@Jenny we don't go hand by hand, but you can see in our cards overview (just on the right in our february sheet) which cards we still need. We only have one card 5 covered so far, so those would be good.

It will work for F as one of the characters is named Federico. However not sure if it will work for Blue. I have been flipping back and forth between the audiobook copy and a physical copy I have here and so I switched editions to reflect the physical copy. It's cover image, though it looks more blue than green, is coming up in tineye as being mostly green (looking at the colours in brackets, but having "blue" in the colour name), then grey with very little actual blue.
This one:
However if we go with just the audiobook, the rules state we then would use goodreads' default edition which in this case would be this one (with even less blue):
Which edition do you think I should be using?

I feel so slow! I'm hoping to have at least one or two books finished by Monday. I'm the type that always reads at least 2-3 at the same time bouncing between them so I will hopefully finish up those I'm a good chunk into in the next couple days. I know they all fit some categories, is there any cards in particular I should be looking out for something in my book that they fit? Or maybe should try to find a book after I finish the three I'm in?
don't stress yourself! everyone is reading in their own pase, and it should be enjoyable to you. we still got a bit to go until februart ends :) concerning cards: 5s and 7s are the ones I'm concerned about atm. but it might have changed once you finished your books :) just keep an eye on our spreadsheet and you'll see what we need

Tineye does say it's more orange than red. And to me it also just seems more orange
Yeah, the Chalk Man cover is a very orangy-red. Thanks for checking for me. I am learning that the tineye has a very narrow definition of its colors, primary colors without nuance seem to be how that program is written. On to the next one...
now that I have it open on my phone it looks more red again... you know what, I'll check with the captains just in case :) this is making me crazy haha

Aww yes the movie was awesome! Shed a few tears myself. Also watched a bit extra as my theatre had sound issues so we watched at least half an hour of the movie with no sound and then they restarted it when the sound got fixed, only to cut out one more time when it was then paused, fixed, and continued on. Annoying but the movie was worth it.

I too am a slower reader that like to have a few on the go. If we all keep at it, at whatever pace we can manager, we'll get there in the end! :)

Daniela,I'm glad that the Chalk Man book counts as a color. Thanks for checking that.
I'm so annoyed at this last book, Extracted, that I was listening to. It took me too long, as I kept getting bored with the exposition and repetitive nature of the character building. I am annoyed, because the characters, ultimately, are really cool, and the story has a lot of promise, and now I need to read the next one to find out what happens, and I don't want to reward the author for his bad writing choices. Oh well. I have been sucked into series before, and it will happen again, I am sure.

assuming they're both the same person, is Spooky Violet or Violet Parker more common throughout the book?
same sort of goes for the setting in Defiant Queen by Meghan March. I'm not even sure if we can use it if there are two different settings - this is one of the hardest things in this challenge imo...
good job on all the reading you got done in just a couple of days! :)
Am I reading the spreadsheet right? Have we covered all of the color cards for February already? If so, can additional ones we read this month carry over to March if they are not used for another card? Or, should we wait to read books that might work for a future color card? I know one of you will say "read what you want", but I want to read all of the books that I have bought already, and the order doesn't really matter to me. So, if the timing matters to the challenge, then I will read books in a non-random order. Also, I have not looked at any other teams results for comparison,(not sure if I even can), but this team rocks. Just saying.
@Jenny there is one Wild Card 4 left, but that's our last coloured card :) and I think Kirsten is reading a book for it atm?
Great reading, Dima!Jenny - I'm saving all my colored card books for the next month in case we can use them there, but that's just me.
I took a few days off from reading, sorry team. Work was super busy and I've not been feeling that great.

Don't worry about that :) personal life can always get in the way of reading. We want you to enjoy the challenge, not feeling pressured :)

A while ago, we asked you to head to THIS THREAD to post three (3) favourite books/series, up to a maximum of five (5) for those of us who have a hard time deciding ;-), you would recommend to others.
As some of you have already guessed, this will in some way be incorporated into an upcoming optional mini challenge. (Nope, our lips are sealed still, we are not going to tell you what it is :-p)
However, a surprisingly large number of players have not posted any recommendations yet. Unfortunately, that might make things difficult for your fellow players as well as yourselves.
Please, please, post 3-5 recommendations in the above mentioned thread. If you don't, we may be forced to take unwanted action as a result.
In last year’s mini challenge, weren’t teams matched up as Valentines? You had read books your Valentine recommended? That’s how I came to read The Girl You Lost, and it was really good. I almost don’t want to start another book this close to the middle of the month because it won’t count toward the mini challenge.
Christina wrote: "^ except for Kirsten and Dima all of us have already given recommendations - awesome job, team!"Oops didn't realize it was going to be mandatory. Going over to the thread now to leave my recommendations.
Laura wrote: "In last year’s mini challenge, weren’t teams matched up as Valentines? You had read books your Valentine recommended? That’s how I came to read The Girl You Lost, and it was really good. I almost..."
oh right, I think we had to read books that our Valentine had read before? or shelved at least? I think there are some great recs in the thread, I gotta admit most of them I'm probably not really interested in though *hides*
we don't know yet when the mini challenge will start (the captains haven't gotten any more information yet either) therefore I think it will definitely be a couple more days.
however, I'm pretty sure I won't have finished Die Sünderin by then, but I'll just put it away for a while and continue reading it in March. maybe that's something you could do as well, Laura :) (I hope you're feeling better btw!)
Kirsten wrote: "Oops didn't realize it was going to be mandatory. Going over to the thread now to leave my recommendations"told ya it will have to do with a mini challenge ;)
and I DM'ed Dima about it, so she'll hopefully see what's going on as soon as she's back online :)
Jenny wrote: "Am I reading the spreadsheet right? Have we covered all of the color cards for February already? since you still have books that will work for coloured cards I suggest you read them in March or April, or start working ones once when we get our new hands for the next months.
I hope everything is clear now, but if not feel free to ask again :)
also, if you have one and feel like it, you could read a book for one of our Reverse cards :)
Well, it’s going to be raining all night tonight, and all day tomorrow so I’ll definite be starting something!
I was taking a look at our spreadsheet seeing what cards still need to be covered before I pick a book.In hand 4, the title of the book is Death Around the Bend, not bent. I don't want us to lose points for something so small, so I thought I'd point it out. And do we need to fill in the authors' names under the Reason column? Is just writing "Author" good enough? I've peeked at other team's sheets and they all have the authors' names filled in.
Laura wrote: "I was taking a look at our spreadsheet seeing what cards still need to be covered before I pick a book.In hand 4, the title of the book is Death Around the Bend, not bent. I don't want us to lose..."
Oops that was probably me typing too quickly (Bent vs Bend), corrected. Good eye! It seems just "author" or giving the author's name is both fine. You will see both options are given on the "Example" sheet that was set up by the challenge creators.
Christina wrote: "oh right, I think we had to read books that our Valentine had read before? or shelved at least? I think there are some great recs in the thread, I gotta admit most of them I'm probably not really interested in though *hides*."Hah, I see quite a few books mentioned that I haven't read but I did purchase at some point and are just sitting on my shelves, so fingers crossed we get matched with someone suggesting some of those (or however they decide to make it work this year).
every team is working a bit differently :) it's basically the same putting the authors name or just write author :)
Finally finished my first book! (
) So I've updated the spreadsheet with it. Now onto finishing my other in progress book!
Hi guys,Do any of you know of a good resource for character lists in books?
I am running into an issue that never occurred to me before. I just finished Killing Mr. Griffin on audio, and although it doesn't matter for this book, as the title begins with the letter K, there are a couple of characters whose names could be spelled many ways. Cline or Klein, for example. When I listen to books, I don't really care how names or places are spelled, but for Uno...

I will wait until later to read The Power. I have plenty of other books to keep me company right now.
Quick question- will you lovely captains let us know when we are close to completing a hand? Like I wrote earlier, I have found books to cover most of the cards we have been dealt so far, and I am happy to patch up any gaps we have in the future.
Happy Tuesday! (Or Wednesday, depending where you are right now!)
