~KarenH~ | 11344 comments Hey, Breann!

I've finished three of your recommendations in the last couple of days, and I enjoyed them all! Doe and the Wolf was just what I have come to expect from Eve Langlais - funny, a little silly, but just plain fun. Crave The Night was not my favorite of the series, but still very good, and really advanced the overall story. And BTW I Love You was just plain sweet! Thanks for the great recommendations - I'm going to try to get to more by the end of the month, but need to switch gears to my Meet & Greet books for a bit...

It was a lot of sex. Very 50 shades, older guy with lots of secrets and a kink, younger, sheltered girl. It was a quick read, I thought it was ok, but not great. It's gotten a lot of great reviews, so it could just be me. That's happened to me a lot lately, LOL.

message 312: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments that's what i've heard from lots of people - and also that it was supposedly broken into 2 parts? IDK - I haven't even read her last rough riders series because the last few have been disappoitning

I agree Dee, the last few of her Rough Riders have been disappointing. This one leaves off with a cliffhanger. I really do prefer when a story wraps up in one book!

message 319: by Vi (last edited Aug 21, 2014 08:02PM) (new)

Vi | 2794 comments MountainKat, I finished two of your recs - Texas Glory (Texas Trilogy, #2) by Lorraine Heath & Ain't She Sweet by Susan Elizabeth Phillips . I really loved Ain't she sweet though I had problems with the characters - it all happened in high school. They needed to grow up. I felt like the only person who had a right to hold a grudge was Colin after the way she treated him. But I really enjoyed it - loved the way how SEP had written Sugar Beth.

Thanks for the picks, MK! I have a couple other of your picks on hand but I'm fitting them according to the challenges that I have to do.

message 320: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31599 comments I loved how SEP wrote Sugar Beth too! I think that was one of the best things about that book! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hope you enjoy the others too if you get to them!

message 321: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31599 comments Hi Joyce, I sort of finished another of your picks. I finished Outlander which Runell also picked for me in July. So I started it as her pick and finished it as yours! I liked it, but I especially liked the audio! I thought it wandered a bit much, but it was all interesting. I want to continue with the series, but I think it might take a while to work up the courage to start another audiobook even longer than the first one.

message 326: by Breann (new)

Breann | 398 comments Penney, I had the best on intentions this month :) but I still managed to get a few in.

Conscious Decisions of the Heart was amazing! I loved it and I'm so glad I stumbled upon this series.

Sometimes You Just Know was good but it didn't quite have the emotional punch I was expecting.

I really wanted to like Trouble & the Wallflower more than I did. I have a feeling it was the narrator that I just didn't jive with.

Thanks for the picks!

Hi Suzanne. I finally got a chance to read one of my picks, [bookcover:Concealed in Death|18079757], today and it was great! I have a few others on hold at the library but I'm not sure they'll come in before the end of the month. Thanks for all the great picks though!

So these are my choices for the month:

Come Back to Me by Mila Gray Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Dirty Trick (Perfectly Matched, #1) by Christine Bell Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie Take Me On (Ross Siblings, #4) by Cherrie Lynn Innocence Defied (New York, #3) by Lainey Reese A Little Too Far (A Little Too Far, #1) by Lisa Desrochers The Goose Girl (The Books of Bayern, #1) by Shannon Hale P.S. I Love You by Cecelia Ahern The Taming of the Shrew by William Shakespeare Run To You (Lovett, Texas, #4) by Rachel Gibson The Deed (Deed, #1) by Lynsay Sands

I finished my 4th pick: Take Me On (Ross Siblings, #4) by Cherrie Lynn last night, and while it was good, I felt like I didn't truly connect with the characters for some reason. It was the first time that happened to me in this series. Maybe because I have "known" them as long? I'm not sure.

Anyway, I should be able to get to one more pick before the month is out!

Virgin River (Virgin River, #1) by Robyn Carr I really liked this book. I had read one Virgin River book before but I liked this one more. This was just a nice story with a HEA. 4 stars. I also finished A Belated Bride (Rogues, #2) by Karen Hawkins which I also liked. I may manage to sneak one more in this month but it is back to school tomorrow (sigh).

I finished by fifth and final pick for the month and it's one that you recommended. Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips was a surprise for me. I was sure I liked either one of the main characters in the beginning of the book and it made it hard to get into. BUT, I'm a huge fan of SEP, so I persevered and they really grew on me. I loved the secondary characters as well, especially the kids.

All in all, I had a good time reading it. I really wish we could revisit those characters again. I think that will be a book that I end up reading again. Thanks for the great recommendation!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 1934 comments Hi Shelby

Well, I finished one more Air Bound (Sisters of the Heart, #3) by Christine Feehan - listened to it on audiobook. I didn't like the narration, so I will probably read it as well. But I enjoyed the story.

I'm also starting one more today - Nobody's Baby But Mine (Chicago Stars, #3) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips but I probably won't finish it by the end of today.

Great picks!!

message 346: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments MK, I managed to fit in another book, - The Countess Conspiracy (Brothers Sinister, #3) by Courtney Milan . The best thing about Milan books are the characters who do unusual things. The major drawback for this book was the female lead - she was wound too tight. It was understandable but it did affect my enjoyment a bit. But I'm definitely reading the next. Thanks for the push!!
