Nicole Hello! I'm new and hope this is the right place to post. If not, do pardon me.

I'm a fan of the classics from back in the day. My favorite series would be "The entire Sherlock Holmes collection" by A. Conan Doyle. Many others would include "Great Expectations", "Moby Dick", "The Time Machine", "Oliver Twist", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "The Adventures of Robinson Crusoe", "Huckleberry Finn" ..etc..

I seeking new books from present authors that write "classic" fiction. Books that are able to capture the same amazing style, the astute originality, the enigmatic plot-lines and fantastic immersion.

I'm grateful to any that could help!

P.S. The books recommended can be sold anywhere, but must be available in E-formats and the retailer has to offer mainstream online payment methods.

Shanna I would recommend The Light Between Oceans. Beautifully written, captivating story line, heart-wrenching characters.

Cheryl (cherylllr) Do you mean something like Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell? Or His Dark Materials?

NancyJ (nancyjjj) You listed some great literature, and each author had his or her own unique style. I can't identify a classic style per se, but there are some books (or authors) that might be considered to be more literary than others. The writing is better, and the stories are more original and complex (as opposed to following a popular formula, as with James Patterson)

I think most of this group's BOTM selections would be considered literature rather than just popular fiction. You can also browse through GoodReads SHELVES marked literature, modern literature, or modern classics. Also google Pulitzer Prize winning books for more possibilities.

I would consider books by these authors:

Khaled Hosseini
Barbara Kingsolver
Amor Towles
Eugenides
Margarent Atwood
Amor Towles
Donna Tartt
Chris Bohjalian
Toni Morrison
Jonathan Franzen
Jhumpa Lahira
