Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I remember reading somewhere that it had to be a certain number of hours. I just don't know where I read that.

message 302: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I found where it is listed, and generally over 3 hours is acceptable so I am set. Hooray!

message 303: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 I found this is the Questions? thread

Are audiobooks allowed
Audiobooks are okay to use. You'll use the information from the default edition

I don't see anything about hours but I could be missing it

message 304: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 oh good to know! I do a lot of audio books. Where did you find the info?

message 305: by Rachel (last edited Mar 02, 2018 06:53AM) (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments It was in the captain's chat for a book that was on the borderline page wise. They approximate that 100 pages equals 3 hours.

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Hey team! How has everybody been this weekend? :)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Hi Kaylee!

Hope you are having a good sunday!

message 308: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Having a great weekend, perfect mix of plans and down time (aka reading! )

message 309: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments Had a hectic week at work so I tried to get some down time this weekend.
No such luck, surprise date with hubby, therapy shopping with my girls (which ended with me buying stuff for them, not myself) and lastly surprise guest showing up for “Fika”.
Now I’m stuck with a couple of hours of work before bed.
I don’t mind my weekend not turning out the way I planed.

Surprise date with hubby and time with your girls sounds really nice!

JanEyre9 Spreadsheet question - I've been updated the general spreadsheet where we list each book we read and what categories apply. Are we also filling out our other team spreadsheet, with the specific cards needed, at this time or do we wait a little before we start that? Thanks!

Kaylee fills out the official team SS. She waits a bit to do that. She then tells us if we need to find more of specific cards

message 313: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Thanks Myzan!

Sounds like an amazing weekend. :)

message 315: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments Sounds like an awesome Myzan!

Yeah, I fill out the spreadsheet weekly-ish. Getting on and doing that daily is just silly :)

message 316: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Thanks to JanEyre I saw that Ernest Cline is writing a sequel to Ready Player One!! I'm not sure how I feel about a sequel. I know I really loved the book, but it was so good on its own... How do you guys feel about this?

message 317: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 I feel conflicted! Part of me is very excited. Ready Player One is awesome and it would be fantastic if the sequel had similar exciting and endearing qualities without just being more of the same. But I am skeptical. Ready Player One is SO unique and well done and while there is plenty of story left to be told after the conclusion it felt, to me, like it ended on the right note. I'm not sure if he would have the same characters or a whole new cast. I know I will read it and am hopeful that Cline can capture the same magic he created with the first book, I'm just not sure a sequel is necessary.

message 318: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I don't think it is necessary either. I also did not love Armada.

message 319: by Shamber (new)

Shamber | 151 comments I'm cruising through The Silver Chair (Chronicles of Narnia, #6) by C.S. Lewis . However, I am not liking this one as much as the other Narnia books, sadly.

It's been kind of a struggle to work through Snape A Definitive Reading by Lorrie Kim & The Bear and the Nightingale (Winternight Trilogy, #1) by Katherine Arden - both are coming along slowly. I will finish though!

Happy reading fellow book lovers! :)

message 320: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments I have finished some books and will try to update the SS later to night if I can find the time.
Cinder (The Lunar Chronicles, #1) by Marissa Meyer is one of the books I've read this week, which I'm sure a lot of you have read previously so keep an eye out and fill in your name for reverse when I do get to update!

This has been on my tbr forever.

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I think I am going to try to read a wrinkle in time this weekend. Having never read it, I am desperately trying to avoid spoilers. I honestly don't even know anything about the subject matter of the book. ::shame:: Do you guys have excellent plans for the weekend? I am grateful to not be working for once.

I’m always weary of books that are hyped up, like The Girl on the Train, which I hated. This one, I actually liked. I didn’t love it, but I certainly didn’t hate it. I thought it lacked a bit in world building and I didn’t find the characters that engaging. But I did enjoy it.

We’re having a family night tonight. We usually have that every Friday night. It’s a time for the whole family to do something together, some times watching a movie, but more often playing games or doing a jigsaw. Tonight we’re doing a jigsaw with 1000 pieces. It’s my youngest daughter’s choice.
Sunday we have family over for fika. My youngest had her birthday a month ago when we all had the flu so we’re finally having her birthday celebration with the family. Her friends have to wait another couple of weeks.

MyzanM | 156 comments The weekend got a bit more hectic than anticipated, but I've finally been able to sit down and update the spreadsheet.

Has anyone read Turtles All the Way Down? If you have please fill in the reverse column for me. I read the Swedish edition so you might not notice it.

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Oh nevermind its all the missing letters. I just looked at the official spreadsheet. We have a lot of reading to do. I'm working on the spreadsheet now.

message 339: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Ok spreadsheet is updated. Please double check my work! I have a few Neil Gaiman's I can probably knock out quickly. I hope I can contribute much more to this challenge than the last one.

message 340: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 It's helpful that we can use the names of items on book covers. I need to plan some reading.

Rachel - what Gaiman do you think you'll be reading?

message 341: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Do you think the 4 in Connect 4 can be the 4th in a series or the title has to have a 4/four?

message 342: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments "Digit must be found in title of book (can be as a word or a digit) e.g. "Seven Up" or "The 7 Habits" would both work for the digit of 7"

That's from the spreadsheet.

And someone just gave me a few I think Stardust and Neverwhere are in there. I have I am number four. I could read that if we cannot come up with anything else.

message 343: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Thanks Rachel, wishful thinking! Those are great books, I hope you enjoy them.

message 344: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments Oh, dear...
That looks challenging!

How about we color code the SS so if we claim a letter it turns one color and when we add the finish date it turns green? Might make it easier to see what's needed?
I could do the format later if you want that.

message 345: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments Sounds good to me.

message 346: by Kaylee (new)

Kaylee Wilson | 621 comments I can reread Four by Veronica Roth if you don't get to I am Number Four Rachel, for that slot. As far as the rest go, it does look pretty challenging but Im pretty excited for the challenge! Haha

Im trying to get in contact with our MIA team members again. If nobody has anything shelved for this month then I'll have to get back to UNO Fairy on those.

message 347: by MyzanM (last edited Mar 12, 2018 11:10PM) (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments I've fiddled with the SS for the Mini.
When you put your name for a letter the row will turn orange. When you fill in the date read the row will turn greenish. So don't put CR in the date column for a book you've started, because it will show up green as if it's finished.

For claiming a letter: fill in your name = orange
For completed letter: Fill in the date = greenish

If you don't like the change let me know and I'll remove the formatting.

message 348: by MyzanM (new)

MyzanM | 156 comments I have I Am Number Four on my TBR of the year so I could bump it up. That way no one have to do a reread if they don't have to.

message 349: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (stillchasethewind) | 452 comments I've never read I am number four. I'm assuming its simple enough to read with a screaming one year old in the background (I hope). I can start with that if you guys want?
