Hi girls, how is everybody? My holiday has been pretty good so far. I'm only not having much time to read, but I'll definitely finish my first book and then look for some short one that fit for teh challenge. :)
Good read!!!
Hi Juliana!
Glad to hear your holiday is going well :) I am doing good, also haven't had much time to read lately, too much going on! I have orientation day at my new school tomorrow so I am looking forward to that.
Hoping to have Insurgent read by the end of today!

I`m going to finish up The Shining which can be an S (title), D (character Danny), or T (character Tony).
I finished my re-read of New Moon.... you already had it on the list, Kerry-anne, so no changes should be necessary. Started The Virgin of the Wind Rose: A Mystery-Thriller of the End Times by Glen Chaney tonite, but you've already got that one on the list for an "N", so no changes needed there, either.
FYI, just as a public service announcement. My GR friend Paris, in another group, has noticed that in her challenges, some of the books are mysteriously defaulting to different books of the same name. They're literally changing on their own. Bizarre, and unexplained. I've noticed myself that my shelf categories, which I rely on to categorize books, are disappearing as well. This isn't one or two books, but seems to be a recent chronic issue. So just keep your eyes open and on your books, especially your Wheel a thon challenge shelf. If your shelves go away, books will just disappear from there. I think Gr may be having a personality crisis, but since a change to a book of same name will also change author, series name, and characters, it could suddenly morph into a book that doesn't work for the challenge. I know it's bizarre, but she's a very credible source. lol And I KNOW my shelves have gone insane in the last week or so. Ok, PSA over. ;)

also D (Danny)
I've finished Roots of Insight today (08/27).I'm also reading The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun and I think I'll be able to finish it before our deadline, but he only counts for letter 'T'.
:)
Juliana, that 'Happiness Project' looks amazing! What a fabulous basis for a 360 day memoir. I'm definitely going to check that one out, but would love to hear what you think of it! Enjoy the rest of your trip!

That may explain why a book I've never read and don't recall wanting to read, appeared in my wheel shelf as read. It caught my attention because there was no date read set.
Yep, sounds like the Gr gremlin strikes again. ;) Paris was befuddled because she would never even want to read the books her beloved books changed into. Very strange, indeed. Wonder what sort of a programming glitch could cause such a weirdo bug? lol

Update for Kerry-anne.. Still reading The Virgin of the Wind Rose: A Mystery-Thriller of the End Times, but there's a ton more character names that'll give you lots of flexibility in where to stick this. I'm still at halfway point, so will likely have some more. This book may well work for all the letters. lolLetters N - Navigator (currently on your list here, for nickname), T - The (title)
New letters - P - Pero (char first), A - Al-Sourouri (char last), Y - Yahya (char first/nickname), D - Diogo (char first), O - Ochley (char last)
I have a couple books going right now
by Tabitha KingP (Title), T (author) D (Pearl Dickenson) N, (Roscoe Needham) S (Sonny)
by Claire CrossT (title) P (Philippa Coxwell) N, S (Nick Sullivan)

Huh... Irene, I haven't read any Tabitha King for a decade or so. Had no idea she was writing women's fiction! I've only ever seen her horror. That Pearl looks amazing!
Starting Italian IceI: title
P: series "Precious Gems"
A: character Reed Acton
T: character Trent Copeland
Finished The BlondeIt'll work for T from the title or O from the character Oswald. Or D from the character Douglass Walls.
OddModicum Rachel wrote: "Huh... Irene, I haven't read any Tabitha King for a decade or so. Had no idea she was writing women's fiction! I've only ever seen her horror. That Pearl looks amazing!"It's pretty good. I've read a couple things of hers before. Some of their son Joe Hill too. They're one, um, interesting family. :-) And they live only a couple hours north of me. Oh, and let me do a shameless plug here for someone who went to school with my son. If anyone likes horror, check out Joe Hart. He's got some short stories and novels on Amazon.
I'll absolutely check out Joe Hart... wanna say I've heard the name just recently, oddly enough. On Gr, maybe? And holy tar... I'm a newish fan of Joe Hill, and had no clue whatsoever he was the oddball offspring of King 1 and King 2. Boy... that explains a lot.
OddModicum Rachel wrote: "I'll absolutely check out Joe Hart... wanna say I've heard the name just recently, oddly enough. On Gr, maybe? And holy tar... He writes also but I'm not familiar with his stuff yet. Considering the family rep, I have to at least give him a try.
Joe Hart had a book come out recently so you may have seen something then. 3 of his short stories are free for kindle. They're horror. His more recent book is more thriller.
Thanks for heads up on free Joe Hart! I just put a bunch of his books on my tbr... never occurred to me to see if anything was free on amazon! Off to grab em, and will definitely review when done (which I like to do on free fiction... gives the author a benefit, anyway).

Gah... sounds like you're running like chicken minus head. Happy 'back to school'ing, and don't make yourself nuts trying to finish. I'm sure we'll survive if you don't get that one read in time, and we all appreciate the amount of time you have to put in keeping up with list, otherwise none of the contest would be doable for any of us. ;)
I am done The Shining I will be leaving bright and early for camping tomorrow (5 AM yuck) so I probably won't be online again. This is the last week right? If not I will be online to pick a book sometime on Tuesday.
Hi girls!!I finished The Happiness Project: Or Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun on 08/28/14.
@Rachel, I enjoyed the book and how the author used simple and manageable techniques to improve her life without actually making huge changes. I'll try to apply some of the ideas. If you are think of trying to bring more happiness to your daily life I'd recommend to ready this book. :)
I'm still without internet and I'll travel again tonight. This time I'm going home!!! After almost 3 months in Australia we are going back to Norway, where my husband and I have been living for two years. The journey is long I'll probably be out for most of the week, but I'll try to check things here as much as I can.
Was lovely to work with you guys for this last weeks. :)
Have a good trip home Juliana! Hope it goes smoothly :)
sniff.. so we really think this week is the end, huh? Such a bummer I didn't start out with you guys, but thrilled I got the chance to play with you these last few weeks! And really thrilled this was my intro into 'big' challenges, because you guys made it great fun. ;) Kelsi, have a ball camping (5 am start, aside), and travel safely, Juliana! I'll definitely check out 'Happiness Project' as I could use a little more (who couldn't!?) and love that they're not gynormous changes, but doable little ones.
I'll definitely finish The Virgin of the Wind Rose: A Mystery-Thriller of the End Times on time... rounding the final stretch. Cannot recommend this book highly enough... Wow. Epic and amazing.
Thanks rachel! I had a lot of fun getting to know everyone here too, I'm sad it's ending. Ugh I need to get to bed lol it's already ten and I'm getting up at three. I will check in when I'm home to see how we did overall :)
I have really enjoyed being part of this challenge and this brilliant team. I am sure we will meet in other team challenges on Goodreads.Unfortunately I just haven't been reading this week and every time I tried to read my chosen book I feel asleep - not totally the book's fault.
Yesterday I decided to chose another book and hoped I would finish it and I have, I made sure it would cover the letter Y .
The book I have read this week is:
The Yellow Fairy Book by Andrew Lang.

P (title), T (author), R (Reuben or Roscoe), D (David), N (Norris), S (Sonny)
Grargh! I'm so sorry guys! We had a little mishap earlier, so I got stuck at the urgent care forever, today, then came home and crashed out, hard. Just started stirring, and realized I'd missed putting my last book in the 'read' pile for this week, and now it's hours past the deadline. Geez... what a way to end the contest. Hope I didn't screw us up too bad! (sheepish)
Congratulation team. We started on 20th place but ended up in top 10 in 9th place.@Rachel, we ended 30 points after 8th place so your missing book wouldn't have made any difference to the result.
It seemed a lot of us this week had other commitments and I for one didn't read as much as I have read the rest of the month but we still managed to stay in top 10 and I think we did very well.
I have enjoyed this challenge and now I am today starting another group challenge + another that starts the 6th of September.
Thank You everyone.
Yeah, my grand total for this week (without the one I missed putting in place) was one book as well. Seems like so little given what I usually read, but really trying hard to get my little OddModicum business off the ground, so most of what I've read lately have been unreleased books for editing projects. lol Still fun, but not nearly as 'relaxing' as reading for enjoyment. ;) Thanks both so much... feel much better now that I don't feel like I cost us a ton of points. ;)
Have fun in your next challenges, guys! I'll be doing little ones here and there, but next few mos are going to be running like chicken minus head for me, trying to build portfolio and websites and such, so will likely be a few mos till I bite off any more huge challenges. Still in the 'Armed & Dangerous' one, though, so I need to get my bum in gear and update it! ;) Love that cause it's fun and keeps me motivated, but it's a long standing one, so week to week if I flake on reading.. no prob.
Happy trails, ladies, and happy reading! Hope to see you all around soon. And Yay, Team Hook!
From 20th to 9th? I'll take it! The object is to have fun and make friends. We did that so we're still winners :-)
Wow! 9th place! Go us! :D It was so nice meeting and working with you all, hope to see you around soon :)
