Shelli The Passage...I really enjoyed it.

message 903: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Theft of Swords....really enjoyed it!

message 904: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I read 'Theft' as the original 2 books out of order at Robin's (Michael's wife) request. I ARC read most of the series. They are good. Next August, the first of a prequel duology or trilogy should be released. I beta read it & liked it more than I expected.

message 906: by Curlyhair (new)

Curlyhair Recently finished and loved The Overlook (Harry Bosch, #13) by Michael Connelly .Def. worth a look if you like crime detective books

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I've just finished Dark Fire by C.J. Sansom. It was very good, ideal if you like historical mystery.

message 909: by Curlyhair (new)

Curlyhair Just finished Long Lost by Harlan Coben. Best o.ne of the Myron Bolitar series yet.

Angela (bookangel2) | 220 comments I finished two more in the Matthew Shardlake historical mystery series - Sovereign (Matthew Shardlake, #3) by C.J. Sansom and Revelation (Matthew Shardlake, #4) by C.J. Sansom . They were both excellent. I've got one more to read, which I'll probably start when I've finished Started Early, Took My Dog (Jackson Brodie, #4) by Kate Atkinson . Lots to look forward to!!

message 911: by Shelli (new)

Shelli Tell the Wolves I'm Home...my favorite of the year so far.
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch....my World Book Night book....very funny and a great read.
Midnight Riot...surprisingly good.
The Fault in Our Stars....very good but very tough to read...tearjerker...emotional YA.
The Dog Stars....surprised how much I liked it.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) Day Camp in Hawaii by Paula Knoderer Hrbacek is for grades 1 - 6 according to the title page. I disagree. It's not just for day camp, Hawaii, or those ages. With very little imagination, it gives any parent a lot of fun ideas of things to do with kids singly or in groups cheaply, whether you're on a trip, have a rainy vacation day, or a birthday party. Baby sitters should read it, too.

Steven Farmer (sfarmer76) | 5 comments 'We Are What We Pretend To Be: The First and Last Works' by the late Kurt Vonnegut.

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I gave 4 stars to Dead Anyway by Chris Knopf. A tech thriller & the first I've read by him. Someone recently wrote a review about it which intrigued me & I managed to find it as an audio book. I forget who you were, but thank you!

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I was blown away by Mark Chisnell's The Wrecking Crew, the first of his that I've ever read, although this was the 2d in the series. Don't let that stop you from reading this first. It works. The designation is mere chronology.

Niamh (niamhc) | 3 comments Just finished the bell jar and can't get it out of my head. Didn't know the story of Plath before I read it and now I'm obsessed!

message 917: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just read Wool Omnibus (Silo, #1), the first 5 pieces of what promises to be a huge story. Wouldn't be surprised to see it made into a video game. I gave it 4 stars.

message 918: by Gerry (new)

Gerry Chambers | 23 comments I have just finished Nancy by Adrian Fort. I would rate it a 3 star. Very well researched. If you have any interest in learning more about England's first female member of parliament I highly recommend this book.

message 919: by Jim (new)

Jim (jimmaclachlan) I just finished Satori by Don Winslow, a sequel to Shibumi by Trevanian. It explains much about Nicholas Hel, the cynical assassin & how he was formed. Surprisingly good. I gave it 4 stars. My review is here:

Gerry Chambers | 23 comments Me too. I finished that book late last summer. Very good. What are you reading now? I just finished "Silent Wife". Very good. Highly recommend it.

message 922: by Gerry (new)

Gerry Chambers | 23 comments I also love that show. Try to catch it every Thursday night if I can. I am reading "Alone in the Classroom" by Elizabeth Hay. I belong to a book club at our local library branch and it is this months selection. It is interesting. More for the romantics in our group, lol. Good Valentine's day selection I think.

message 923: by Gerry (new)

Gerry Chambers | 23 comments Will do.

message 924: by Shane (new)

Shane (Shaneybobs) | 80 comments Gulag; by Anne Applebaum. Quite a thick paperback with very small print. A lot of detail on the GULAG system and the utter madness and cruelty of Stalin's regime. Some of the subject matter that the book touches on (touches is the wrong word as it does go into some detail)are books in themselves. Took me AGES to read, but well worth the effort.

message 925: by Emily (new)

Emily (devilyn) | 14 comments Not long finished The Woods by Harlan Coben and its got me hooked on his books. Reading Caught now... loving it

message 926: by Lindsey (new)

Lindsey (booksdingle) | 1 comments I just finished 'Lottery' by Patricia Wood - it was brilliant - one of very few books I have given 5 stars too....give it a go if you are looking for something a little different I think 99% of people will really enjoy it.
