Team Gone with the books
Oh, I thought we either read the assigned book we all did the detour.I can't this time around - I don't do electronic books. But I planned on asking if people wanted to read ghost books next time anyhow. :P

I thought we needed a minimum of 4 team members in order for it to qualify?

The bok you read does not have to be an electronic book. It need to have a "ebook" tag on the first page.

Yes, but if you're reading a book for another challenge or fun, we may be able to count it.
Unfortunately the book I ordered for our Spain read had to be sent back because it was damaged. :( That means I'm now back to square one. I will try to find a replacement in the next few days but if not, I guess I have to skip this one..........
I will read The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. Based in one of my favorite cities, Barcelona. :)
OK, I can't figure out how to look at the shelves of books. I just finished this - is this shelved on the front page as an ebook? The Secret Loves of Geek Girls
addendum - Scratch that! As soon as I posted, I went to the book page again, and suddenly - I see how to see shelves. Got it. So, ebook shelf is a front page thing - and I would like it to count towards a detour.
I'll be done with mine today and I have no idea. I think we need some clarifications on the rules for this
Tahmina wrote: "I'll be done with mine today and I have no idea. I think we need some clarifications on the rules for this"When, did you finish?
Did you want to add it to the spreadsheet?

If not, I can :)
I will, hopefully, be done this weekend. I'm struggling somewhat with it. The style of writing is something I'm not use to.
I've gone ahead and ordered Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo as my Greek book. Wait - are we doing country or spell it out next?
Finally done! I struggled with this one...By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept by Paulo Coelho (03/02)
Guess so. I will finish my book on the weekend and then I will add it to the spreadsheet :) Country is fine for me. Anyone any recommendations?
I just ordered
. It's set in Greece and it also counts for my challenge of March Mystery Madness. Muhahahahaha

Did you like it. I read the Alchemist a while back and did not like it at all :(

I preferred The Alchemist. This was difficult because of the style of writing and I guess language barrier, even though it's in English. I felt confused and got lost in Coelho's message about the feminine side of God. I did like the journey of self discovery.

My sisters really like the alchemist but I felt it was too self help book + positive thinking makes everything turn out well. I wanted to give another book of his a try to see whether I just don't like the one book or him as an author.

Message about self discovery, the importance of love etc. I would recommend Eleven Minutes. That one packed a punch and was different.
are we officially done with Brazil and moving to Greece? Or do we have someone who has not completed this stage?
Officially done! Will add my book to the spreadsheet later since I do not have access to a computer now. :)

Hey Guys!!So I thought it would a little fun to see some pictures of the destinations we are going to. If you guys don't mind whenever we start a new destination I will start posting pics and information for that area. Let me know if someone else wants to do it or wants me to modify something.
Patrai (GR):
Patras (Greek: Πάτρα Greek: [ˈpatra], Classical Greek and Katharevousa: Πάτραι (pl.), Greek pronunciation: [pátrai̯], Latin: Patrae (pl.)) is Greece's third-largest city and the regional capital of Western Greece, in the northern Peloponnese, 215 km (134 mi) west of Athens. The city is built at the foothills of Mount Panachaikon, overlooking the Gulf of Patras.
Patras has a population of 213,984 (in 2011).[1] The core settlement has a history spanning four millennia; in the Roman period it had become a cosmopolitan center of the eastern Mediterranean whilst, according to Christian tradition, it was also the place of Saint Andrew's martyrdom. According to the results of 2011 census, the metropolitan area has a population of 260,308 and extends over an area of 738.87 km2 (285.28 sq mi).
Dubbed as Greece's Gate to the West, Patras is a commercial hub, while its busy port is a nodal point for trade and communication with Italy and the rest of Western Europe. The city has two public universities and one Technological Institute, hosting a large student population and rendering Patras an important scientific centre[citation needed] with a field of excellence in technological education. The Rio-Antirio bridge connects Patras' easternmost suburb of Rio to the town of Antirrio, connecting the Peloponnese peninsula with mainland Greece.
Every year, in February, the city hosts one of Europe's largest carnivals: notable features of the Patras Carnival include its mammoth satirical floats and balls and parades, enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of visitors in a Mediterranean climate. Patras is also famous for supporting an indigenous cultural scene active mainly in the performing arts and modern urban literature. It was European Capital of Culture in 2006.

We just started our new stop so great timing! We are reading books based in Greece or by Greek authors. If you click on the link at the end of the message you will see a spreadsheet that Sunshine created for us with all our members, stop, books read, and point calculations. I've inserted your name under "4. Bilbao (ES) - Patrai (GR)" so once you complete the book please write down what book you read for the challenge and the date completed.
Let me know if you need any clarification or have any questions!

Not really it took us three weeks to finish the last stop. I think our average is about two weeks though. No pressure. We tend to be laid back.

I like that. Thanks
I changed my choice and will now read Apartment in Athens, since it says in several lists that this is a "must read" and I found it in my university's library. :)
@Tahmina - I *did* end up liking the Sun Also Rises, even spending most of the book despising all the characters and hating it! I dunno, it was the last portion, as Jake cleans up after Brett again. "Isn't it pretty to think so?"
