Read-a-Thon #1 - Blue Team Discussion
Jillian wrote: "After seeing what everyone is posting I'm thinking the tag "have" will be the best for this book. (I don't see this tag on anyone else's list).
[book:The Two Towe..."Might put this under sci-fi, depending on what Debra reads- she has one with a "have" shelf

ok finished The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare shelved for United Kingdom on to the next Finding Cinderella
Tracy, that works too and the list looks great. I figure we might have to shuffle stuff around depending what books get finished. I also add my three books to the spreadsheet.
Debra wrote: "ok finished The Man Who Was Thursday: A Nightmare shelved for United Kingdom on to the next Finding Cinderella"
I changed the category to Humor- on the top 100, there is UK, but not United Kingdom. It has to be an exact match.
I am currently reading Turtles All the Way Down and Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, both of which I have more than 125 pages left. After these two, I am not sure which direction I am heading. My shelf names are so completely personal--I use YA instead of Young Adult; Adult Fiction instead of Fiction and such. I have Audiobooks not Audiobook. I do have Mystery, the years, Romance, Fantasy, and Graphic Novel.
Stephanie wrote: "I am currently reading Turtles All the Way Down and Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, both of which I have more than 125 pages ..."we'll figure out what shelves to fit them in. It's not your personal shelf names we're using, its the top 100 shelves for the book.
If you go to the books page, there is a list of top shelves.
I'm kind of jealous of what you're reading right now. Great choices. Hope you're enjoying them :-)
Believe it or not, Dracula doesn't have 'gothic' as one of the Top 100 shelves. 😐 I'm sure it will fit somewhere else though!
finished Finding Cinderella this was a good book and short started it this morning and was a very quick read.
Like Tracy said, Stephanie, we're using the top 100 most popular shelves for a book. these are the top 100 shelves for Turtles All the Way Down, for example. On the right side of the page under genres you should see a link for "top shelves" when you pull up the book you're reading on Goodreads. :D

Thats fine with me
Jody wrote: "Believe it or not, Dracula doesn't have 'gothic' as one of the Top 100 shelves. 😐 I'm sure it will fit somewhere else though!"Could've sworn I saw it in there.... will have to investigate. we could always use non fiction LMAO😂
Just kidding
Debra wrote: "finished Finding Cinderella this was a good book and short started it this morning and was a very quick read."Got it!
Stephanie wrote: "I am currently reading Turtles All the Way Down and Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, both of which I have more than 125 pages ..."All set.
I put them under wishlist and western.

Officially finished Something Rotten. I should be able to finish Twist of Faith tonight as well, and then I'll pick up Jo Nesbo's The Bat which can be shelved as 'Australia'
I just started A Sudden Light by Garth Stein. I am not sure if I will finish it in time but if I do it would work for ghost-story which might be a harder tag to find.
Finished reading Age of SwordsStarting on The Return. It takes place during the spanish civil war, so maybe it can be placed under Spain.
Good morning blue team!!!!I have to go into work today so will be updating our list around 4 pm EST.
Ira and Claire I will check on Spain and TKAM for your books, it depends on what categories we have left, but we can shuffle.
Enjoy TKAM Claire. I loved it :-)
I'm almost done with Born a Crime: Stories From a South African Childhood. Man, it's incredible. It will absolutely be in my Top 10 this year. I think I'll be done tomorrow, as I can't stop listening to it (although I had to as my earbuds were hurting my ears 😩).
I finished
The Two Towers/J.R.R. Tolkien 1/29/18also I don't know how I missed the France tag for
Journey to the Center of the Earth/Jules Verne in case you want to switch the tag for that one.
I'm nearly done with Dark Matter. Couldn't get it all done yesterday, much as I tried, but I'll definitely have it done today. After that I'll read Another Day in the Death of America: A Chronicle of Ten Short Lives for the North-America tag.
Finished We Need to Talk About Kevin not a good book in my opinion very boring. only 2 stars in my opinion if that. started to read Dying to Forget which I should be able to finish today also.
Ok, first time here (and I already feel like I'm behind! ah!).
Please confirm that I did this right. I went to the book that I am currently reading, looked at the Top Bookshelves that this book has been placed on, then matched it with bookshelves we have to read (I used the list Tracy posted a few comments up).
So I'm currently reading Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, which can go under Books-I-own, 2017, or 2018 (edit: Also works for Gothic - thanks, Jillian!)
Yea? Is that the correct process?

Emily- You are doing it right. I also saw that it works for Gothic (that one has to be added back to the open list).

I just went add my book to the spreadsheet, but I'm noticing most people haven't. Are we just updating that one as we finish the book? Or should we be adding books that we are committing to reading? Or should we not be worried about updating it at all?
Monday evening check-in:Esperanza Rising is done.
Getting ready to start The Plot to Kill Hitler.
I started an audiobook of Troublemaker by Leah Remini yesterday and should finish it this week. It may work best for "memoir", but also nonfiction, biography, book club, 2018, and to buy.
Hi all , checking in from the emergency room😩.not sure what time I’m getting out of here but it looks like we have 10 shelves done. Good job!! If I don’t update the list tonight I will definitely get it done tomorrow- looks like I’ll have the day off from work.
So its 12am EST. I just got home. I have been having intractable leg pain that has been worsening and today I temporarily lost feeling in my lower leg and foot and was unable to move my toes which scared the hell out of me. Heading off to bed with some pain meds which are making me feel a little pukey. I'm going to try and get into to work for at least a little while tomorrow and go through the posts to update what everyone has read. As for me, I'm useless when it comes to reading right now. Have 2 started , hopefully I can finish them by the end of the week.
Oh no, Tracy, I'm so sorry to hear that. Hoping you are able to get lots of rest and the pain meds start doing their job (and stop making you sick!).
