 600 people in one blow. Kenji better be okay.
And this thing with Oceania? WHAAAAAAT? Poor Nazeera.

I've finished it and I'm confused. The characters are almost the same but I'm not a big fan of the plot. I don't know why Mafi made things that complicated. I still love it (we have Warner and Kenji ) but I was expecting something else. I'll wait to see what happens in the next book to decide if Mafi was right or not.

I think that there were hints of a lot of this in the first trilogy though. I mean I get that its complicated but it's also been a plot in the making for quite a while especially considering the revelations of parentage.

I love Nazeera. Hands down my favourite of the new characters! I kind of hope that her and Kenji get together since I think that they would be cute. I'm glad that we have Nazeera since I'm not sure how much I trust the other children of the sumpremes of the Reestablishment.

I just want to see Warner + Jamie's relationship development. I think that Jamie could do a lot to help Warner open up and get outside of the small bubble of people he cares about.

The story is still consistant, it's not like she created a whole new events. But I feel that she went too far, I don't know how exactly, it's just a feeling. Anyway, It's still great to see Warner, Kenji and the whole crew again .

I totally agree! I think that because she ended the first 3 books without this plot in mind, there are no clues that this would happen in those first 3 books, and for something this major, there would have been earlier clues. It doesn't fit at all with what we know.

I saw an short interview with Mafi on Epic Reads and her answers were kind of blah. Like they asked why she decided to continue the series now, and her answer was that she re read the first books and thought she could add to it. I wonder how many ideas she actually had. I'm almost done and I did like seeing these characters again, but the plot was pretty minimal. Oh well. Yay Warner and Kenji!

(view spoiler)[ Hi Aly. congratulation for finishing it. I find the idea of her parents is a little bit weird too along with their sudden interest in her. Anderson almost killed her and they didn't mind (and we know they knew since he shared with them everything on a daily basis).
As for her hurting her friends, it very likely that she did it accidentally because she doesn't really contrôle her powers (even if the bullets did already a great damage). I find also that the death of her friend was useless, heartbreaking and so quick that we didn't get to feel it.
It's still enjoyable over all :) and I'm waiting for the next book for more explanations (hide spoiler)]
