Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Would Matilda be considered a childrens book? It is 4 hours and 28 minutes on audio (and read by Kate Winslet!!!) I don't want to start it if it won't count.

message 352: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments It says here that it has 40009 words so that makes it well over the minimum word count.
It also says Young Adult on the book's main page here on goodreads.

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Wow, I would have never considered it a young adult book. Can't wait to start listening tomorrow.

Well, the genre on the main page on Goodreads depends on how we shelve our books. It would actually show up as horror if enough people shelved it as such.

That's one of my all time favorite books! I bet the audio is fantastic.

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Officially shelving Matilda as a horror novel. I adore that book!

MyzanM | 156 comments Today could have been better. Spent the day in the ER with my son. Not eating or sleeping properly is a bad idea especially when out partying and mixing alcohol and Red Bull. Now he has a bleeding ulcer and a mild heart condition. He was really lucky.

On the bright side; I've finally updated this week's books in the SS.

Tomorrow is a new week and I'm crossing my fingers it will be better.

message 372: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Oh Myzan, that must have been very scary and stressful. I'm sorry to hear about your son and hope he gets better.

message 373: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Hope he is doing better, Myzan.

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Hope your son is feeling better Myzan!!

message 375: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments My son's doing better. He's going to have to learn to live with his new conditions. He'll have to watch what he eats and make sure not to skip meals because of the ulcer and he will have to give up alcohol for the foreseeable future both because of the ulcer and because the damage done to his heart. He was really lucky we got him to the ER in time or the damage would have been far worse. As it is now his heart might mostly recover in time. I'm so grateful he wasn't afraid to have his friend give us a call. I'd rather be woken by that call at 4.30 AM than having the police on our doorstep a few hours later.
We're home and I'm having a couple of days off to mother him.

message 376: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Im glad hes doing better and you guys were able to help him before it was two late. Enjoy your days off spending time with him, I hope he gets to feeling much better soon :)

message 377: by Rachel (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Hey everyone! I have a snow day today! Hoping to get a lot of reading done today haha. How is everybody’s week going? Again, glad your son is doing better Myzan.

message 379: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Oh how I miss snow days. I work in healthcare so those no longer exist for me. I am however hoping today is slow so I can get some reading done.

message 380: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments The roads are horrid here so everybody in my house is staying home. Even my dad’s bank is closed today! Crazy.

message 381: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments It just started snowing here in NY. Should be a lovely commute home. lol At least i've got Neil Gaiman on audio.

message 382: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments haha, drive safe!! Have a good day :)

message 383: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Hey guys, went ahead and updated the spreadsheet. Looks like we still have a lot of reading to do; about 40 books. Super proud of all of us for the books that we've been reading this month though!

Also, don't mind all the red highlighting on the Spreadsheet. I highlighted them like that to designate all the CRs, haha. Just de-red it when you finish the books. Happy Reading! :)))0

message 384: by Shamber (new)

Shamber | 151 comments Hi team! I just finished my CR: The Thief (The Queen's Thief, #1) by Megan Whalen Turner . Moving on to its sequel: The Queen of Attolia (The Queen's Thief, #2) by Megan Whalen Turner .

message 385: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Does anybody have any yellow books on their TBR that they can pick up before the end of the month?

Marte - Thunderella | 38 comments I found this series with two yellows and one green. There's actually three more books to the series, whereas #6 is also yellow.

#1
King Perry (The Lost and Founds, #1) by Edmond Manning King Perry

#2
King Mai (The Lost and Founds, #2) by Edmond Manning
King Mai

#3
The Butterfly King (The Lost and Founds, #3) by Edmond Manning
The Butterfly King

#6 King Daniel (The Lost and Founds #6) by Edmond Manning
King Daniel

I've had them on my tbr for a while now, but I'm in the middle of two books right now.

Maybe someone else wants to have a go?

I don't know much about them really, other than a friend rec'd them to me at one point, and I remembered the vivid colors on the cover. Thought they'd work for our challenge.

message 387: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I will take a look when I get home from work.

message 388: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I do have Olive Kitteridge. Is that a quick read? Would it work for the necessary cards?

message 389: by JanEyre9 (last edited Mar 22, 2018 11:34AM) (new)

JanEyre9 I'm going to read A Red Herring Without Mustard (Flavia de Luce, #3) by Alan Bradley , that could apply to yellow 4 (Flavia character) or yellow 5 (Inspector Hewitt character)

Would Inspector Hewitt be accepted as an "I" name?

message 390: by Rachel (new)

I don't think so. It has to be first name or surname.

message 391: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Im with Rachel on that.

message 392: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Yeah that makes sense. yellow 5 is hard to meet!

message 393: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Instead of A Red Herring Without Mustard I am going to read The Little Old Lady Who Broke All the Rules A Novel (League of Pensioners) by Catharina Ingelman-Sundberg , the author's last name starts with an I and it is 67.4% yellow so it'll meet yellow 5

message 394: by Shamber (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments I found a yellow book on overdrive that I'm gonna figure out how to apply one way or another, haha. only a week left in the challenge for this month!

Also, make sure you guys are updating the bonus challenge page. :)

message 397: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Jan, I moved one of your books in the Mini-Challenge for one of Carolyn's books :)

message 398: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Only 25 books left on the sheet guys! Final Stretch!!

message 399: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments I’m sorry I haven’t been active these past weeks. First work kickin’ my butt and now all my sons appointments. I have been reading, but I haven’t had the energy to update here.
I’ll try to at least fit my read books into the Bonus during the day and I’ll try to update the UNO part over the next few days.

message 400: by Kaylee (new)
