You could probably work on the second part on the challenge and match setting cover. I saw a few covers with shirtless men.

Ok so for Part 1 let's do these since they all have 2 votes:Team Sculptor
Team Hydrus
Team Musca
So for Part 1 we need to read 2 books from each of these 3 teams that they recommended.
The other teams we can use for Part 2 - we can read 2 books from each of the remaining teams that connect with each of their recommendations. We can read the same book or we can connect them in any way except same page number, same genre, etc. The rules are on the link above.
Sandy - no worries on Part 1. I think between the rest of us we should be able to manage. If you find something you like then go for it. Otherwise like Annalisa said you can focus on Part 2. Read what you would normally read and see if you can connect them in any way with another teams recommendation. Such as similar things on cover, same name in book, same setting, etc. The rules are pretty flexible on this part as long as you can explain the connection and it makes sense.
The Feb mini tab is on our spreadsheet. I'll update the Team we chose tomorrow when I get to work. I'm going to head to bed now :)
Good night. Same here, I'll hopefully finish up my red cover tomorrow and then start a book for the mini.

Sounds good! Can I claim one spot for Part 1 Team Hydrus? I'd like to read one of Ursula K. Le Guin's books for it.
I think if you want to read the book that was listed that is also considered a connection. I have Bossypants audiobook to pick up at the library that I can use for team Hydrus. I need to check length and make sure I can finish it by March 1st though. I think I should be able to.

Yep :) You can use the same book as a connection.
I listened to that book before Annalisa and it was really funny. I don't remember it being too long either.

A quick question for names with von in them (like Maria von Trapp) - can they be used for last name starting with V or not?
General rule of thumb: however the library would shelf it is what you use.Do you know what that one would be shelved under?
It's a character's name in my case but I just looked up a couple of names on my library's website - author Cecily von Ziegesar came up as Von Ziegesar, Cecily and Alexander von Humboldt as Humboldt, Alexander von, Kind of inconclusive, I'll just play it safe and not list it :)

Annalisa wrote: "@Michelle when did you start Catch-22? I am wondering if we can use it for the mini challenge or not. Thanks."On 2-10.
We are currently in First Place!!! Let's try to get as much of the Mini-challenge done as possible :)
I started the audiobook of Bossypants this morning. Audiobooks take me a little longer to finish since I listen to them in the car. Just wanted to give a heads up. Also, I still working on The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making for the red 7. I realize I don't really care for adventure stories so it is taking me a while to get through it. Do we still need me to read it for this month? I can put it aside until next month if we don't have a need for it. If I remember correctly we can count books started in February for March cards.
We don't need it Annalisa. I can use Elena's book for the 7 Red. I'll move it.I'm pretty sure we can use the books as long as they were started after Uno began. I'll double check.
I can finish it but following a 12 year old around when she is hungry and grumpy has not been my idea of a good read. It will fit a lot of different cards and it is red so maybe I can just take a break and finish it next month for a red something. I looked and there wasn't a clear answer but I hadn't gone to the captains' group yet to ask.
Yea we might be able to use it next month. I'm pretty sure from playing before we can but I've haven't seen anything one way or another either.
I asked in general questions. Hopefully have an answer soon. I'm pretty sure it can be, but best to ask.
The answer is yes. Books started in February can be used for March cards as long as they are finished in March. Hooray! I'm going not rush then.

I don't see it anywhere, but has anyone read a book for Part 1 with Sculptor? I'm reading Ink and Bone now and will be done probably tomorrow.
@Michelle multiple teams had Ink and Bone recommend so it fits both part 1 and 2 of the challenge. However, I don't think anyone has claimed a spot for Sculptor.
Annalisa wrote: "@Michelle multiple teams had Ink and Bone recommend so it fits both part 1 and 2 of the challenge. However, I don't think anyone has claimed a spot for Sculptor."OK, thanks! Hopefully it will be useful then.
updated to hereI've read Ink and Bone as well so we can use it as a Reverse if we need to :)
Let me know how you like it!
I'm going to listen to The Hobbit to cover one of Team Musca's spots or if they are filled when I am finished I'm sure I can use it for Part 2 somewhere
I enjoyed it Annalisa. The beginning was really slow and a bit confusing for me but once I got past the first couple of chapters the story really picked up and I read the rest quickly. The second book was just as good. I haven't read the third yet but I plan to.
Hey Team - Just so you all are aware Nicole had to withdraw from the game. This was her first time playing and she didn't know how much time she would need to dedicate to the game. With her work and school it was too much for her. You'll see a new Team Member Pixie on the spreadsheet. We can use 2 books from her shelf in March and April to cover Nicole's books.
I've got a few completion notices to post but haven't had the time the last few days to sit down and post them. Thankfully today is Friday and I have a weekend of reading ahead of me.
No worries Annalisa! Whenever you get to it. I'll be traveling a bit for work in the next 3 weeks so I probably won't be able to post as much but I'll definitely be able to read. I'll have plenty of plane rides to read through :)
