Kate Noir | 3 comments I'm trying to remember the title of a book I found two years ago. I don't remember a lot, but here's what I do. It was a fantasy novel, taking place in a world where magic existed and was known about by everyone. There was a you man who was forced, for whatever reason, to work as a slave in a castle. There was a prince/princess (not sure which, I think princess) there that was kind to him. Their parents didn't trust him however, and had him and the prince/princess kept away from each other as often as possible. The slave could see a temple from his room, and often wished to leave the castle. I know that this book has a sequel, but I don't know if it's longer than a duology. I think that there was a drawing of an eye on the cover, and It might have been yellow/gold. It was in my middle school library, so It has to be school appropriate. By school appropriate I just mean no explicit sexual content. The library has books like Six of Crows and False Prince, just not books like Captive Prince and Game of Thrones.

Update: I found it in the library after about 30 minutes of searching. It's called Eyes of War by Janna Nickerson.

Do you remember why the King/Queen didn't trust him? Was the kingdom big or little?

Did it seem to be written in this era (meaning in the last 5 or so years) or was it one of those books that keep getting published over and over again, because they are such great works? (Ex. of this are: The Book of Three and it's following books, So You Want to Be a Wizard et. al and others like these)

The king and queen didn't trust him because he was a large and imposing man being forced to work in their castle. They thought he would hurt their child because of his size and situation (despite him not being violent toward them if I remember correctly). I'm not sure how large the kingdom was, but it was big enough to have multiple large cities and vast farmlands. Also, I assume that it was published within the last 10 years.

SBC (essbeecee) | 1594 comments I don't think I know this book but there are quite a few Listopias of book covers with an eye or eyes. Have you been able to look through them? (Some are quite long!)
