Eric Mesa (djotaku) | 672 comments The most recent episode revealed we'd be reading Frankenstein in March. In my experience there is usually more than one version of an older book on of. which is the best version to get?

David H. (bochordonline) There's a lot of discussion in this thread already: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Trike | 11260 comments Of the two (maybe three) versions I've read, I prefer the original. So if they have the 1818 version, that would be my choice.

John (Taloni) Taloni (johntaloni) | 5210 comments What's the difference, Trike? I read one of the versions off gutenberg.org but didn't pay attention at the time. I would assume they put the original front and center but don't know for sure.

Trike | 11260 comments Shelley's second edition was longer but didn't add or improve anything as far as I could tell. I think she might have updated the science a bit, but the difference between 200-year-old science and 179-year-old science isn't that significant. Later editions tend to have analysis papers attached. I don't know if those are included in the PG uploads.

Boy how different compared to the 80s-2000s.

Technology changes quickly, science not so much....
