I originally thought this was a David Gemmell Druss series book but none of the books I can find a synopsis for seem to fit. I do remember it was a book club title from a SF/Fantasy Book club and was probably published in the 90’s or possibly the late 80s. Unfortunately in one of my many moves I appear to have lost the book and recently developed an itch to reread the book. I seem to remember the book seemed to be about the redemption of the central character in his own eyes as he needs to rebuild the order of the 100 to face another great evil after previously refusing to re-establish it after the death of his original order died. I seem to remember he recruits the help of a great hero who he has known for many years to gather another 100. The details beyond this I can’t remember so any help in reminding me of the title and author would be very much appreciated.

Robert, what are the fantasy elements (e.g., knights have supernatural abilities, magic, dragons)?
If I remember right the knights had abilities granted by the gods there were also magic users. Also if I remember right the “great hero” was almost a Conanesque type character
As I remember it was set in a medieval type world there may even have been elves as one of the races.
Please note you can "bump" your thread/topic (add a new comment) every 30+ days because this group is so large -- or sooner if you remember more information which you can add at any time.
You mentioned there might be elves in the story. Are there fantastical creatures/characters such as dragons or wizards/mages?
Somehow, this also sounds familiar to me, and I will try to put some thought into it. I have read so very much fantasy throughout my life, that some of it blends together inevitably. Could the knights/warriors have been Templars or some type of Freemasons (with elves & other fantasy elements included)?
It was definitely a Templar like order. I thought it was a David Gemmel book but none of the synopsis I’ve read for his books seem to match
Several of David Gemmell's works in his Drenai series feature an order of monks called The Thirty. Each new grouping is initiated by the sole surviving member of the previous group.
