Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just completed #6 (novel based on real person) - The Eight by Katherine Neville. I love books that make me think and books that teach me something. It's even better when it's entertaining. This book accomplished all three! My only critique is that there were portions that were confusing and could have been edited a touch better. Definitely worth reading! 4.5 stars

Audrey | 12 comments Do you think that Silk Roads by Peter Frankopan can be considered a microhistory? It's about a specific topic but I worry it's too extensive to be a true microhistory...

Ilona | 4698 comments Audrey wrote: "Do you think that Silk Roads by Peter Frankopan can be considered a microhistory? It's about a specific topic but I worry it's too extensive to be a true microhistory..."

I personally do think that is too extensive. Wikipedia says: "Microhistory is the intensive historical investigation of a well-defined smaller unit of research (most often a single event, the community of a village, or an individual)."
And as far as I can judge from the Goodreads blurb, this book concerns events in the whole world.
Goodreads has some helpful lists if you are looking for another microhistory book:
Popular microhistory books
Genres: microhistory
Then again, Salt: A World History apparently is considered a microhistory.

Bottom line, I am not going to check everyone's books for each prompt, so it is for you to judge :)

Megan (lahairoi) | 7470 comments Just finished #50 (recommended by someone else in challenge) - Ginny Moon by Benjamin Ludwig. I work with foster children in the juvenile system every day. I would love to say that Ginny's story is an anomaly, but it isn't. The novel is very well-done, and the subject matter and point of view make it a difficult but rewarding read. I received this book as a free giveaway in exchange for my honest review. Definitely worth reading! 4 stars
