Yup, I said I would XD It was my first book of the readathon, and it was an audio. The light went off at 12, leaving me with the dark and my audio XD

It's way better than TMI, but still just too much relationship drama.

Review: Thank gosh I finally got around to reading this one!! Only took a few months, but then what's changed. I really wasn't looking forward to reading it, but read it I did. Did I enjoy it, not exactly, but then again what's new with a Clare book. They just don't grip me as much as they do other people. I much prefer this trilogy than The Mortal Instruments, but only for the time period. The relationship drama in this book drove me insane, and we all know who she's going to end up with in the end, and it only hurts my heart all the more. Team Jem all the way!

Jessamine annoyed me even more in this bloody book, and I really hope for my own sake that (view spoiler)[Gideon actually loves Sophie! (hide spoiler)] I think the audio helped me read it at the speed I did, so I think I'll carry on with the audios for this series.

I’m only 2 chapters in and it seems like this book will be very much the same as the last

I am liking it a bit better than the last one, maybe because it was easier to get into as we already knew the characters.
I don't think I took much notice in the first book, but after I read some reviews mentioning the excessive amount of times everyone's eye color is mentioned/described, I can't help but notice everytime now. 👀
Also, there's still no chemistry between the characters..

The main plot is kinda boring...I really don't care about Mortmain or his army of machines. But that shouldn't be a big issue I guess, as there's actually not much happening on that front.
I loved when they explained the parabatai part to Tessa. I would like to know more about it.

(view spoiler)[ We’re finally getting some depth about Will but all the other characters are still lacking. I usually don’t like long informational bits in books but I’m finding they are the most interesting parts of the story. Probably because I’m interested in the world but not the story.
I like the idea of Will’s curse but Tessa, Henry and Charlotte definitely care about him despite his best efforts so why has nobody died yet? It seems flawed. (hide spoiler)]

I am liking the informational bits too, i just wish that the author had come up with a bit more creative way to put them forth. Usually they are placed before a plot-wise important scene, and it takes away from the thrill. (hide spoiler)]

I liked that we got a glimpse of Jem's own feelings about his disease, and how other people's actions affect him.
The parabatai bits always make me emotional. Will and Jem's bond is so precious, It would be truly tragic if one of them dies.
It's good that Magnus Bane doesn't have any of those strange Marks like most other warlocks. He's perfect with his cat eyes!
I think the major issue with these books is the writing style. It's not my favorite, making it take a while for me to fully connect with each of the characters. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 11
(view spoiler)[ I am also suddenly liking this more. I don’t know why but in the last chapter I found my self actually enjoying the book and smiling at things the characters said. I like Will and Jem more after their conversation in Jem’s room. I also liked the story of why Will and Gabriel don’t get along.
I’m starting to notice the different writing style less but it’s taken over a book and a half to get here which isn’t good. Hopefully the rest of the series will stay as enjoyable. (hide spoiler)]

Tessa's feelings towards Jem and Will both, makes things seem so unfair to Jem. If she chooses Will over him, it will be the same as it has always been, Jem fading against Will's brightness. And not to mention, another cliché.
Okay, I can see Gideon seems alright. But we can never be sure!! Isn't Sophie meeting with him kinda same as what Jessamine did...
I find it sweet when everytime one of them goes out of character, everyone else is like, "Our" (Sophie, Jessamine etc.) did this? Makes it seem like they truly consider each other their family.
Even I am curious to know now what Tessa is actually. Hope we get to that part soon. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ Nate was killed more easily than I expected. I thought that scene would last longer. I’m guessing Will’s gonna be fine. The love triangle wouldn’t end there. I think Jem’s gonna die in the next book and Tessa will get with Will but I hope it isn’t that predictable.
I do feel sorry for Jessamine. She has clearly been manipulated. I like her as well.
I can’t decide if this is gonna be 3 or 4 stars yet. The ending is gonna have to be good to solidify the 4 stars. (hide spoiler)]
