Alexis Guerra The book I chose to do my second review on was Wonder by R.J. Palacio. When I first started reading this book it was very hard for me to get engaged and connect with the characters, however the more I read about August and everyone different view point I couldn't put the book down. There is a series on Netflix called 13 Reasons Why that reminds me of this book only because they have similar structure in the way they are set up to tell the story. The book and series are told through other peoples perspectives, along with the main character August, that is why you are getting more than one persons side of the story. All the characters stole my heart while reading their perspective. Via, but really wanted to be called Olivia was always known as the sisters of a deformed kid never known for being just Olivia. Never being known as her own person. She was also used to her problem and needs coming second because of August. She thinks she goes unnoticed sometimes. Her character has such a big heart for her brother and will do just about anything to protect him so all this overlooking her she lets go. Going through school there are always those types of kids like julian the mean popular ones that will do anything to get kids to like them and then there are the ones like Jack Will who are genuinely nice kids, but have a hard time not being followers at first. On the other hand there are kids like Summer who are do not have a mean bone in their body and do not care what other kids think. There needs to be more kids like this. Lastly there is the famous August. For a ten year old boy faces many challenges that not a lot of people face in a lifetime. People always staring, kids constantly picking on him, but once a couple of people started being nice it was like a domino effect. He started out at school hiding behind his hair, but in the end makes friendship that lead him to branch out and not wanting to be like every other kid. He was finally happy.
