Rachel | 1527 comments A series of books by a British author which I read in the early 1990s. The series was about a group of female friends aged around 11-13 and each book was about a different girl. There was quite a lot of focus on boyfriends and love interests, but also other things that happened to the girls. I seem to remember a scene where they were in a tube station (London Underground) so may have been set in or near London.

One book featured a girl called Jemma and a boy she was friends with called Tony. He was mixed race and described his skin tone jokingly as being the same colour as the gravy in their school lunches.

One of the girls also took part in a protest about cosmetics being tested on animals and made a placard that said, "Do you want beauty with no thought for the beasts?"

I remember the book covers having colourful illustrations with pictures of the girls. Any help appreciated.
