mrbooks | 1469 comments I have no doubts Monique my friend I have seen how fast you can read, and there is no way I could keep up with you I could be 3/4 of the way through the book when you start and you would still finish before me. I wish I could read that fast, LOL.

message 52: by Monique (new)

Monique Chambers | 93 comments Mrbook I wish I could find someone that can read as fast I can but no luck lol

message 53: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments I'm lucky if I can do 30 pages an hour, that's on a book I have already read. you must be topping 100 pages an hour

message 54: by Monique (new)

Monique Chambers | 93 comments Mrbook I read 120 per hour

message 55: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments 30 seconds a page, I feel like a first grader trying to out read a collage senior. Ms. Monique I take my hat off to you, and respect where respect is due and you are due all the respect.

Doreen Petersen | 252 comments I am so happy to see that the group will be reading The Stand in April. My favorite Stephen King book. Really looking forward to the discussion!

message 58: by Falyn (new)

Falyn | 2 comments I love The Stand and it has to be my favorite King book! Also I saw an older post about buying used books and my favorite website to use is thrift books.com!

message 59: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 163 comments I found a copy of The Bachman Books on Amazon for $5, and it included Rage. So, I know if you keep looking, you can find it. It just takes some time. You might just have to plan to read it another month.

message 60: by Monique (new)

Monique Chambers | 93 comments I find mine on ThriftStore.com for my Bachman 😁

You're right, thanks
I see that Linda got it in wrong thread as well. or am I wrong? lol
I've read The Stand like 4 times already. Love the book, my fav out of all Kings books

message 65: by Linda (new)

Linda (beaulieulinda117gmailcom) | 1115 comments Yeah I read it wrong. Of course I realized my mistake right after I left the thread.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments The Stand is one of my favorites as well.

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments What will May’s book be?

message 68: by Summer (new)

Summer (paradisecity) | 360 comments Nancy wrote: "What will May’s book be?"

On the group’s front page, May’s book is listed as The Deep.

message 69: by Aditya (new)

Aditya Group reads are done as King book, a book recommended by King and group's recommendation. So unless the month is for a King read, there might be two books . The Deep and as per chronological order of re-reads - Night Shift. That is if I remember it correctly.

message 70: by Nancy (last edited Apr 09, 2018 04:38PM) (new)

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments I thought Night Shift might be next when looking at his site. It was the King selection I wanted to know.

I hadn’t noticed a May book on the front page. ☺️

For some reason one of the books isn't showing on the top of the front page. If you scroll down to the bottom of the front page you can see both books.

message 72: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments That’s odd it’s not showing up at the top. I’m glad it’s The Long Walk. It’s probably shorter than Night Shift. My May reading list is growing. LOL

message 73: by Matt (new)

Matt | 193 comments Are we skipping over Night Shift? Just wondering as it was released in February 78, before The Stand, while The Long Walk which looks to be up next was released in 79.

message 74: by Nancy (new)

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments King’s website says The Stand and Night shift were both first published in 1978 and The Long Walk and The Dead Zone were both in 1979. His site doesn’t give a month though but I would go in the order his site puts them. Which is:

The Stand
Night Shift
The Long Walk
The Dead Zone

Then Firestater came out as a limited edition in 1979 after The Dead Zone then The Mist then Firestarter rereleased in 1980. So how do you handle if it was first a limited editions? Go by first date regardless?

Decisions, decisions...

Are we doing The Mist separately or as part of Skeleton Crew? That order makes sense that you posted. For some reason it looked to me like The Long Walk was next for May.

message 76: by Nancy (last edited Apr 14, 2018 03:59PM) (new)

Nancy (paper_addict) | 942 comments Oh, that’s right. The Mist is part of Skeleton Crew. Ah, going back to King’s website, it appeared in an anthology first. So that’s why it is listed separate. Just like the short stories in Night Shift were all published somewhere else first and most them show up as published in 1977.

message 77: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments I'm easy I will go with what ever you decide.

message 78: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 163 comments I saw that The Long Walk was next too, but if Night Shift was released first, are we reading it? I'd like to read the collections too. There are a few that I haven't read yet.

It is next... thank you! I'll get the book changed. Also.. for those wondering, June will be Outsider. We are squeezing in the brand new books when they come out and then the following month we'll get back to reading the books in order.

message 82: by Tracy (new)

Tracy | 163 comments So, it's? :

May- Night Shift
June- Outsider
July- The Long Walk

I just want to make sure I have it right.

Yes it is!!

message 84: by Doreen (new)

Doreen Petersen | 252 comments I just love all the books this group chooses to read. You've definitely won my heart over with your choices!

message 85: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments I will do the Long walk and maybe the Outsider will have to see on that one. I have been falling behind on all my other books so I have to cut back some where. Fear not I will take part in any discussion on all the books I have read them multiple times in excess of 5 times each LOL.

message 86: by mrbooks (new)

mrbooks | 1469 comments Yes it does, I am always picking up new things either things I have missed or have read in a different light It's not unusual for me to find a line that I missed not that I read to fast but it is more often that I am starting and stopping all the time.

message 87: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 4387 comments I obsessively reread, not only to pick up little details I may have missed before, or simply forgotten, but also because every time I read, I am a bit different than I was last time. Things will make me cry or angry, that wouldn't have affected me that way in the past.

As an example, read Pet Sematary in your late teens, then reread after your first or second child. It will NOT affect you the same.

message 90: by J.J. (new)

J.J. | 55 comments So far I'm loving it. I started yesterday and already half way done. I'll finish this by tonight. By the way I'm listening to the audiobook and it is great.

I was extremely impressed by this series as an audiobook, to the point I actually circled back and took a crack at the print book.

Which I, ummm, found confusing as heck to follow, I'm afraid. DNF'd it, but only because (a) it was a library book and (b) well, I had already gone through it.

message 92: by Maria Hill (new)

Maria Hill AKA MH Books (mariahilldublin) | 61 comments I buddy read both Illuminae (The Illuminae Files, #1) by Amie Kaufman and Gemina (The Illuminae Files, #2) by Amie Kaufman as print books. We both really enjoyed them and loved the multimedia/epistolary format- the blood stains in the second book are particularly intriguing. I have heard that the audiobooks are amazing but they are not available in Ireland so they were not an option for me and my Buddy (who is US based) wanted books she could borrow from the Library.

That is a really fun series. Don’t forget to read Obsidio. It ties up the series end really well and is just a fun.
