It's time to start thinking about the next group read and I would like to start with Male authors.
So far, we already have Marina's suggestion of Michael Kohlhaas by Heinrich von Kleist
I would like to throw in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
Does anyone else have any ideas?

Yes, I just realised that I missed yours sorry and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn has already been done, I just realised after I posted that and I decided to change my nomination for Alice's Adventures in Wonderland for the next one which will be classics you studied in school/university.

That's the list. I will leave this open for another few hours and get the poll up tonight.

So the poll has resulted in a tie between One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and The Phantom of the Opera. If everyone is happy, we can do one for July-August and the other for September-October. What one would everyone like to read first?
That being said, we could just pick one, and the book that doesn't get chosen can be put into another poll in the future.
I vote one flew over the cuckoo's nest to read first as i have the book then the phantom of the opera.

That's no problem Marina, however you are still welcome to comment your thoughts when the threads are set up.

I didn’t vote but I’d be interested in reading both. I’d like to read Phantom but would be better for me in September as I should have finished my les mis read by then
I would prefer that too Heather. I'm out at the minute but will set up the thread when I'm home.

I want to read this one at some point Adrian! Let me know if you want to do a buddy read - maybe there are others in the group interested too.

Time to start thinking of our next read a long, the category is classics you studied in school.

Hi Greg, my apologies in that I have only just seen your message above. Yes I'd be happy to do a buddy read of 2001, although probably the New Year ? Let me know your thoughts.

I've read all three of them, and re-read The Metamorphosis for the third time just a few weeks ago, so I will definitely join if it wins.

I will probably vote for this one, I haven't read it.

I used to teach The Metamorphosis. I love it. I think it is so funny. I used to laugh hysterically with tears coming down my cheeks whenever I read certain passages with my students. The students would look at me horrified that I would find it funny. They just didn't see the humor. Or maybe they were right--I guess I have a warped sense of humor.
Regardless, if it wins the poll, I'll read it again and look forward to joining the discussion.
Apologies for the lateness, the poll is up here: https://www.goodreads.com/poll/show/1...
It will close on the 31st.

After the new year sounds great! Just let me know when you're ready as it gets closer.
