Hmm, As Jem said, Jessamine was desperate. So just when she saw a flicker of hope that Nate might actually give her the life she wanted, I can't completely blame her for what she did.

I am starting to get too attached to these characters now. And the love triangle thing is painful to read, but not like in a bad way. Will and Jem's friendship is too sweet, it hurts. (hide spoiler)]

I didn't expect the curse thing to be over so soon and definitely not this way... I thought it would be something bigger. Though it's good that we will get to see Will's true self now.

And Jem proposed to Tessa!! He was sooo sweet about it🥰🥺. Umm, Though from Tessa's reaction, I still think she loves Will more than Jem...

And poor Will, he was just coming up to maybe say the same thing to Tessa. (hide spoiler)]

I am really liking this new enthusiastic energy of Will. The part after Sophie mentioned Demon Pox had me giggling😂.
Though I am already feeling bad for Jem. Tessa shouldn't have agreed to marry him if she's still so drawn to Will...
Only 2 more chapters to go. I wonder how this will end. Surely not seeing any Mortmain in this one.

(view spoiler)[ The plot seems to have gone suddenly from being very action driven to being very character driven and I like it. The curse being fake does make way more sense since nobody else has died.
The love triangle is hard because I like all 3 characters so I don’t want anyone to be hurt but someone will no matter who she chooses. (hide spoiler)]

Just finished. I fell asleep with literally 10 pages left last night.
(view spoiler)[ First off, I don’t think Tessa and Jem’s engagement is gonna last in the next book. She won’t be truly happy.
Cecile coming into it is an interesting twist. I want to see her interaction with Will. Having his sister back will probably be good for him.
I hope we get some big extravagant war between Mortmain and the shadow hunters in the next book. After all the build-up it needs to take up a decent amount of page time and not be solved as easily as the problems in this book.
This book was way better than the last. It took a long time to get into but the last half really improved my opinion of it. (hide spoiler)]

Yeah, this was definitely better than the last one.
I still can't stop thinking about these characters. And not just Will, Jem and Tessa, I liked how even the side characters were more fleshed out in this one.
And you are right about their engagement. It kinda seems more like an agreement between Will and Tessa to not let Jem get hurt.
I wish we also get a bit more of Magnus in the next book. There's a sort of comfort in reading chapters following Magnus, as if nothing can go wrong as long as we are around him.
I did not expect Cecily to show up at the Institute like that. I too hope it works out well for Will. (hide spoiler)]
