I have no doubts Monique my friend I have seen how fast you can read, and there is no way I could keep up with you I could be 3/4 of the way through the book when you start and you would still finish before me. I wish I could read that fast, LOL.

I'm lucky if I can do 30 pages an hour, that's on a book I have already read. you must be topping 100 pages an hour
30 seconds a page, I feel like a first grader trying to out read a collage senior. Ms. Monique I take my hat off to you, and respect where respect is due and you are due all the respect.
I am so happy to see that the group will be reading The Stand in April. My favorite Stephen King book. Really looking forward to the discussion!
I love The Stand and it has to be my favorite King book! Also I saw an older post about buying used books and my favorite website to use is thrift books.com!
I found a copy of The Bachman Books on Amazon for $5, and it included Rage. So, I know if you keep looking, you can find it. It just takes some time. You might just have to plan to read it another month.
I finished The Cruellest Month by Louise Penny and Started Every Breath You Take by Mary Higgins Clark.
This thread is about the Group Read. I think you meant to post in the What Are You Reading Now (Non-King) thread which is here:https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

You're right, thanks
I see that Linda got it in wrong thread as well. or am I wrong? lol
I've read The Stand like 4 times already. Love the book, my fav out of all Kings books
Group reads are done as King book, a book recommended by King and group's recommendation. So unless the month is for a King read, there might be two books . The Deep and as per chronological order of re-reads - Night Shift. That is if I remember it correctly.
I thought Night Shift might be next when looking at his site. It was the King selection I wanted to know. I hadn’t noticed a May book on the front page. ☺️

On the group’s front page, May’s book is listed as The Deep."
For some reason one of the books isn't showing on the top of the front page. If you scroll down to the bottom of the front page you can see both books.

That’s odd it’s not showing up at the top. I’m glad it’s The Long Walk. It’s probably shorter than Night Shift. My May reading list is growing. LOL
Are we skipping over Night Shift? Just wondering as it was released in February 78, before The Stand, while The Long Walk which looks to be up next was released in 79.
King’s website says The Stand and Night shift were both first published in 1978 and The Long Walk and The Dead Zone were both in 1979. His site doesn’t give a month though but I would go in the order his site puts them. Which is:The Stand
Night Shift
The Long Walk
The Dead Zone
Then Firestater came out as a limited edition in 1979 after The Dead Zone then The Mist then Firestarter rereleased in 1980. So how do you handle if it was first a limited editions? Go by first date regardless?
Decisions, decisions...

For some reason it looked to me like The Long Walk was next for May.
Oh, that’s right. The Mist is part of Skeleton Crew. Ah, going back to King’s website, it appeared in an anthology first. So that’s why it is listed separate. Just like the short stories in Night Shift were all published somewhere else first and most them show up as published in 1977.
I saw that The Long Walk was next too, but if Night Shift was released first, are we reading it? I'd like to read the collections too. There are a few that I haven't read yet.

It is next... thank you! I'll get the book changed. Also.. for those wondering, June will be Outsider. We are squeezing in the brand new books when they come out and then the following month we'll get back to reading the books in order.
So, it's? :May- Night Shift
June- Outsider
July- The Long Walk
I just want to make sure I have it right.

Yes it is!!

I just love all the books this group chooses to read. You've definitely won my heart over with your choices!
I will do the Long walk and maybe the Outsider will have to see on that one. I have been falling behind on all my other books so I have to cut back some where. Fear not I will take part in any discussion on all the books I have read them multiple times in excess of 5 times each LOL.
Yes it does, I am always picking up new things either things I have missed or have read in a different light It's not unusual for me to find a line that I missed not that I read to fast but it is more often that I am starting and stopping all the time.
I obsessively reread, not only to pick up little details I may have missed before, or simply forgotten, but also because every time I read, I am a bit different than I was last time. Things will make me cry or angry, that wouldn't have affected me that way in the past.As an example, read Pet Sematary in your late teens, then reread after your first or second child. It will NOT affect you the same.

So far I'm loving it. I started yesterday and already half way done. I'll finish this by tonight. By the way I'm listening to the audiobook and it is great.
J.J. wrote: "I just started reading Illuminae

Which I, ummm, found confusing as heck to follow, I'm afraid. DNF'd it, but only because (a) it was a library book and (b) well, I had already gone through it.
I buddy read both
and
as print books. We both really enjoyed them and loved the multimedia/epistolary format- the blood stains in the second book are particularly intriguing. I have heard that the audiobooks are amazing but they are not available in Ireland so they were not an option for me and my Buddy (who is US based) wanted books she could borrow from the Library.
