Aaaannd... That's it! After 4 days of frantic reading, the final read-a-thon of 2017 is over! We hope you had a wonderful time!

Here are a few questions to wrap everything up:

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?

You're welcome to go back and do any of the challenges/games you're interested in that you may have missed!

Zaz | 2969 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
2 manga, 1 graphic novel, 2 children books. Around 435 with pictures, not counting graphic novels and manga. It's my lame score of the year :p

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I finished some stuff but absolutely not the 2 I wanted to finish. Social life is the worse, it ate all my Sunday!

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I didn't feel really involved, I prefer team read-a-thons. As usual, I liked Guess the cover.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon? Bergères Guerrières

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
Teams :p

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes, if I'm more available than for this one, it was a struggle.

I read only 196 pages because of early Christmas activities this weekend. I finished one picture book and made a good dent in the mystery I was reading.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
See above. I had hoped to finish Devil's Breath but still have 100 pages left.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
For what I did, yes it was fun. I like the Guess the Cover game.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
My mystery and getting a ways into Great Expectations.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?

Yes!

Tracy, spoiler alert, there will be teams in the January read-a-thon ;)

But if you're itching to get an idea of how they work, you can see old read-a-thon activities in the archive section.

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I finished four books and read 541 pages.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
Mostly. I would have liked to make more progress on Fall of Giants but I enjoyed the other books I read so I’m not too concerned. I got distracted by the publication of the 2018 Book Riot list!

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes! I really enjoyed all the games, especially those that gave me chance to see what other people are reading or would recommend. And it’s nice to have everyone encouraging each other.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
Surprisingly, I really enjoyed Lumberjanes, Vol. 1: Beware the Kitten Holy, even though it’s not the type of book I normally read.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I think it’s nice to have a full week for a readathon, though I do understand why it was shorter this time and I actually think it worked really well for me as a dose of pre-Christmas reading motivation.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes, can’t wait. :-)

Rachel A. (abyssallibrarian) | 3282 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I finished off one book that I started pre-readathon, one full book, and about 2/3 of another. I think it was around 600 pages in total.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I didn't really have very firm goals, so I'm pretty happy with what I accomplished, even if one of the books took me longer than expected since I just couldn't get into it. I have a lot going on in my personal life now, so it limited how much time I had to read.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I really liked both of the book tags. Otherwise, the readathon was nice, but too short. It was nearly half-over before I even realized it had started. I felt very behind with this one. I'm on the boards every day, so I'm surprised I missed it.

4. What was your favorite read of the read-a-thon?
I didn't really like the only book that I managed to finish (What I Thought Was True), but I liked When the Moon Was Ours (which I finished on the first day).

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
Honestly, maybe it's just me but this is the second time where I've found the individual board game very confusing. I liked that the rules were clarified a bit this time so people were all making moves the same way, but I still found it frustrating to try and figure out where I was supposed to be. I know it really shouldn't be that hard, and I honestly have no idea why it stresses me every time.

I would like more team bingo games, or at least a longer read-a-thon period so I could actually feel like I accomplished something, lol

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes, as long as I'm aware they are happening. No clue how I almost missed it this time!
