I just read that the he missed the deadline for the book so apparently it's coming out when the 6th season comes out in April.

His new blog post says that he doesn't know when it will be finished or out, but it won't be in time for the new season because of missing the second deadline. The original deadline was October, then the first of the year, and without the first of the year being met, it can't be out now to meet the deadline

Honestly I have sympathy. He apologized and felt horrible in the blog post but had to state facts - he admitted he's not good with deadlines, he's never been a fast writer, and the stress of all this is making it harder to write, which makes him more stressed/depressed in turn.

He says in this blog post that after missing two deadlines for TWOW he wants to write at his own pace. The poor guy can't deal well with pressure.

I just started the first book less than a week ago but watch the show. The first book has sucked me in. I found a group that is reading the whole series (1 book read and discussion lasts 2 months then move on to the next)

As far as Martin not being able to meet the deadlines, I appreciate his honesty. I would rather see it released it without the rushed product. We will get a better story when he himself feels it is ready.
