You're welcome :)
And thanks for the recommendation; if SK praised it, then it's a must-read.

I've just added Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow to my tbr list too. I want to read more non-fiction this years to get the little grey cells working again and this sounds really interesting. I see there's an audiobook version too.

Lusie, thank you so much for posting! I did not realise Juliet Marillier was from new zealand :-))

I really enjoyed Big Little Lies. It was a 5 star read for me.

No worries at all. I'm glad I got the right ones :D

Those two books by Harari look fascinating. Thanks for the recs!! I think Margo asked you a question about Caraval further up you may have missed :)

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments I finished The Alice Network last night and started The Magician's Lie for the zodiac challenge.

message 108: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I finished The Haunting of Hill House but I'll be thinking about it for a long time. Such a strange and creepy story!

I have finally started Magpie Murders on audio and I intend to start The Two Faces of January on kindle.

message 109: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have finally finished a book! I have just completed The Lost Village which I really enjoyed. Here is my review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

message 110: by Saar The Book owl (new)

Saar The Book owl | 2648 comments I need to read Big Little Lies too. I'm currently watching the TV - series.

message 111: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I'm 100 pages into Wideacre. At this stage, I'm liking it but certainly not loving it.

I'm also just starting Court of Lions for the Zodiac challenge.

message 112: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments Yay. Just finished the first book of the year - The Little Friend for the monthly challenge. Now I'm not sure what to start. All I know is it needs to be shorter than this one. I'm thinking Artemis then I can get started on my zodiac challenge. Still have Dune on the go but it's size is overwhelming me. Two chunky books on the go at the same time was a bad move. I'm chunked out.

I think you'll enjoy Artemis Sarah but it's not as good as his previous - as I'm sure you've heard before ;-)

Well done on Dune! I read it back when I was college (in the dark ages lol) but I don't think I'd tackle it now.

message 114: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments I wouldn't compliment me on Dune just yet - I've only managed one chapter so far.

message 115: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments LOL - I'll blame the dyslexia!

message 116: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I had a bit of a brain fart yesterday. I started Court of Lions for the Zodiac challenge, only to realise that I haven't started a book for the monthly challenge yet. I am putting Court of Lions back on the shelf for now and I'm going to start A Song for Arbonne instead as I really want to kick start the year by completing a monthly challenge as I haven't participated in one for a while.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Sarah wrote: "I wouldn't compliment me on Dune just yet - I've only managed one chapter so far."

I read Dune in the "dark ages" too, but I can remember rereading it and the next one or two over several times. I think that once you get into it, it will go better, Sarah.

message 118: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4528 comments I'm reading Kindred. I should amend that to "trying to read". I'm only 20 pages in and already I'm disappointed, but I hate baling so early (or at all, really). I like to think the author spent all that time writing all those words, the least I can do is read them. Then again, why suffer? I'll give it a bit longer and see if the writing gets better.

message 119: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments I finished The Magician's Lie for the zodiac challenge, and wasn't overly thrilled with it.

Next up is a new 2018 release, came out on Tuesday - The Night Market. I'm quite excited to read this. It looks like I can count this towards the zodiac challenge as a stand-alone sci-fi.

I just read it last year and enjoyed it. Hopefully it picks up. Sorry to hear it's not doing it for you, Roz.

message 121: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 18549 comments Oh I'm in to the book, chapter one drew me in but it got pushed aside due to my other chunky book. After slogging through that one I don't feel like tackling Dune now. Not a reflectionon the book as what i've read so far i've enjoyed.

Oh that's disappointing Roz! I got the audio in a sale before xmas and and probably going to give a go next month. If I don't like it I won't feel at all bad about bailing!!

message 125: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I finishedMagpie Murders last night. Very enjoyable thriller. A book within a book with tons of easter eggs in it. The ending made my head spin a bit though - a bit hard to take in. This was my red book for the zz challenge.

message 126: by Sandra, Moderator (new)

Sandra (sanlema) | 11260 comments Good to know you liked it, Margo. I have it for one of the options for the red cover too. I am also trying to convince my book club to read it at some point this semester.

message 127: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments I finished The Lost World and learned all about how dinosaurs are good parents.

Next up is Cemetery Dance because it's next on the list.

Lilisa | 2770 comments I'm reading Napoleon: A Life for the 2018 challenge and Lucky Boy.

message 130: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Starting The Remains of the Day.

message 131: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments Could not sleep last night and was completely wasting The Remains of the Day (listening) so I started My Family and Other Animals which is a relisten. It was a long night :-(

I'm looking forward to the movie too.

message 135: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I have given up on A Song for Arbonne for the time being. Guy Gavriel Kay is clearly an author I have to be in the mood for and now is not the right time for me to try and read this book. However, I think it's the sort of the book that will blow me away if I read it at the right time, so I will definitely pick it up and try it again some day. It means I won't complete January's monthly challenge but I would rather read this book when I am in the mood for it rather than trying to force my way through it now.

message 139: by Peggy (new)

Peggy (pebbles84) | 15868 comments I finished The Sex Lives of Cannibals: Adrift in the Equatorial Pacific the moment the plane touched the runway. I really liked it and look forward to reading more by this author.

I'm back home now, so I'll pick up Oathbringer again.

Did you like RPO? It was ome of my favorite books last year.

message 141: by Margo (new)

Margo | 11628 comments I thought that my library audio download of My Family and Other Animals was a bit choppy but I put it down it my tiredness while listening.

Only realised today that it is an abridged version :0

Sent it back Straight Away And Ordered The Next Best Version Available The Durrells of Corfu

message 142: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59884 comments I finished The Night Market, and really enjoyed it. I rather enjoy books that have a twist at the end.

Next up is Thornwood House for the zodiac challenge.

message 143: by KimeyDiann (new)

KimeyDiann | 2174 comments I have been in quite the reading slump for the past couple of months. Up until this past weekend I have only been listening to audiobooks. I've been working on listening to The Kingfountain Series by Jeff Wheeler which I love. I just started on the fifth book in the series, The Silent Shield.

The first and only book I have consumed with my eyes and not my ears this year was Harry Potter and the Cursed Child - Parts One and Two which I read all in one day on Saturday.

message 144: by Roz (new)

Roz | 4528 comments I gave Kindred another chance. I'm glad I did. It got better. I just wanted more from the ending. I wanted to know what happened to the other slaves. Where did they go? Modern relatives?

message 145: by Mariab (new)

Mariab | 3059 comments I'm reading Neuromancer
(tough text!)

message 146: by Kristie, Moderator (new)

Kristie | 19137 comments I have more than enough books going at the moment, but I just started Other People's Houses. I was sitting on the beach and didn't want to bring my Kindle, so another new book it is.

Ooh. I remember my copy had tiny writing. Most of the time I didn't have a clue what was going on but I really liked it and got me in to Gibson's writing style. How are you finding it?

I like it. Reading is taking longer (I search online the words/words-compounds I don't understan, in an Urban Dictionary AND in a sort of Glossary made only for the made up words and neologisms from Gibbon - I know, a bit extreme; I really HATE not understanding something I'm reading)
