Great spreadsheet!"
Correct :)
Great spreadsheet!"
Correct :)
Hi team
As Michelle and Autum haven't checked in, I have invited Jessica to join you as a replacement player. That means Cassie will be your Captain and Corey Co-captain!

Good morning team! I forgot, I have an appointment super early this morning so I'll have to update the books when I get back. With Kaitlin's O we should be clear to start looking at our third round through if any one still has books to add.Kaitlin- I have Rebecca and Girl in Translation on my tbr as well! Glad you enjoyed Rebecca, how was Girl in Translation?
Hey Cassie! Congrats on your promotion ;-) You're doing an awesome job.Girl in Translation was surprisingly good. I only read it because it was a buddy read in another GR group. I recommend both of those, but Rebecca was especially fun. It's like one of those creepy Victorian novels, like The Woman in White or some such.
Heads up team, we have a rule update! From the mods:
*Rules Update*
When I created the goal for this challenge (1000 points) it was based on a bit of a guess from number of players to make a 6-8 week challenge. We've had A LOT more people sign up for this than our last challenges which has made each team have an annual book rate of c.1000. That means each team should, on average, be able to read 19 books a week (225 points) and most will probably do more as it is a read-a-thon!
So to that end I'm going to change the goal to 2000 points which should see us have a 7/8 week challenge.
If anyone has trouble with the extension just give me a shout.

Thanks!
Glad you liked both books :). I'll have to see if I can get to them sometime soon. That tbr pile just keeps growing!
I'm going to go ahead and claim the M and R for the third round. I'm getting ready to finish an R book and I discovered that my Maisie Dobbs copy is due back at the library this week. Ack! Hopefully it's a fairly quick read because I have three days to get through it!
Psst...If you're looking for a specific letter to complete your team's spell-it-out, check out our Lending Library for Nook and Kindle users.
Welcome Jessica! We are working through ROMANCE this week, and our tracking post is #14 (HERE). As of right now we need O, N, and E if you have one of those!
I'm changing my Neil Gaiman book from American Gods to The Ocean at the End of the Lane, it's much shorter. I've started American Gods but I can't see finishing it and listening to the other two as well, this one will be more manageable and hopefully American Gods works for next weeks genre.
Great job so far team! We are one book away from finishing our books for the first ROMANCE! Not bad for Monday :)I've updated everything through this post. If you are looking for something new to read, we could use an "O", otherwise keep up the great work!
Great work everyone! I finished The Ocean at the End of the Lane, and by moving the completed R book we set for the second run through to the first one, we have now completed the word ROMANCE for the first time! We now have an additional 15 points and can start counting our books for the second run through. We are currently at 125 points, as Wild Man was shelved as romance 473 times and we also received the bonus points from that. I think we are on par with the other teams, some are ahead, others behind, I would put us currently around 3rd or 4th place just from going through the other threads.
We have books scheduled to be read for three run throughs.
I have updated the spreadsheet up to this point.
Jessica (Goldenfurpro) wrote: "I finished Nil!"Awesome! Got it marked. By the way, let me know if you like Etiquette and Espionage...I've been eyeing it but have yet to decide if I wanted to try it :).
Thank you, Corey, for keeping our spreadsheet updated!
We are doing great everyone! I added another list if anyone's up for it. Let us know, as all the letters are up for grabs at this point!
I'm off to work on Maisie, but I'll check back in later.
You're welcome. I have an hour and a half left of Insurgent so will probably be done with it tomorrow morning and then I'll be on Golem and Jinni, since it is a bit longer, I don't see myself finishing it until Saturday morning/afternoon, so not sure I'll be able to take on another book, but if I find another 180 pager or round abouts it may be possible, we'll see. Also Kim finished No country for old men, i did verify it on her bookshelf, I'll be sure to correct that on the spreadsheet when I can make it to a computer.
If you guys need a C for the new list, I'm currently reading Fates which has a character named Corinthe.
Hey Corey, what did you think of ocean a the end of the lane? I really enjoyed that one. Recently read Sandman by the same author. He's amazing.
I loved the book, and am a big Gaiman fan. I've so far have read Coraline, Neverwhere, and Stardust. Out of the four I'm a big fan of Never and Ocean. I've actually read Ocean twice now, it's really well written, and at first I was so sad to see how small it is, but it's perfect for re-reads.
I got the updated ending time for this week and it will be Saturday at 9pm Eastern (which is Sunday noon in Australia). If you need help converting to your timezone let me know. For ease of posting, if everyone can get their books in by 8pm, that would be awesome, but since we are verifying everything as we go it won't be a huge problem if it's a bit after.
It looks like we're half and half. Hald of us are in the Eastern time Zone so please post any last minute books by 8:00 p.m. EDT The other half of us are in Central so please post by 7:00 p.m. Not sure where you are Jessica out side of North America, but I am sure you convert to your time zone based on knowing EDT and the CDT times listed before.
We all seem kind of quiet. What is everyone up to? Besides reading of course. I work from 9-5, I am an attorney for Legal Aid, so have been sneaking onto Goodreads between client meetings and whatnot as a form of procrastinating from doing the work I need to be doing, but hey we all need a mental break sometimes. Outside of that I am also completely sucked into Battlestar Galactica and am on Season 3 right now, crazy stuff is going on, and that is why I needed to download audiobooks (so I can listen to them while I'm doing paperwork and while I'm in the car). So much to read and do, and so little time, but I am excited about this challenge, it finally has me finishing and starting new books, which I haven't being doing too much of lately.
I have good things about Battlestar Galactica Corey. Haven't got into that one yet. For me this challenge also is adding to my TBR : ) I am finished with The Family Man and I am also read The Red Hat Club if that is needed : )
Karen ♐ wrote: "How will this work for next week? Do we find out our word on Sat or Sun?"Corey posted this in the captains' group. Mods said they'd spin the wheel after all submissions are in, so we should find out Saturday night :)

Awesome Kim! I'll add these in.

Sorry I've been a bit busy the last few days. I guess we fell down on the job of introducing ourselves! I'm a stay-at-home mom, so I'm on pretty much throughout the day. That also means that the amount of time I have to read varies widely. I love seeing what everyone is reading and I love a good YA...it's like a guilty pleasure for me :).
Corey- I've watched all of Battlestar! I'd say overall it was awesome, definitely thought provoking. I don't remember exactly how many seasons there are and I won't throw you any spoilers, but I will say if you've hit the craziness it will continue until the end :D
What about everyone else? Favorite book genres? Current shows you're watching? My hubs and I are currently plowing through Psych on Netflix, but if you have any suggestions for what to watch next, throw it out there! I will say that if it's sci-fi or fantasy, though, we've probably seen it, lol.
There are 4 seasons. Trying to figure out who the final five are, they just found the temple of the five looking for the eye of Jupiter. YA is also a guilty pleasure of mine, sadly but the only YA series I've read is Divergent (haven't read Allegiant yet), Heir series and Seven Realms series by Cinda Chima and the Hunger Games trilogy. Naturally there's also HP.
I'm an Insurance Underwriter so I'm able to be on GR throughout the day. (Some days not as much as others). I love Romance (all kinds except YA-a bit too young for my taste), Suspense and just started getting into PNR.
I will read pretty much anything but love mystery books.Cassie you might like the remake of hawaii five o its a pretty good show.

I finished Maisie Dobbs. I have two chapters left in my other book, then I'll see if I have anything I could potentially finish by Saturday evening...

You guys are awesome, keep up the good work!
I finished Fates.I'm almost done with Etiquette & Espionage, I have 30 pages left, and I'll finish it tonight so that can be marked off as well.
I should be finished with The Golem and the Jinni tomorrow night. I have Gathering Blue which is only 5 hours long on audio book, and some of the characters should be able to fit, I'll look at a list when I get to a computer and let you know, I should be able to get to it Saturday afternoon. I really like Golem and the Jinni, it has slow parts, but it's really well written it has this magic to it that isn't so overt like you would find in say a YA novel about a Golem and a Genie haha.
doing great yall : ) I am finished with The Red Hat Club and i dont know if you got that i am done with Out of the Dark. Reading The Emerald City of Oz which is a quick audiobook so that should be done by saturday.
I'm trying to sneak in other books I'm reading this week. I'm reading Take Back the Skies and there's a character named Alice. She's not the main character, but she does play a role in the story.
