Lol I should think of something funny to do with it. I don't understand why the Finnish edition has a cover like that. I looked at the other editions, and they all seem normal.

BUT!! I am ALSO clearing out some books for a community yard sale that's upcoming, so they shall be offset. I just have to actually decide which books are unlikely to ever actually be read, and purge them.

Alrighty... I'm back to where I was. I added 7 new books and thus have selected 7 books to donate/sell. Even Stevens. I might actually purge more and give myself some buy credits for books I want. Since NOT buying books is something I'm not capable of.
I've taken 80 books to my library, 20 more are waiting for me to take them. I've given 8 books to friends and family. I've read 0 books.I think it's going great! At this point I think my actual goal is to read two of my owned unread physical books :D They're the only two I couldn't take to the library unread, so I took that to mean I want to read them.

Good heavens, that is a lot of books for your library, they must really like seeing you.
I'm slowly purging some of the owned books that I am probably never going to read either, but I feel you on the reticence.. I acquired them because at some point I wanted to read them... but my tastes and interests have changed so some are really just not relevant anymore. But that's good, because it means that I can refresh my library and have books that I'm actually interested in taking up the space. :D

I also don't feel we have enough books, but according to my father, this is a genetic trait and I will feel this way my entire life, completely unrelated to the number of books I have. For me, this challenge is a great excuse for me to read some of the things my spouse keeps talking about, and several ebooks I downloaded just because and have been wishy washy about.

I think it’s so neat. Basically she works in the book business (started as an editor, now writes and reviews or something) and books are given to her for free. Long story short- she has too many. So she gives a book to everyone who goes to her house.

Oh I agree! I used to wear makeup and OMG! That stuff is like...a 5-8 book binge. Or 2-3 newly released hardbacks!
I read 5 books in March, three of which counted to reducing my owned book pile. Sadly, I bought 6 books so I am -3 for the month and I am even (books read/books purchased) for the year. Points for the year so far, 900.

49 in 3 months is amazing. I wish I could read that fast!
I daily am thankful for cheap books on Amazon and other websites (legal ones). Also, I read fairly fast plus travel on a bus to work (at least an hour in each direction), so I have a lot of time to read. And I read a lot of mysteries which are short and quick reads.
I have read 12 books so far, 10 for this challenge but I have acquired 12 :0(
I powered through 3 books in the last week of March for an additional 490 points. Total points for the 1st quarter = 1815. I am about 11 books ahead and trying to resist the siren song of the secondhand bookstore.
So far I have cleared 10 books from my shelf for 985 points.
So, what's the deal on books we want to DNF? Are we allotted a finite number?

I'm going to count them as a book "read", hence off my TBR, and no longer hanging over my head... but I won't count other points, like pagecounts, etc unless I've actually read them.
If I DNF a thousand pager at 400 pages though, I will count the 300 I made it thru. I think that's only fair. LOL

This makes a lot of sense. I think I shall do this.
I've done pretty well with NOT DNF'ng so far. But DT for DAMN THAT on the one I'm trying right now. I'll *try* to give it another...chapter? Two? And then I'm gonna call it. Cause I'm not having fun and I don't want to jinx my reading mo-jo.
Though, you'll be happy to know that I managed to pass the DNF point on You're Never Weird on the Internet! I think this one will be finished.

I feel you, Allison. I keep getting new books too, though I try to resist. I just choose a book to purge for each new one. Keeps my head above water. Yesterday my husband said something about me having 200 unread books at home and I was like riiiiiiiiight "200"... He laughed and said 'physical books I mean' and I said riiiiiiiiight...

LOL"Since I'm counting backlogged novellas for this challenge, my semi-arbitrary guideline for counting a DNF book is whether I read at least a novella's worth of pages (200 pages-ish).
Does buying a book count if it's a second copy of one I already own?I sometimes buy the Kindle or Audio book of something I already have on my shelf. That way I can read it during my commute and work breaks.

I would not count it as a new book, or an extra book on the shelf. However, I'd try to estimate which version of it I read most for my determination of which "format" I'd read in so that I didn't feel I was cherry picking for the bonus.
