What is this book? Contemporary cinderella based retelling about a teenager. Mother marries wealthy car dealership owner. Her father was a musician and her mother has forbidden her from playing any musical instrument. Heroine teaches herself the guitar and is taught by her fathers former band-mate in the bar that he owns. Because she is forbidden to play, heroine dresses as a nerd during school and has a secret rock band where she can dress as she chooses. One boy in school starts noticing her and then they are paired up for a group assignment where he starts to learn her secrets. Anybody have any ideas?

I read this about 2 years ago. From what I remember the cover is simple and did not have a modern design. I want to say that it takes place in california but I am not sure. She also has two evil step-sisters. At the end of the book we learn that her moms dad is the owner of a big record label and he wants to help his newly reunited granddaughter get her own record deal but she decides to go to local college with an amazing music program with her band mates.
