Latasha wrote: "thanks Kellie, she does better with it. I'm looking forward to Blind Date next month. i don't remember anything about it but i'm guessing from the cover we are going to get some Egyptian magic!"
Glad she is doing better with it.

Latasha wrote: "Yeah but for continuing it next year. Are you in for that? We’ll be 1 book a month, just like now."Yeah I’d be up for it.
ok, so for next year we have me, Jen, Melaine, Leigha and Kellie. start thinking about your 2 picks for next year. let's try to have them in by the end of Sept. you can name them here or send me a message. as long as it's R.L. Stine, it's ok. It has to be a book we have not read yet. check the very first post for that info.
I will think of my 2020 picks soon. I will try and catch up on this months book in the coming months when I'm back in a reading mood. The health stuff really threw me off. (I was going to check 'The Wrong Number' out through Scribd, but now maybe I can try and find my own copy. I swore I had a copy! :(

Alan wrote: "I've never read any Goosebumps. Are they all stand-alone stories, you can read in any order?"Most of them are yes. If they aren't they have the number 2 or 3 in the title, like Night of the Living Dummy 2 & 3. Otherwise they are all standalones.

Jen, since you have Jan and I have Feb, would you like to switch one of yours for my New Year's Party? For example, we read New Year's party (My pick) in Jan and Surprise Party (your pick) in Feb? Basically we trade our picks lol
Let me know! :)

Cool, thanks Jen!So far the line up is looking really great. I can't wait to see what the last 2 books will be!
Blind Date Kerry's had a very bad year. But now his luck has finally changed.
He's got a blind date with a girl who sounds really hot.
He can't wait. He knows this girl is going to be really different.
Kerry's right.
Because his blind date really is the girl of his dreams.
Or maybe his worst nightmares...
do you think this one is about witches although the cover would make you think Egyptian?
I just started and I can see what you mean by outdated. Most of his books, if not all of them have some outdated elements. It can be pretty funny, but it also makes me feel old.
Me too. The street this mystery date lives on sure sounds a lot like Fear Street. Did you catch that?
I've read this before as a kid, but it has been so long, it only gives the faint Deja Vu feeling. At the end of chapter three: Okay, what the heck just happened!?Anyone else put off with how R L Stine has his main male characters think about/describe females?
Example:
(view spoiler)
Kerry is something. That’s for sure. It’s very off putting but I don’t remember it being such a big deal back then. Maybe I was younger and thought that was the norm? I don’t know.
I think I was the same as you. Back in the day, I didn't blink an eye at anything "problematic" as I think it just went right over my head or I thought it was normal.--
I just got Drop Dead Gorgeous in the mail and even if this new Return to Fear Street series turns out to be meh, the books themselves are nice looking. I might break down and buy the first two in the series (this is #3) It is trade size though and doesn't fit in with the old school mass markets lol
You may now kill the bride was good. It's very different from the ones we are reading now. I think you'll enjoy it more than these.
I have finished! Had a fun time with it actually, particularly the second half of it and the ending.
i forgot to come over here with my finishing thoughts. i liked it. i didn't guess the twist this time either.
I just finished this and I liked it. I am glad it was more of a hit, rather than a miss like some nostalgic books end up being! I gave it a 3.5 rounded up to 4.
I'm so behind but I just finished Wrong Number. I really liked that one a lot. I'll probably be reading Blind Date this week-end.
