A name maybe familiar to the guitar players here, Jim Dunlop, maker of picks, pedals and other goodies for axemen, died on February 6th.Born in Scotland, he later emigrated to Canada where he established his business.
Andrea Levy, the author of ... 'Every Light in the House Burnin', 'Never Far from Nowhere', 'Fruit of the Lemon', 'Small Island', and 'The Long Song' ... died on Valentines Day at the age of 62 after living with Metastatic Breast Cancer for 15 years.
Awww, I loved how daft and happy The Monkees always seemed to be. Everybody that I love, like and grew up with all seem to suddenly be dying these days? - can you all just please stop it now or at least try to live for as long as I do?!! ;o<
That's a function of your age. My parents are in their 80s so most of their generation of relatives have died and their entertainment heroes are 30 years plus pushing up daisies. I'm in my 50s so my childhood and youth heroes who were largely 10 years or more my seniors are now dying like flies.I was at a hard rock gig on Tuesday and remarked to Mrs Neck on one of her rare co-sojourns that when I went to gigs in the 70s the people on stage were either older than or the same age as their audience. With the preponderance of grey hair, bald pates and beer bellies, the audience on Tuesday were about 30 years older than the bands on stage!

The World that I grew up in is feeling more and more of a stranger and a less familiar place for the loss of so many - and, at 50 years of age myself, it feels rather odd to also be several years older now than quite a few of my once older and dearest friends.

Very sad if that's true (and there's no reason to doubt it). RIP.
No? - 'Life's What You Make It' is very high up on the list of my most favourite songs ... RIP Mark Hollis ... x
Oscar-winning Film Composer and Symphony Orchestra Conductor, Andre Previn, has died at the age of 89 ...https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xds7am
How did he ever keep a straight face? His expression at 5:15! An amazing musician who could turn from the classics to jazz to pop at the drop of a hat. And his poor marital behaviour gave us the beautiful songs by Dory Previn.
Lez wrote: "Val, do you know his opera, A Streetcar Named Desire? It’s rather nice."Yes, I saw it here (ten years ago!) with one of my favourite sopranos, Yvonne Kenny playing Blanche. I agree, it was a very good adaptation of the play and the music was lovely.
Katherine Helmond, the seven-time Emmy-nominated Actress, has died as a result of complications from Alzheimer’s disease at her home in Los Angeles. She was 89.
from out of 'soap' and 'everybody would like to kick the keech out of raymond' - very funny in those roles.
Andy Anderson, best known as the Drummer for Iggy Pop and The Cure, died of Cancer on the 26th of February. He was 68.
I saw andy anderson play in a funked up doll by doll line up about a week before they imploded. I think that line up managed about 4 shows. He also played on jeffrey lee pierce's excellent 'wildweed' record.

I really like Kathy Burke's tribute tweet: 'He did what all music stars are meant to do; he frightened your mums and dads. RIP Keith Flint.'
It has just been announced that the Actor, Luke Perry, has died at the age of 52. He had suffered what was said to be a 'massive' Stroke a few days ago.

suzysunshine7 wrote: "He always seem to play the bad boy from the wrong side of Town who had a Heart of Gold."Have you ever written lyrics for Bruce Springsteen suzy?
I'm not all that keen on Bruce Springsteen so if I've used some of his best Lyrics then, rest assured, it is entirely by accident - LOL!!! ;o>

The TV presenter, Magenta Devine, has died at the age of 61.Known for her stylish attire, husky voice and trademark black sunglasses - she died this Morning at a Hospital in London whilst ungoing treatment for a short illness.
Only just released to the Media ... the Actor, Jan-Michael Vincent, who was best-known for his role in the 1980's show 'Airwolf' died on the 10th of February at the age of 74.
The amazingly innovative eclectic pianist/composer, Jacques Loussier has died aged 84. My sister went to see him a couple of years ago and couldn’t believe how youthful and energetic he still was.
'Airwolf' had one of those theme tunes, Val, that once heard was never forgotten. Me and my Baby Brother never missed an episode of 'Airwolf' or 'Knight Rider' ;o> ...https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l8syG...
Doug Sandom, the original drummer with the prototype Who (when they were still The Detours) died on 27th February aged 89.Doug left the band following a falling out with Pete Townshend after the band auditioned for Fontana Records, when the producer had said they should get a new drummer. Pete and Doug didn't speak for about 20 years after this, but eventually made it up and became friends again. The guitarist wrote warmly of Doug in his autobiography 'Who I Am' and later provided a foreword to Doug's own memoirs.
