26: A book with a text only cover
EitherWhite Teeth ( another one sitting on my shelf forever), or Exit West, which I was really looking forward to reading this year. Depends on my mood.
Great choices Tracy. Zadie Smith is one of the authors I want to read for the first time in 2018 so I might read White Teeth too. I added Exit West to my TBR when it was shortlisted doe the Booker Prize so that’s also a possibility for me for this week. I had been thinking about
for this week too.
Ready Player One is a great choice Bryony!I weirdly have lots of feminism books as options for this one:
I am choosing among
,
, or
. They are all so different from one another, so I am thinking I'll see how I feel next June.
Thanks for all the books on feminism with text-only covers, Sophie! I've read a couple but may try one of the others. Also considering:
My original list was almost all nonfiction, but after reading this thread, I added some fiction to the list! Not sure how I will choose between them...
Here's my list:
Here's my list:
My copy of The Feast of All Saints by Anne Rice is text only cover. I'm excited to read her in historical fiction genre.

It really just depends on how strict you want to be with your challenge. I suppose glass would be considered an object but since the text is really the primary thing and the focal point then I don't think most would take issue with you counting it.

Thanks I looked through the suggestion list and there were some that were similar so I'm going to allow it for myself :)
I decided to choose The Christmas Box Collection: The Christmas Box / Timepiece / The Letter by Richard Paul Evans. Several years ago, I received a beautiful handmade Christmas box from my grandpa with a copy of this book inside. Ever since, I have read the series each Christmas season and it's one of my favorite Christmas traditions! I didn't have time to finish the third book of the series, "The Letter," so this is the first book I'm working on as part of this challenge! I can't wait to finish it tonight!
I'm going to try to plod through And_the_Band_Played_On by Randy Shilts for this week. Fingers crossed.https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...
I just read Between the World and Me by Ta-Nehisi Coates for this challenge:
I LOVED it. I'm a stickler with 5 stars but it earned it.
My list of challenge books is here.
I am reading the categories out of order so I have already completed this one. I used The Wanderers by Meg Howrey. The cover is about 98% text, which was close enough for me.
I wouldn't use that one, Penny, as it has waves, clouds, sky, an interdimensional doorway...I've found a few options for myself:
The Dorito Effect: The Surprising New Truth About Food and Flavor
a booked designed to encourage me to keep my new years resolution.
What are you reading for this category?
I read this to motivate me. I enjoyed it despite not liking non-fiction typically.

I don't read self-improvement but I wanted to motivate myself. I found it very interesting.

What are you reading for this category? Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race - This was Emma Watson's pick for OSS book club for January-February. The cover's all text so it works out.
Exit West . Even though it could be classified as magical realism which isn't really my thing the realism was strong enough to offset the magical aspect for me.
I had my local librarian on the look out for a good book for me. She came up with three choices. The library has a new collection of Agatha Christies and The A.B.C. Murders: A Hercule Poirot Mystery just has words. Yay, sounds like fun.
- What are you reading for this category?
I choose this book because the movie is coming out in August.

I would count it since the stripes aren't really images or an identifiable material

It was interesting but not sure it was worth the love its been getting
I find it interesting in this age of ebooks I never know what a cover looks like! I picked up a book at t a bookstore a few weeks ago thinking "this looks good." It was- I read it last year.

Anyone else feeling irrationally picky about what exactly qualifies as text only? I actually picked Big Fat Manifesto at first, but my copy arrived from the library with this cover instead:
So it didn't quite seem appropriate anymore. I have quite a few other options on my list, but as I'm looking, I find myself really picky about what really "counts". For example, would something like
count? It's technically just words, but each letter has a design.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one on this.

For me, the graphic map lines are more clearly the focus rather than just having the words, but as always, this is a very subjective prompt.
