Looking good, Tien! Though after reading some reviews of Black Dove, White Raven I can't find anything about rivalry? Maybe you found it in other reviews, though!

message 202: by Marie (new)

Marie Davies | 38 comments If you need another option - not sure if you've read
Jenny Han's To All the Boys I've Loved Before? Lots of sibling rivalry in that, I'm told. It's also coming out as a movie soon - I like to read the books beforehand, so this one is going to be my pick for August.

It's been a while and I can't remember!!!

Um, I'm not actually looking forward to this prompt at all... esp. if rivalry is romance-related. Can you please recommend me ones without this aspect because I can tell you that I'd either throw the book at the wall or bang my head on the table :p

edit: I found it! It's been tagged as 'sibling-rivalry' by 1 user (second book from bottom of page)

Children of Blood and Bone has an epic sibling rivalry. I'll Give You the Sun could also work. Ghosts is a graphic novel that would fit the prompt. I haven't made up a list yet because it's not August! But those three off the top of my head are awesome books :)

Clare Snow (claresnow) | 61 comments Tien wrote: "Um, I'm not actually looking forward to this prompt at all... esp. if rivalry is romance-related. ..."

Don't read The Harper Effect Tien 😆 Harper goes out with her sister's ex. If others don't mind that, it would fit the prompt. I haven't read it - I borrowed it from the library and returned it without reading because I remembered I hate romance.

Jandy Nelson's other book The Sky Is Everywhere sort of has sibling rivalry/jealousy.

Tien (tiensblurb) | 92 comments I've read Children of Blood and Bone & Loved it!

I've read The Harper Effect and um... 'nuff said lol

um, ok how about Ash; retelling of Cinderella; is it enough of 'sibling rivalry' to count?

Otherwise, I think I may try Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns #1)

ps: I prefer fantasy than contemporary :)

message 207: by Chiara (new)

Chiara (delicateeternity) | 81 comments Mod
Yay for loving COBAB! :)

I've read Ash and there's not much sibling rivalry... Three Dark Crowns sounds like a perfect fit!

message 208: by Tien (new)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 92 comments I found another possibility for sibling rivalry, I think, Sky in the Deep, yes?

Sounds good! There's also some sibling rivalry in The Young Elites if that's on your to-read list :)

I've read the first book. Does book 2 (The Rose Society?) work too?

lol, I'm not sure how many possibilities I need... thanks for putting up with me, Chiara

They made up at the end of book one so I don't think so! That's okay :) I want you to find a book you're keen on! Here's some more I thought of: This Savage Song, Down Among the Sticks and Bones, Not Your Sidekick.

Just a reminder that November will have four reading prompts, but December is a free month. In December readers can catching up on all the prompts throughout the months that they've missed.

Thanks people, I really appreciate it. I'm only slightly behind with the challenge and we're not eligible but I need to complete it purely for bragging rights.

I seen someone mention the sibling rivalry prompt and I've gone with the Conqueror's Saga. There's a great sibling rivalry in there and book one you can find here And I Darken

For Moving House I've chosen Nice Try, Jane Sinner. She moves into a reality TV house to get away from her parent's house.

I also need some help for Steampunk

Thing is, it doesn't actually fit with the sibling rivalry prompt at all *sighs*

It's definitely not YA. Even the author, Jay Kristoff, said so. It's not meant to be YA (not with that level of violence & sexual content... very dark themes too)

Tien (tiensblurb) | 92 comments Re: Moving House prompt

I'm considering to read Navigating The Stars (Sentinels of the Galaxy #1) or rather a re-read. I read an early manuscript of this back in April and now I've got an ARC in my hands (it's oh so gloriously Pink!)

The protagonist's parents are archaeologists and at the beginning of the book, they are moving to another planet... this counts as moving house, right?

message 247: by Nara (new)

Nara (greengp01) Depends how you class "YA" as a genre. If you think it means "main character is YA" it counts, if you think it's "target audience is YA" then probably not.
