DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments It is a great feeling when you do...the only sadness is when you come to the end.

message 507: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) I just finished A Gate at the Stairs. Although it took me a while to get into it, I ended up really enjoying this post-9/11, coming-of-age story, set in a Midwestern university town. It reminded me of a brooding, boo-hoo period in my life. You can read my full review at my blog.

Trilogy? I thought there were a lot more than 3 books in the series?

message 511: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) | 39 comments Anne Rice had a lot of books dealing with vampires/the occult before her conversion. I am 99% sure it is a trilogy as I remember buying the paperbacks in a box set...

message 512: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) | 39 comments BTW that was probably 20 yrs ago

message 513: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (stephaniex88) | 76 comments I just finished Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop and really enjoyed it. I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

message 514: by DJ (new)

DJ (djdivaofjava) | 659 comments I think Anne Rice did write more of them and that was when It became THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES which also tied into her series THE MAYFAIRS....
I will check title tomorrow when home to confirm, please bear with me?

message 515: by Liz (new)

Liz (zucchiniesinbikinies) I recently finished Poison Study and really loved it!

message 516: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah23l) Just finished Interview With the Vampire today. I gave it 5 stars. I thought it was an excellently written book, and I love Rice's portrayal of vampires. After all the Twilight hype, it was interesting to go back and read about vampires in the more traditional sense.

Sarah (pythonette83) | 9 comments I finished The Pop Larkin Chronicles: The Darling Buds of May / A Breath of French Air / When the Green Woods Laugh / Oh to Be in England / A Little of What You Fancy and really enjoyed it. Gives you a real feeling of an idyllic life in the country during the 50's. Anyone remember the TV dramatisation in the early 90's starring a very young Catherine Zeta Jones?

Yassemin (yas666) | 59 comments The colour- Rose Tremain.

I absolutely loved this book. Picked it up for the 1001 books and dreaded it, it looked quite honestly crap. That was not the case. Quite slow in pace but has a good plot with a couple of sub plots going on, and the descriptions of New Zealand and the characters made it almost like a movie in my head. Would recommend!

message 550: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Shimotakahara (lshimo) I just finished Impounded: Dorothea Lange and the Censored Images of Japanese American Internment. Although Dorothea Lange's best known for her Depression era photos of U.S. sharecroppers, she also took some really moving photos of Japanese internment camps in California and I have been using them as a source of inspiration in my writing....
