Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2018

Hi Sarah, welcome to the group! Hope you'll enjoy it and everything it has to offer like the great challenges, fun group and buddy reads and much more. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

:-)"
Hi Sarah, welcome to the group! Glad you have joined us. Have a look around at all this group has to offer to see what interests you. If you have any questions, just ask!

I'm joining this group to participate in different challenges with varied timelines and to help me engage with other readers, instead of just using Goodreads to track my reading...."
Hi Jennifer, welcome to the group! Glad that you have joined us and are planning on being so active. I also recommend the monthly group and buddy reads! They are fun and interesting and they're a perfect way to engage with other readers, discussing the books you've read together (I'm a bit addicted, so maybe not completely unprejudiced lol).
Have fun!!

I know what you mean Lauren!!! And also participating in this group, the interaction with fellow group members is so much fun, but takes up a lot of my (reading) time...
I'm glad you decided to join us nonetheless and hope that you'll enjoy participating as much as I do!! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask

My name is Emily, I'm from Minnesota and it's REALLY COLD here right now. So naturally I'm thinking about books to try to fake my way into being cozy :)
I'm a big reader and I first discovered the popsugar challenge in 2015 when trying to figure out ways to read more in my senior year of college. I've gone along with the challenge for the last 3 years, but still haven't been able to finish it completely (school/work really gets in the way doesn't it?!).
I love YA fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction and recently found a love for mystery/thrillers! I also have a lil book blog where I write down all my thoughts. Not sure if this is against the "promotion" rule though, so I will refrain from sharing it more than that :)
Hoping to read 52 books this year, but I'm going to put a little less pressure on myself to finish the PS challenge, but rather use it as a way to find new kinds of books that push me out of my comfort zone!
Happy reading!
Emily

Hi Emily, welcome to the group! There’s nothing better than relaxing on the sofa with a good book, a hot cup of tea and my cat on my lap while it’s cold and windy outside :)
I just love mystery and thrillers! Next to fantasy, horror and many other genres lol.
Hope joining our group and us rooting for you will help you complete this years’ PS challenge! Have fun! And if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask!

I am Anshu from North Carolina. I have been in a reading slump for a while and decided to take up the challenge to get out of it. For now I have decided to read about twenty books this year, but I hope that I will exceed the number soon enough.
I am pretty much open to all genres. At the moment I am reading through all the classics and the must reads that I had missed while I was in my reading phase.
Thanks
AT

I tend to read authors, especially ones with recurring characters so I like to read them from the start. I enjoy all different genres but I would have to say that mysteries are probably the top of my list. This year I hope to expand my reading horizons.

I'm looking forward to joining in the discussions. I noticed that your read for the month The Picture of Dorian Gray is on my list to read for a quarterly challenge already (that was a sign!) so I'll have to move it up to the month of January and try to join in the discussion.

I like pretty much all genres, particularly thrillers, science fiction, contemporary fiction, and mysteries! I also visit book stores way too often.

Also, English is my second language, please bear with me through misspelling and lack of vocabulary. If you speak Spanish please tell me, I swear I’m smarter in Spanish!
I started reading fiction and contemporary when I was in high school maybe some classics too. But when I got to meet Carolina at the university I became a fantasy lover.
My goal last year was to read 10 books, I did it but completely neglected the goal until October or so.
This time I’m committed to read 24 books and I already organized the readings of my first 3 months by mixing up some thematic challenges I saw online.
I’m very glad to be in this community and share motivation to reach out goals !

Hi Ansh,
Welcome to the group! I am sorry to hear you are in a slump but you have come to the right place we have a great number of challenges to help an a great number of people who are always looking to give recommendations. This month we are reading The Picture of Dorian Gray feel free to join us,

Hi Heather I hope you enjoy your time with us and enjoy your newly acquired retirement. We are all a friendly bunch who love to get lost in books you are in great company.

Hi Kristy welcome! We are very happy to have you and I am glad that you will be reading the monthly read with us we are taking nominations for March if you would like to cast your vote. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask

Hi Jessi welcome! I wish you the best of luck with all your reading. There is no reason to worry about your English I am sure you are very smart. Do you have a book you can't wait to read?

Hi Kaitlyn welcome! Happy almost Birthday! I am so glad you found us. Wow 200 books I am so impressed. Good luck with your GRE and your reading goal as far as recommendations I would recommend The Girl Before

I decided to find an online book group to branch out and have a means of discussing the stories I read. I have never been involved in any book clubs before but this seems like a good place to start! I'm not committing to more than I can handle, so this year I am going to read 12 books, one each month. I started the new year with Dark Money: The Hidden History of the Billionaires Behind the Rise of the Radical Right. Good luck to all and looking forward to discussing with you!

Hi Heather!
I have to admit I'm a little jealous, imagining sitting in a cozy cottage under a blanket with the smell of wood smoke on the air. Not having to leave the house for days, that sounds like my kind of relaxation! Very peaceful. I hope you find happiness and tranquility in your snowy little community and are able to meet your reading goals. Stay warm!
Bri

I'm from BC, Canada. I like to read ya novels (I'm a teenager) but about romance, sci-fi, drama, thriller, historical fiction, fantasy and more!
I love reading so much and I've loved it since I was little.
I joined this group because I want to challenge myself to read more. Being in high school, its hard to find time to read anymore.
I am trying to read around 30 books this year.
Good luck everyone!!

Hi Anshu, welcome to the group! :)
I think you have come to the right place. For me, joining this group in 2017 was a real help to get back into reading after a reading slump of many years. I started out with a tentative goal of 12 books, upped it to 24 during the year and ended up reading 46 books!!! All thanks to this group, the great challenges, the awesome group and buddy reads and last but certainly not least, the amazing group members who were always supportive, motivating and encouraging. I hope you'll have a similar experience!
If you have any questions or need any help, don't hesitate to ask!

Hi HEATHER, welcome to the group!!
That sounds awesome, time and opportunity to read lots and lots!! Hope you'll enjoy the group and everything it has to offer: it's great challenges, fun group and buddy reads, twin reads and much more. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!

Hi Kristy, welcome to the group! :)
Life can do that to you, know all about it. As I was telling Anshu, for me, joining this group in 2017 was a real help to get me to read more/get back into reading after a reading slump of many years. I started out with a tentative goal of 12 books, upped it to 24 during the year and ended up reading 46 books!!! I hope you'll have a similar experience.
Over the course of the last couple of years I've just started to pick it back up again, first with romance novels. I'm hoping this year to challenge myself to add one non-romance novel per week to my reading list, branching out so to speak and catching up from all those years of missing out on what I'm sure were some great reads.
The buddy reads were a great help for me. To read and discuss books together is really fun and encouraging. Just have a look at the reads that are planned for this year (for now, more will be coming up):
Buddy Reads 2018
If you have some reads in mind and you would like somebody to read it with, you can post it in the general buddy thread:
2018 Buddy Reads - Introduction & Sign Up
Or you can sign up for a twin read:
Twins February Sign Up
I was looking for a place to keep track of my new personal goal and the search groups brought me here!
Glad you have found us!!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts about The Picture of Dorian Gray!
Hope you'll enjoy the group as much as I do. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!

Hi Kaitlyn, welcome to the group! Glad that you decided to join us. It is a great group which I joined last year and which I enjoyed immensely. It has a lot of great challenges, the monthly group and buddy reads are soooo much fun (I'm addicted I must say) and the group members are all so friendly, supportive and encouraging. I hope you'll have the same experience.
Looking forward to seeing what you'll be reading. Have fun! And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!!

Hi Jessi, welcome to the group! Glad that you decided to join us!
Also, English is my second language, please bear with me through misspelling and lack of vocabulary. If you speak Spanish please tell me, I swear I’m smarter in Spanish!
Wouldn't worry about that Jessi! We have over 15.000 members and we come from all over the world. A lot of us don't have English as a first language, but we manage. I think your English is quite allright, so no worries there.
Unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, do understand it a little bit (I'm Portuguese but was born and raised in the Netherlands).
I started reading fiction and contemporary when I was in high school maybe some classics too. But when I got to meet Carolina at the university I became a fantasy lover.
Fantasy is one of my favourite genres, next to mysteries, thrillers and horror :) But I read almost anything lol
My goal last year was to read 10 books, I did it but completely neglected the goal until October or so.
Wow, so you completed your goal in just 3 months? That's awesome!
This time I’m committed to read 24 books and I already organized the readings of my first 3 months by mixing up some thematic challenges I saw online.

Hi Lief, welcome to the group! I think you have come to the right place! Joining the group last year has really helped me to read more. I particularly enjoy the monthly group and buddy reads; it's real fun reading and discussing books together. But there are also a lot of great challenges that can help you reach your goal. I'm sure you will make some good friends. Everybody is very friendly and supportive, at least that has been my experience in the year that I have been a member. Hope it will be the same for you.
Have fun!!

I'm Cal, from England, about to work myself to death by setting a goal of 250 books this year.
I'm an activist so I mostly read political works, biographies and diaries and all that. Mist of what I read will tie into 20th century British socialism in some way or other. So if you've any political/leftie recommendations, shoot 'em my way folks!
(Better go create that challenge thread now)

Hi Lynda, welcome to the group! Hope you'll enjoy this group as much as I do! Have fun!"
Aw Thank you Susy. I am really looking forward to this challenge!

The language we speak here is Spanish so I’m sorry if my English is not that good.
I don’t remember exactly how I found out this group, but I know that I joined it because the name sounded interesting.
I like to read since I can remember and I mostly read classics, fantasy, science fiction and young adult books.
This year I would like to read 15 books and I hope to reach that goal.

I mostly read YA fantasy/sci-fi but this year I'm planning on branching out more into different genres.
My reading goal is 52 books in 2018.
:)

I am a blood donor (random fact)
I first started goodreads last year, I found goodreads due to (ironically) hunting for books😀.
I read all sorts of books and all sorts of genre. If a book interests me then I’m down. I am part of a book club at my local library.
My goal for 2018 is 600 books because I love to challenge myself. I read everywhere and anywhere. I’m the college bus, walking home etc...
I am also a huge film/ tv show buff and again I watch anything at all . My favorite authors include Jojo Moyes, Michael Grant and lots more.
I am in love with the 80s and I really love shows like outlander (very historical). I would love to read plenty of historical books but they are hard to find.

Wowzers! I wonder if I've read 600 books in my lifetime hahaha. Good luck for 2018!! That'd be an amazing achievement in my opinion :)

Welcome Beverly :)
