That was a good book wasn't it Diana :)

message 156: by Kate (new)

Kate | 25 comments Finished #3 and, if it's at all possible, I feel even more respect for Hillary Clinton. A heartfelt, personal take on the events leading up to the 2016 US election, and her reaction and response to the defeat. She's as resilient and as admirable as ever. Talk about grace under pressure!

It's worth it, Kerrie.

Kate | 25 comments Hmmm ... I've hit a roadbump with the challenge! I'm still waiting on the other two on my list: NORSE MYTHOLOGY by Neil Gaiman and SANCTUARY by Judy Nunn to arrive. I think these two will have to wait for another challenge. Meanwhile onwards! This one did arrive so I think it might well substitute for the Gaiman:
La Belle Sauvage (The Book of Dust, #1) by Philip Pullman

message 173: by Kerrie (new)

Kerrie (kez66) | 73 comments Starting late but making up for it. Found my first book slow to get going but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. So many issues covered.
Up Until Now by Petrea King by Petrea King 4.5*
I came across the Quest for Life Foundation when reading one of my Goodread books for January: 'Up Until Now', chosen because the author was Australian. So many topics covered that are topical today although much of the story starts pre 1980's and goes into the 2000's. Self confidence, self esteem, mindfulness, resilience, religion, philosophy, relationships, travel, different cultures, health, palliative care, mentoring, bringing up kids as a sole parent and more. A book I stayed up late to finish, 'cos I can't put it down.
Petrea is a naturopath, yoga and meditation teacher who knows well that 'experiences may shape us but they do not define us.' And she quotes Mahatma Gandi who I have quoted here before: 'An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.' Petrea exhorts us to 'see the other as ourselves' and learn to live passionately, with purpose.
