SOLVED. Middle grade, read maybe 6 years ago. About a group of special needs children kept in an institution called „the bin“. [s]

The children all have disabilities or mutations. One boy who is very week is highly intelligent. One girl has little wings on her back. One boy has very sensitive skin. There used to be a care taker / nurse that was kind to them, but she left. All they know about the world they learn from documentaries about animals on TV. Later in the book they run away and get help from two troubled teenagers. Very touching book.
