Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Important things to note for the challenge!
- Only Books STARTED after the challenge officially begins can count towards our cards! The challenge starts on Thursday, February 1st at 7PM AEDST. Heres a link to the official countdown so you can decided what that means for you!; https://www.timeanddate.com/countdown...

-Books must be at least 100 pages in length. If its a children's book, graphic novel, etc, I'll need to you verify that it is at least 25,000 words on arbookfind.com

-You must put your finished books on your Uno shelf for the challenge and have it marked as "read" on your account. Make sure that you get your shelf set up and send me a link!

-When you finish a book, say so in the group topic! Make sure to include what card it applies to and why it applies to that card. Always make sure you have it in your Uno shelf and marked as read!!!

-Color cards must have at least 50% of the cover in the designated color to count. You can check the percentage here; https://labs.tineye.com/color/

- Remember that were a team and this challenge is social and for fun! Don't get too caught up in the competition aspect and enjoy! Reading is fun! :)

-Feel free to ask any questions that you may have either here or by sending me a message. I'll be sure to get back to you as soon as I can with an answer!

-Our team spreadsheet is avaliable here; https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

-Use this spreadsheet to post your finished books and the cards that they work for! I will need you to DM me your email so that you can edit it. Please mention any book you finish in the chat regardless!

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Hey Everyone! I'm Kaylee, I'm the captain for this team this year!

I've been doing this challenge for a couple years now, at first on a totally different account! Ha! I'm really looking forward to another year of playing this game. I think its a really fun way to get some reading done!

Make sure that you have your UNO shelf ready to go, and check in here as soon as possible! Introduce yourselves a bit :)

As a quick intro; I'm Kaylee, I live in Pennsylvania. I'm a student! I play trumpet and I have a very fluffy cat. I enjoy reading YA of all sorts!

MyzanM | 156 comments Hi, this is my first UNO too, but I’ve done a lot of similar challenges in other groups so I think it will work out fine.
I’m a mother of 3, wife, teacher, crafter and obsessive reader... and I might be a tad addicted to reading challenges. I live on the west coast of Sweden so it might seem to you that I keep odd hours.

Aww! Well of course if you don't get a lot of reading done its no problem, this is of course for fun! Im glad that youre trying out a reading challenge! Great to meet you! :)

Marte - Thunderella | 38 comments Hi everyone! My name is Marte, I'm 36 and I'm from Norway. Tjänare neighbor MyzanM! :D It's very nice to meet you all!

This is my first UNO challenge, so I'm a little nervous-excited! I think I have a handle on the rules and everything. I read all kinds of genres. What ever strikes my fancy/mood. I've been reading a lot of romance for a while now. My favorite (sub)genres are scifi, murder mysteries, crime, paranormal, erotica, fantasy, dystopian, humor, suspense etc etc. I also listen to a lot of audio books.

Here's to a great UNO read! Go team Carina!

MyzanM | 156 comments Oh my!
You guys are so organized!
I’m mostly a pantser. I plan week for week and switch around a lot so my plan for the week is not the same on Friday as it was on Monday.
I hope my flexibility (hmmm, lack of organization?) and the fact that I’m a fast reader can benefit the team. I normally read an average of 15 - 20 books/month in the range that this challenge allows (100+ pages), so I don’t think my lack of plan will be a problem.

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Its okay Myzan! Im a mood reader so I know exactly how you feel; no planning is fine! Just be sure to let us know when you finish a book!

message 30: by Rachel (last edited Jan 24, 2018 05:52AM) (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments So how do we decide who reads what? Are cards assigned to team members or is it more of a free for all? Sorry if this is a silly question. I have a lot of books I have not read and a pretty good library so I am open to anything, I read 4-5 books a month and choose randomly like Myzan.

message 31: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments We can do whatever you guys would find more useful! From my experience I think its better to let you guys just read and then apply them to the list of books. Towards the end of the month I can start looking for specific cards. Im not sure about the spreadsheet; Im thinking that I can make a google spreadsheet that we can all edit and then I just copy and verify that information for the real one?

I think that sounds good. It keeps it an enjoyable experience. I can volunteer to take the reverse card in our first hand. I would really like to read next and I see that you have read it, Kaylee. Would volunteering for cards be acceptable?

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments My html needs some work lol.

message 34: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments Rachel wrote: "My html needs some work lol."
Why not just use the “add book/author” link above the new post window?
And by the way... that is one of the books that I hope to get to this year too!

I’ve been in similar challenges before where every player got to pick 2 task in the beginning.
Then, every time you started a new book you could go in and claim one of the unclaimed tasks if it fit. That way everyone should get at least one or two task they are comfortable with.
It would also make sure the slower readers don’t get left out.

If we do a separate SS that could be used to claim tasks.
And if we write down alternate tasks that fits in the completion post we could move the books if necessary in the end of the month.
Or is this too complicated in this challenge?

message 35: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Yes of course volunteering for cards is acceptable! Just make sure to include every card that the book works for in your message after you finish a book. :)

Haha i've never noticed that there before! I don't think that is too complicated at all. I will try to post a tbr list like Vanessa did when I get home from work.
