Any book which has not been released yet would count as an ARC. If it has been released, then it needs to fit one of the other categories to count.

do re-reads count for this challenge? Just curious because they'd no longer be new to you series xD
a little bleh about the fact that sequels won't count either unless they're published last year haha. more new series.im starting.
And what do you mean by new to you genre? How many books do you have to have read to be considered no longer new to one?
And what do you mean by new to you genre? How many books do you have to have read to be considered no longer new to one?
also:
1. even if we start the series this month, can we count the rest of the series too or only the first one?
2. if weve already read only one book by the author is the author still considered new to us?
3. if a genre isn't one we would normally read is it new to us?
Just after a little clarification please haha

No, re-reads don't count for this challenge as the books wouldn't be new to you.

For it to be a new-to-you genre, it would have to be something that you had never read before. So for instance, if you had never read a historical book, or a poetry book, etc. If you've read the genre before this January, then it wouldn't count as a new genre.

1. If you start a new series from book 1 this january, for the first time, then it will count as a new series, and you will be able to read the whole series under that category.
2. For an author to be considered new-to-you for this challenge, you need to have not read any other books by them prior to this january.
3. For a genre to be considered new-to-you, you need to have not read books in that genre prior to this january. So if for instance you have previously read a 'cosy mystery', then that genre would no longer be new to you, so you wouldn't be able to read a cozy mystery this january, and categorise it as 'new-to-you genre'.

I hope you can join our team Jackie! We are missing Loretta still so there's a good chance! ^-^

We are second last. I'm on team Iced. :(

of course you can :)
we are supposed to be looking for the highest edition of each book we read regardless of what language it's in. it doesn't matter as long as it's the highest page count.

I don't think she's talking page count Maddison. I think she's wondering about the 2017/2018 category. :)

Yes. As long as you have never read the series or the author before January 1st then you can read as many books by that author as you want and you can read the whole series. :)

I don't know at the moment to be honest. I will have a look tomorrow, but I will have to message people and give them chance to join their team, I won't be able to just replace them straight away, so it will be a few days minimum before I can add you to a team.

I'll discuss it with Abbie, it is difficult though as we only take into account the 'first published' date for this challenge, not the publication date of other editions.

Rebecca wrote: "if I start a series in new series to me category can I continue with the series? Same question for read a -new to you - author?"
Yes, you can read the whole series or more than 1 book by the same author. You must use the same category for each of the books in the series though, or use 'new author' for every book by that author ☺

As you are reading the book in your native language, we'll accept the publication date for that edition, just let us know when you post your review that you read a different edition ☺
