Are books of short stories okay?

Cinthia, as long as the book meets the 100 page cutoff, short story collections are fine. I read one just last week. ;)
Laura wrote: "Cinthia, as long as the book meets the 100 page cutoff, short story collections are fine. I read one just last week. ;)"Great! I figured that was the case, but wanted to be sure. And what happens for author's name if it's a collection of short stories from different authors? Can any of their names be used or only the editor's name?
Team Sculptor suggested Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I just received The View from the Cheap Seats: Selected Nonfiction by the same author on Overdrive. So I can connect those. Two books that I am reading for the mini (Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things and The View from the Cheap Seats: Selected Nonfiction) are NF. How (other than the title and author) can I connect these to the main challenge? I know that Jenny makes a ton of references to (and tells stories about) conversations with her husband and her daughter, can I use them as "characters"?
Jessica wrote: "Team Sculptor suggested Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. I just received The View from the Cheap Seats: Selected Nonfiction by the same author on Overdrive. ..."If it feels like they are characters, then you can use them. But we do need 4s, 2s, and 9s. :)
Finished these two books:
0 - standalone
1 - Oliwjer (character)
2 - title
3 - author
4 - title
6 - Stella (character)
7 - Vic (character)
0 - author
9 - Milford, New York (setting)
Finished "It Happened at Two In the Morning." Really struggled to get through it. Hate when that happens. Will update the sheet.I am starting Room tonight for the mini challenge and any other card we need :-)
My next few books:
which connects to Team Hydrus with yarn/child on cover.
which connects to Team Grus because it's the same series.
which connects to Team Betelgeuse because it's the same author.
Hei, Team Kuiper!I'm Elen from Team Neptune. I read your rec. book: Pretty Little Liars
My opinion: I really liked reading it. The author writing style incredibly easy to read. While reading I was pretty often referring to Tv Show, which I also loved to watch. Bc of that it took me some chapters to separate the book from the show in my head. But after that, reading this book was enjoyable.
Overall, I really enjoyed it. It even may become my guilty pleasure.
Thank you, Elen :)
Completed Furiously Happy: A Funny Book About Horrible Things. Added to main spreadsheet and mini challenge spreadsheet.
Hi Team Kuiper! Team Grus here.....I want to thank you for recommending
It’s been about 4 years since I read it and I’d forgotten just how much I enjoyed it. I’ve already moved on to book 2. Shouldn’t have started it around 1 am though, wound up staying up waaayyyy too late! May have to take a nap today. ;)
Hey team. Just wanted to let you know all know that Chrystal has decided to drop out of the challenge. Her real life stuff hasn't quieted down at all, and she hasn't had much reading time. There are no replacements available, but we've been given the use of 3 books off of Uno Pixie's shelf. Kristel and I will wait until the end of the month, and fill in any gaps that we've got left with books from that shelf. So we've got a 3 book wriggle room, for both the regular hands and the mini-challenge. Although we're more than half-way through our cards, so we probably won't need them for the regular hands.

Who recommended that one? I don't think it was me, although I love those books!
*Age is creeping up when you can't even remember which books you recommended. I blame it on pregnancy - each of my daughters sucked just a little of my brain away! :)
Cinthia, when did you start Immortal: Love Stories with Bite? Just wondering if it's eligible for the mini-challenge?
Laura wrote: "My next few books:

i was thinking about reading The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman for the mini-challenge. It can work for Team Sculptor, Team Neptune or Team Saturn since they all have one book with the same author.
Laura wrote: "Cinthia, when did you start Immortal: Love Stories with Bite? Just wondering if it's eligible for the mini-challenge?"It's not. :( I checked, and I read some of the stories at the end of January. Back then I didn't think it'd be allowed. But I have another book of short stories that will. :)
Oh, and I also finished Ruined. That one works on the mini challenge.

Ok, I'm going a little crazy. This book IS eligible for the main challenge, but not the mini one. It was a different book of short stories (same theme) that I started reading at the end of January but finished a few days ago, and I did not write that one down on the spreadsheet because I started it earlier. Sorry for any confusion.
I'm thinking of reading
and
, both should work for the mini challenge as they're the same books from the list from Team Mercury.

LOL! I recommended that one. I love that series. I've wanted to pick up Prudence, but Just haven't done it yet.

I liked PP best, and then Finishing School. I don't think Prudence is quite as good, but still enjoyable.

Ha! I never even realized there was a Prudence series! I read these in 2014 and must have missed it! I’ll have to have a look.

She's just about to release the 3rd in the Prudence series.

I’ll probably finish the Finishing School series first. Waistcoats & Weaponry has been sitting in my kindle just mocking me for YEARS! Lol! I must have gone through a Steampunk phase then somehow got moved to something else. I’m bad that way.

oh sweet
Hey All. I’m Paulina from Pyxis. Thank you for recommending The Boy in The Striped Pajamas. I had it forever on my shelf, and finally got the kick to read it. It was really “something”. The ending just left me speechless. As a Pole, I have read great number of books about concentration camps, and this one was definitely nothing like the rest of them. Good luck with the rest of the challenge.

That book had a big impact in me. There is a saying that I really love, “throw kindness around like confetti”, and the book just reinforced that in me I guess. I am glad you liked it!
All the very best,
Diana
We are doing so awesome on the mini-challenge!Just a note, though. A few teams have less books recommended and/or look to be difficult to connect to. Or just teams we don't have any connects to yet. If you can, please focus on trying to connect something to the following teams:
Venus
Eris
Tucana
I spoke to soon! I found a connection for Team Venus. I'm going to read An Urchin of Means, which is about a thief and therefore connects to The Book Thief!
Hi all! I'm from team Tucana. I just finished "The Hate U Give" today which was one of the recommendations, and It was great :)I've never seen/read a book talking about police brutality, so this was a really unique story for me. I liked almost all the characters and I really enjoyed Starr's family dynamic. Overall, I rated it 4 stars.
If anyone wants to discuss the book with me, feel free to shoot me a message :)
I added Killman Creek to both spreadsheets. I hope we can use the same book for the mini challenge and for our regular spreadsheet. Team Milky Way recommended Stillhouse Lake. Killman Creek is #2 in the series.
Team Venus recommended A Man Called Ove. Can I read the 100-Year-Old Man Climbed Out the Window and Disappeared? Both books have an old man on the cover.
Christine, yes to everything. Books work for both regular hands & the mini challenge, series substitute was fine, and old man on the cover works to connect them. :)
Nicole wrote: "Finished Strange the Dreamer for the mini challenge"Could you tell me which cards it works for? We can use the book for both the main and mini challenge.
