What Is the Name of This Book? question

Hello! I am looking for a book. It was made before January 2015. The book cover was what and green. There were two sex scenes. One in a car and one in their office. One of the scenes involved roughness but not super rough. One of the characters was an investigator who got fired but still stayed on the case. They were in their 30s? Or so?? It was also a crime fiction book. The main male character was a smoker. There were no magical elements to it whatsoever. I’m sorry I can’t give much more information. I’m posting this for my friend.
