I found it on thriftbooks.com and abebooks.com. I’m going to order it.

I hope everyone is doing okay and staying safe. I'm taking a break from my laptop and 90% of my online usage while I'm deep into my puzzle making. My brain is thanking me! I browse reddit from time to time and update my socials once in a while, that's it. I love not seeing so much drama. Sorry state the world is in. I just wanted to check in and say I'm alive, but taking a break from Goodreads (and this buddy read group) for the time being, but I will catch up!
I will be around and see any messages I get if you want to talk. I'm willing to Facebook friend any who want to see my puzzle updates or go to Instagram @leighas_life lol (I'm so obsessed lol)
Good to hear from you Leigha! I've been away for a while too but I'm back now. I'm behind so I'm catching up on The Surprise Party and The Hitchhiker.
I’m going to start Drop Dead Gorgeous early. All my group reads will be from the actual library so those will be a while.
I’m up to chapter 7. You can take Stine out of the 90’s but .... I would not have guessed that’s what this book would be about. You find out at the end of chapter 5.
This is one of the very few Stine books that's actually at my local library but it's shut for another 2 weeks so hopefully I'll be able to get it before May is over.
We finally get our Shadyside tie in at the end of chapter 11. This one doesn’t take place in Shadyside. And again, these boys are their hormones 🙄
Chapter 22- HOLY SHIT! I can’t wait for y’all to read this. I was NOT expecting or even thinking about that! Oh I’m very excited now.
I finished last night. His characters are still one dimensional but I liked this one. It had a twist I never saw coming. It doesn’t take place in Shadyside but we do get a glimpse of what it’s become(It’s sad). I hope you both like it too.
Checking in to say that I finished The Hitchhiker, only 2 months late lol I'm debating between a 3.5 and a 4. For now, I am going to round it down to a 3 because I am not going to lie, the first half was quite boring for me. I have read this before as a teen and I didn't remember the twist, which I am grateful for. Toward the end, it started to get good. I stopped reading it around the midway point 2 months ago because I wasn't feeling it at the time, but today, I told myself I was just going to read another chapter, but then it hooked me and I finished the whole thing. If only I had just stuck it out longer back then! Oh well...
I will say that it feeling boring could have been down to the fact that I was entering a reading slump and feeling out of sorts because of the state of the world (and health issues/worries)
Received the book Hide and Shriek Hide and Shriek today in the mail. I started and finished within an hour. It was a good read. Kept my interest. I loved the whole story of Pete. Had me guessing on who Pete had taken over the year before. It was a fun read.
I'm about half way through and enjoying it so far. He's managed to modernize the setting and include things like cell phones but I think Stine's still never spoken to an actual teenager!
Hi everyone! I wasn't able to get a copy of Hide and Shriek but other than that I'm finally caught up. Hope everyone is doing well and staying safe in these crazy times. The Surprise Party--I liked the twist in this one, but I felt like the build up was a little slow. I kept wondering if we were ever going to get to this party. Haha
The Hitchhiker--Really liked this one. I knew something was up but I couldn't exactly figure what was going on. So the reveal was kind of a surprise to me.
Drop Dead Gorgeous--This was another one where I knew something was going on, and I kinda started to figure out the twist but I still thought it was really well done. I did appreciate the more modern tone of this one, but really one of my favorite things about this group is the nostalgia from reading the older ones. But this was more solid than I thought it would be.
Looking forward to the Dead Lifeguard!
FYI, The Internet Archives National Emergency Library has tons of R.L. Stine books. You just have to do the proper searches (I found them searching "horror" but their search engine isn't the greatest).

I forgot to post about DDG! It was ok, three stars for me. I'm not sure he's spent that much time with teenagers in the last few years, but at least the teenage girls in this were less whiny and had a bit more backbone than some of the 90's ones.

I've read 39 chapters so far. Still enjoying it. :)
Hello! I have finished Hide and Shriek. I did like it. 3 stars. However, (view spoiler)lol Maybe that is a silly nitpick, but it rubbed me the wrong way!
I'm glad i'm not the only one that rubbed the wrong way! It rubbed me the wrong way as well Leigha. Of course I figured I was probably projecting my trans issues onto it, though it's like they weren't even trying.
i won't be rereading the dead lifeguard. it read it when i began my journey back down fear street. so it's just too soon. i hope everyone likes it.
