Finished part one.
(view spoiler)[I'm definitely intrigued where the investigation surrounding lord winsting will be going. I also found it interesting that we got to see the event from winsting's perspective.
How wayne caught marks really amused me. I didn't like him in alloy of law, but i have to say I'm already warming up to him a bit! (hide spoiler)]

Notes:

Having a small community which stays in the mainstream but runs by its own rules never really ends well politically but I suppose the justification here is quasi-religious so it makes more sense.

Wayne's monthly chore made me feel less sad for Wayne and more sad for the person on the other end this time around. Although I feel sad for Wayne too. What a mess.

I am really liking Marasi's I WILL BEAT YOU ALL WITH ANALYSIS subplot because that's exactly my kind of thing.

Steris is my favorite in the series and part of why I am less enthusiastic about Wayne is his interactions with her. It makes me feel slightly uncomfortable.

The Wayne/Steris thing really bothers me as well. That's really the only issue I have with him. But that really bugs me.

I can't really blame Wayne. (view spoiler)[he knows that Wax isn't actually over Lessie. He doesn't want Wax to cover his feelings and marry some selfish control freak( though I love Steris, she may be misunderstood for her intentions and lets not forget she first showed up with pile of papers that has her conditions and requests for the marriage which she only needs in order to jump in the cast system) (hide spoiler)]

In the middle of chapter 14
(view spoiler)[loved the part with wax and steris entering the venue via allomancy and how steris planned it all out beforehand!
I also liked the introduction of MeLaan and the little scene with all of them building card towers in the tavern.
I have to admit, I'm not overly curious how the detective stuff is going to play out, I'm way more interested in the relationships between all the characters. I especially like wayne and marasi's interactions and how she seems to pick up some speech mannerisms from wayne lol.
And the fact that wayne visits the daughter of the man he killed every month... It's not something you'd expect him to do, given how he usually interacts with people. He's probably still punishing himself for what he's done, or maybe he desperately wants her to forgive him? Either way, I'm curious to see if this will be expanded on later in the book, of if it was just a little character info thingy. (hide spoiler)]

Finished part 2
(view spoiler)[I'm not super into this, so I'm struggling to keep picking it up, but I'm determined to finish it today - only 44 pages left!
There are moments i adore, like the interactions between certain characters, but overall, this isn't completely my cup of tea. I felt much the same with the original trilogy, but the last third of each book made the boring parts so worth it. Let's see if that's true for shadows of self as well 🤔 (hide spoiler)]
