SOLVED. life of an inuit girl alone on the Tundra [s]

Im almost 38,got a book in middle school at a bookfair. I cant remember the title but 'tundra' was in it. It was paperback and The cover photo was an inuit looking girl, long dark hair blowing in the wind..at least thats one element I remember. This had to be late 80s. I remember reading about her trying to hunt caribou, killing and preparing the meat, surviving the severe cold and such. I cannot remember the author or publisher. I believe it was a teen book. Any help would be most appreciated!
