I just realized I have been neglecting my book discussion!
Part Four is covering Reconstruction in Atlanta.
I have to say, half the time Scarlett is pretty bad ass for standing up and taking charge when women at the time usually stayed at home and kept quiet.
The other half of the time, Scarlett is spreading her bitchy behavior all over Georgia and I find myself shaking my head.
In both cases, the book is very entertaining!

I also do like the book. Though I think my reading enjoyment suffers from spreading it out and reading in parallel to other books. When I first read this some years ago, it took me just a few days because I couldn't put it down (and still had a seemingly infinite amount of time to do whatever I felt like doing ;) ) and I proceeded with Scarlett right afterwards. This time, whenever I return to it after a while, I kind of have to force myself to continue.I do agree though that Scarlett can by quite charming and strong, but she certainly is also highly frustrating. (I would probably harbor an intense dislike for her mixed with a secret desire to be a little more like that every now and then if I knew her in real life).
I always admired Scarlett because my mother thought this book was the best thing ever written. Mom really admired her for surviving times which were super hard and not only surviving but doing well. She did walk all over other people with no regard for their feelings. The first time I read this book my sister and I fought over it as we could not put it down and had to do our school work.
